As above. I'm running Rootbox JB (AOKP/CM) and using my default player power amp I can navigate to the folders on the external card where 95% of my music is held. However player pro or jet audio do not find this by default and I have been unable to manually navigate to the card. I've tried renaming the folder from Music to Songs to no avail. Any clues guys ?

have you checked to see if the music folder has a .nomedia file in it? use es file manager (or similar) and select show hidden files, if it's there delete it.
No there's no .nomedia file in the folder or sub-folders
I thought I'd sussed it. This is a new 32gb card that I had formatted in Cw recovery. When I put the card into the PC windows couldn't 'see' it. I found the file structure was RAW. so I transferred the files off. Reformatted as NTFS and transferred back. Now the computer can see everyrhing fine, but the problem is still there with the music apps.

Im new to xda's and pocket pc's ...I just bought a sx56 and am trying to figure out how to download music from my pc to the sd card on my sx56 via the active sync connection....the amount of space available on my device is very little and so I dont want to use it up but it wont let me store any music directly from pc to the sd card..I can drag and drop files to the sd card but then it wont read it be cause the format is not changed!!
Your music files need to have the extension .mp3 or .wma if you're using the Windows Media Player shipped with the SX-56.
What is the extension of the file(s) you're copying to your SD card?
in activesync you can choose explore device
and then pick mypda or something that gets you out of
the my doc dir and then you can access your sdcard
that way and it auto converts files which require that
i always just use a sdcard reader to copy and i never had any problems reading the music files

Vegan-Tab 5.1.1 and Clemsyn's kernel.
I'm having problems with my tab searching and accessing media files stored on the external SD card. I can browse the files manually with iFileManager and they play just fine, but the stock Music and Video players as well as RealPlayer and WinAmp fail to recognize the SD Card.
Thoughts?
By the way, I did the .nomedia file on both /SDCARD and /SDCARD2
Some more info that I found by searching HARDER...
The .nomedia "bandaid" is the culprit. Adding a file or folder with this name essentially prevents the device from scanning the SD card.
I'll looking for more info and post as I learn...
I'm trying to use DirectoryBind to fool WinAMP into putting music onto the external SD Card during Wireless sync. So, I create a bind. /mnt/extSdCard/Music/ to /sdcard/Music/ So that when WinAMP syncs to sdcard/Music/ it should actually go to my SD card.
However, this isn't working.
After creating the bind, then initiating a sync it copies the music ok, but nothing at all shows in ES File Explorer in EITHER folder, which is weird. So, if I disable the bind and refresh, the music shows up in /sdcard/Music/
How would I mount /mnt/extSdCard/Music to /sdcard/Music/ instead?
EDIT:
I correctly have a folder on my SD card to mount my external SD card and make it accessable and it works fine. I don't see why this won't work.
For instance, I have a folder /sdcard/extsdcard/ which is, of course, actually /mnt/extSdCard/. When I go to /sdcard/extsdcard/ in ES File Explorter, I see the whole external SD card and all it's files.
Why won't this work for my music?

Welcome,
I have Shuttle Music Player app - a really nice music player for Android. But I have a problem with it.
Last month I created .nomedia file to make some folders disappeared in Gallery. But first localization of .nomedia was external SD card. After creating .nomedia there Shuttle didn't recognize any music file. This is normal, I know. But after deleting .nomedia Shuttle still not recognizing music files. Reinstall didn't help. Someone can tell me, why?
[EDIT] In stock music player is the same situation.
Sent from my LIVE2 using XDA Free mobile app
PS Sorry, if you found any mistakes in text, I'm still learning English.

Try unmounting and mounting your SD card in Settings > Storage.
I had the same concern.
Removing and re-installing the external SD-CARD fixed the concern.

As has been mentioned before: unmounting and re-mounting the SD card should solve the problem, maybe a simple reboot of your device could be used also.
A short explanation why you have been facing this problem. As far as I know, Shuttle uses the Android media library, which is built up by the internal media scanner of your device. This media scanner runs at start-up of your device or when a storage is mounted, e.g. your SD card. When you place a .noMedia file in a folder to exclude it, the media scanner will ignore all files in this folder. When you delete the .noMedia file, you have to trigger the scanner to re-scan all files, so that the files from the formerly excluded folder ca be re-integrated into the media library and such being available again for music player apps or gallery apps.
Hi.
I'm trying to use this player, I organize mp3s in folders.
My problem is that mp3s are played only if they are in the root, internal or external sd.
if they are inside folders, they simply don't play.
Hi,
The sony album app can read my pictures on the sd card just fine but the music app seemed to not be able to. It was able to last week. Might it be because of the sep 4 update that I installed? I tried to:
reinstall the app
delete the app cache
delete all cache
check for .nomedia files inside the Music folder (I have my music placed in a 'Music' folder in the top location of the sd card)
remount sd card
anyone else having this problem or most probably it is just me?
Ok, the solution
i copied my whole Music folder from the SD card and pasted it in my computer.
delete the music folder
clear the music app cache and restart the phone
create the music folder again in the sd card
copied each sub folder in my music file back
