I am having a problem with sending texts. I am on the latest MeanBean 3.09. I ran this rom version for almost a month with no issues. I can toggle airplane mode or reset the phone and sometimes the texts will send when the network recycles. I've turned off/toggled Automatic Connections, GPS, Wi Fi, Data. I performed a factory reset and clean installed the rom with the same result. This is obviously not a usable experience. Anyone encountered this issue before? Ladies only want to text these days, so its kind of important part of socializing. Please help?!
are you able to update your profile or prl? I was having problems with delayed sending and receiving of texts and i chalked it up to just sprint being stupid, but when i tried to update my profile it kept throwing a 1233 error. With a bit of research i found that it might be something on sprint's end so you might either need to call them or try the following:
1. Back up your internal SD as this process will factory reset the phone as well as wipe the internal SD.
2. Get your Master Subsidy Lock code (MSL). You can get this from the Play Store with the app MSL reader.
3. dial ##786# in the dialer to get to the Reverse Logistics Support menu. On the upper right hand corner there is a menu button, hit that and then hit reset. The process will do a factory reset as well as tell sprint this phone needs to be reactivated.
4. When it reboots it will take you to hands free reactivation again. After you do all that stuff try to update profile and prl, if it works then you may have fixed it.
This worked for me personally, but your mileage may vary. I will not be responsible for pictures of cute kittens and your kids being gone forever by doing this. It won't do anything to the external SD card, but the INTERNAL will get wiped. Games and GPS maps from offline apps such as tom tom and sygic get saved to the internal so if you don't wanna download them all again copy those folders to your external for safe keeping. Good luck!

yesterday i was using my HD2 like always
this morning it had some error's (like: storage card2 instead of storage card, opera giving "invalid signature" errors, email setup erased, some gui modifications removed (small ones like the one to remove the bars in the main screen)
and after a few tries to restore it (and some soft resets)
the device suddenly decided to completely wipe it self and return to factory mode after a soft reset!!!
luckly i only "lost" some SMS messages (still need to find a good way to back those up)
anyone who has experienced the same thing?
first time i experienced this, i really hope the device is not malfunctioning (hardware like) and it was just a bug in the software
Sounds like some software went completely insane on your device. When you have a new setup, try to add software step by step and then try for while. Maybe you have a chance to identify the bad guy!
As for the backup, did you look into MS MyPhone? It synchronizes your phone content, including the SMS messages. This way you can restore them at any given time.
I'm rather new to smartphones and just acquired my Tbolt. Text messaging still functions correctly, but I am unable to send/receive pics. It tries for 5min to send, then says generic network failure.
Any advice?
Thank you
also, I was still able to log online, but not since I dialed ##778# then disabled my Rev.A under modem settings.

Well, there are three potential solutions I know of depending on your circumstances.
First, "if you ported over your number from another carrier and you are still within 72 hours of doing so, it can take up to 72 hours for a port to complete and for everything to function properly." - Verizon Tech
Second, People have reported that simply turning off the phone, pulling out the battery for 30 seconds, and then replacing that battery and booting back up resolves the problem.
Third, it doesn't sound like you had another android phone prior to the bolt, but if you did, and you used titanium backup to restore the stuff from your old phone, that is most likely the problem. Therefore, if you are rooted and ran Titanium Backup from your new bolt with information from another/old phone than this is your likely problem and you can remedy it by either wiping all data on the phone and starting over by going to Menu --> Settings --> SD & Phone Storage --> Factory Data Reset. Alternatively, you can use clockworkmod recovery to wipe all data and cache and reinstall the rom. You can still use Titanium Backup but only restore the apps, not the system settings.
I had this problem personally and spent 2 hours on the phone with Verizon unable to help me fix the solution. The Titanium Backup problem was my problem. Good luck and be sure to let me know if either solution works!
I did a search, but wasn't able to find any relevant threads. So if I missed something, please point me in the right direction.
My problem is that earlier this morning, my data ceased working. The notification bar shows 3G (sometimes even 4G), but I cannot get anything to load or refresh. The data arrows are indicating that while data can go "up", it isn't coming "down". I'm not sure what happened, as I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when this happened. I've got a decent signal in terms of bars as well, at least 2 or 3. Even given that, the data connection does appear to drop and then come back a few seconds later, but the behavior is the same: no internet.
I am S-OFF, global radios I believe, and when this first happened I was running the "le n00b" CM9 kang (which I've been running since yesterday morning with only intermittent data drops and no other problems). After a while of no data, resetting the radios via airplane mode toggle, a reboot, full shut down and restart, I restored a nandroid of the sense-based Vigor360 ROM, which had never had any data issues, but the same behavior is happening. Notification bar shows a decent signal, 3G/4G, but no data. After that, I powered down and pulled the battery, sdcard & sim card, left them out for a minute, put it all back together, powered back up, but still no data.
tl;dr: notification bar shows 3G/4G and decent signal, but I'm getting absolutely no data.
I've confirmed with a co-worker who's also on Verizon that their data is working, so it doesn't seem to be tower/network related. Anyone seen anything like this before? If so, what's the prognosis?
UPDATE: I was in Vigor360 with no data, and kept digging around XDA's wonderful search function, and found someone with a similar issue (though nothing about 3G/4G being in the notification bar) and they updated their PRL via *228. I did that, data seemed to come back. So I took a chance and restored my "le n00b" CM9 nandroid, and so far I've got data! Editing this post using that connection right now! I'll update further if I drop data again or discover any new relevant info.
the *228 wont do anything for us now that we have 4g and the sim card updates the prl when there is a new one. that was the old way to force a prl on 3g only so i think that was only a coincidence that data came back.
you might have a bad sim card. what you can do to test is put it in wifi mode and surf the web. if that works then its not the radio.
thing you can try to do:
remove the sim card and boot the phone. wait for it to fully boot and it say there is no sim detected. turn of the phone and put your card back in. then boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache and boot the phone like normal.

Perhaps, but that was the line of demarcation between data not working to it working. Plus, the data speed seemed even faster than normal for the respective signal strength. Either way, I'm just happy it's working.

Thanks - I'll keep this in mind if it happens again. I was able to use the internet normally on wifi.
check your APN

You can always RUU back to stock to have a working phone
My 4G will be 2 years old in February. It is quite buggy now, it likes to lag a lot or glitch, it's definitely not the lightning machine that it used to be. I saved all of my data and am going to perform a wipe/factory reset and wipe the cache partition (hopefully I am allowed to do that, if not, oh well too late).
Is there something more potent then a factory data reset using the Android Recovery mode while not in the phone OS? It resets the phone but I have the latest OS, which I think could end up keeping all of my bugs. Can I go back to the original OS when the phone shipped and legitimately start over and re-update everything? I logged back in and an app widget was still there with writing on it, some of my pictures, and some icons I moved around. this is after I did a rest outside of the phone, then went in the phone and did another reset. So much for wiping all of my data I guess.
So, if this does not fix the buggyness of the phone, what should I do? The phone likes to press buttons randomly and I have to hit the power button to lock it, and then unlock it for the magic button pressing to stop. This is common. Apps are slow or time out a lot and it takes the phone FOREVER to reboot. It love to randomly restart, especially using pandora or spotify. It takes a long time to connect to Wifi, sometimes I have to go to the wifi settings to wait for it to automatically choose my saved network, which baffles me like crazy.I did have the most recent update of course. I think the finger print scanner also stopped working... or it never did work. Lastly, the vibrating unit doesnt always vibrate, it likes to vibrate on a few keystrokes and it randomly stops, then starts up again. **** this phone. It really makes me want to go to an iPhone... and I am a hardcore windows computer tech and I hate apple, but ****, why cant anyone build a stable OS?
So, assuming my phone works correctly, what should I do to it once it's up and running? I am ready to Root the phone and try some new apps and hacks and what not, especially if it makes the laptop dock mode faster, cause right now it's slow as ****.
Factory reset basically wipes the /data partition.
I would also recommend you do a format of the internal sd, after the factory reset (see storage in the system settings). This way, files on the sd will have no impact on apps as you reinstall things.
Regarding returning to an earlier Rom version, I would not recommend as being part of the solution. Newer Rom version are better usually. Gb by motto is solid.

Hey guys,
So I have been getting this pop up message on my phone ever since I set up the WiFi calling service. It kinda looks like a dialog you would get from doing a prl or profile update but in this case there is no indication of what type of network error it is. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I did recently updated my prl but nothing went wrong afterwards this started happening after WiFi calling setup and the problem with this error message window is that it pops up it wakes the device and unless you clear it out it will not go to sleep again causing my phone battery to drain way too quickly... Any ideas?
Didn't have that issue when i set up Wi-Fi calling.
Worst case... Use helium to back up your data, then factory reset.
I did a factory reset from stock recovery and it wiped my whole internal sd, which deleted my backup. So you might want to put helium backup folder (carbon) on ext sd while you factory reset if you choose to save the backup to your phone.
Weird... Problem seems to have gone away or today hasn't shown up at all. I'll come back with an update tomorrow. Hopefully it's gone for good. Thanks
