FIRST: I have spent about 35 minutes searching these forums and could not find an answer to either question, but pardon me if they have been answered. I am new to this stuff.
1. I have just recently gotten this phone, plan on rooting tomorrow. I've seen multiple different posts containing different methods of permanent and temp roots. Which one is most accurate or do they all get the same effect?
2. If I flash a JB rom from one of the others (P760) will it brick mine (P769) or would it work?
1) Follow this guide for rooting your P769 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
2) You shouldn't flash JB to the P769 as it has slightly different specs than the rest of the L9s. Flashing it onto the P769 wouldn't be a good idea. It's safer to wait for it to be released.
Just FYI, there are multiply threads on the L9 broken down by category: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2072
In the future, hopefully this will narrow down your search

Hi everyone,
I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. Recently, my phone has been running really slow, and I remembered people saying that rooting and flashing custom roms will help increase the efficiency of the phone. I've been looking through tons of threads and countless google searches trying to find a tested and working method for BL unlock and root for a stock MB860 on Android 2.3.6 -- 4.5.145. Yet I haven't found anything. Can I get some suggestions/help? Thanks.
PS - I plan on getting the SGS4, but till I see some actual benchmarks/comparisons between the two chipsets that they phone is shipping with, I'll have to rely on my Atrix 4G. And right now, as I said earlier in the post, it's acting extremely sluggish in every sense of the word.

Wow thanks. Everyone posting on there says it's real easy to use. Unfortunately no one has system version 4.5.145 like I do. I'm not sure how important that actually is but I have read that version does matter. But it is nice to see people have used it successfully used it with 2.3.6. I posted on that thread and am waiting for a response. Thanks again.
Hi all,
Moving from a GS2 to a HOX+ and the GS2 is easy to root but not so sure about the HOX+, I did root and add many custom roms to the GS2 but can only find one rooting process for the HOX+ but the web page says they've had a lot of people bricking their phones, is there a good guide to rooting the HOX+?
Sorry did search but found nothing.
Cheers
Rooting is easy as pie. I used the tool in the first link myself, but you may find the second link just as useful.

Hi, I posted last week about help with unlocking and rooting LG l9 and no one really replied.
I used this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465) & it didn't work (i. e. step 2 of guide would not occur as chrome recognized the files as malware, with it stopping the download). Am I doing something wrong? I read the guide thoroughly & I don't have any pop-up blockers enabled. To sum up what I need help with: a method for unlocking & rooting T-Mobile LG l9. Sorry if this is a dumb post but I have spent a lot of time on trying to root my phone, with no success.

The reason noone responded to your previous post is simple. No one is going to hold your hand and explain everything step by step. It takes too much time. There is thread after thread of information here. Read. And then read some more. Creating duplicate threads is a no no at XDA by the way.
The link you posted is for devices that already have unlocked bootloaders. You may want to look at this thread for rooting your device. I can personally confirm that this method works for P769's with locked bootloaders. You didn't mention you devices model number but since you said TMobile I must assume P769.
As for unlocking your device, there is no definitive way or simple method to do it. If you have a ton of free time and don't mind your phone being down for periods of time while attempting to unlock, then follow any of the threads about unlocking your L9 bootloader. They are all about the same. There is no guarantee that you will be able to unlock your bootloader. You've been warned. Good luck.
Hello first I'd like to say this is my first post to this website but have been looking for some time so please forgive me until I learn all the nuances of the rules I've rooted a few of my phones using some of the great instructions here but I'm a little confused on the step by steps 2 update my LG V10 20 e to the 20 J and keep it rooted and would like to use a stock but rooted version of 20 J. minor rewards may be involved have a nice day

It's been a couple days but if you still haven't found answer check the dev section, eliminater74 has all you need there, you flash part one and then part two via TWRP
I did see his instructions but I'm a little unclear in a few things is it stock still and rooted can I flash it direct from my two primary still learning I have some basic knowledge and work for a major carrier and am willing to be of help for other people's issues as well if a can
Hi friends.
After several hours of searching, I'm posting my question here (bought my first LG smartphone so I don't have many references, so maybe it's simple but I can't find the solution).
I just bought an LG G8X, model number LM-G850UM. It comes with an At&T overlay. It's unlocked, no SIM issues. I would just like to remove AT&T completely. I mean, not just the bloated apps.
The point is, I'd like to be able to install ROM updates without waiting for it to go through ATT every time (I'm not even in the US). For example, take any international KDZ to downgrade, and be able to receive OTA without waiting for it to be officially available through ATT.
It's a bit confusing, I tried to explain as best I could.
I want to do the same thing. I tried with KDZ and LGUP but didn't work...
I can confirm that this method worked for my LGM850UM. Went from AT&T Android 9 to OPEN_CA Android 11.
