[Q] Flashed wrong kernel on SCH-I905! Please help! - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I was about to root my SCH-I905 (with ICS 4.0.4) according to this tutorial (starting at Step 5), like it was mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1918823. Now the tablet won't boot anymore. It's stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Tab" Screen. I still can access download or (CWM) recovery mode. I think if I can install another kernel, it would probably work again BUT as I can't boot the tablet, I don't know how to put any files onto the interal storage. Has any buddy a solution to my problem? Please help!
Thanks,
Kerstin

On 3.1 now.. how do I get on FE01?
Hi again,
ok, so I found a way to flash back to stock rom version EG01 (3.1) via Odin and the tablet does boot again. I can't do a software update (probably because I don't have a Verizon sim card since I live in Germany), so I need to update the tablet manually. Can I immediately update to FE01? If so, can somebody tell me where to get the FE01 software? Could not find it.
Thanks,
Kerstin

Problem solved
After hours of search I wasn't able to find a FE01 firmware. Although I sometimes read, that it was recommened to update to CM10.1 only from FE01 (because of the modem files and so on) I decided to give it a try. The worst thing I could have gotten was a brick and as I was stuck on 3.1 without access to homescreen or app drawer (because of the missing verizon card and tablet activation) I was quite desperate.
I couldn't get a connecting via usb to my computer to place any installation file onto the tablet. But I could access the tablet settings and so I added my google account and installed the ES file explorer via google play using my computer and this "remote installation function" of the play store. The I put the latest cm10.1 nightly for the SCH-I905 onto my smartphone via bluetooth... man that took a lot of time . Of course the file was in the wrong direction but after the ES file explorer installation I could open the app via google play (which I only could access through the information pop-up) and paste the file into the sdcard directory. Using odin I installed CWM and installed the CM10.1 nightly.
I realize, that this case is reeeally rare. Why should someone outside the US get a Verizon tablet? Well, I bought it at a lost&found auction from the airport. It was quite cheap (because they said it could not be activated) but I thought that there must be any solution to that problem. And allthough my solution surely wasn't the most elegant of all, I'm happy to at least own a wifi-capable Jelly Bean tablet now.

Rooting PMP5097CPRO

Hello,
I have a Prestigio MultiPad 9.7 PRO tablet that I got for free. The device itself is not bad, but it could do so much more if it had root access. The tablet is not so popular, so there aren't any tutorials on the web. That is why I'm asking for help here.
The device is getting updates via the OTA Service app. It downloads a system.img file onto the SD card, and then it asks me if I want to install it. Now, I'm asking is there some way to "inject" SU and BusyBox into the IMG file, and then install it.
Any help will be grateful.
Hi!
I rooted this tablet with a modified rom, you can find it here
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17482271/PMP5097CPRO_V1.0.3_20120418.rar)
But it is "only" version 1.03 which is rooted but t works flawlessly. Decomress the .zip file and rename the file to "update.img" and put it directly on your internal sd card of the tablet and restart it. It will ask for an update. You will get a rooted rom v1.03 without loosing any data. When you update to the latest firmware you will loose root. Tried by myself. I also tried to modify v.1.06 and to implement Superuser & Co but without success. I am a totally noob in linux .

Hi,
I just picked this tablet up. I have successfully rooted it and have installed a working Play Store. I now have access to all my apps that I use on my Galaxy Note 10.1.
To root I used the instructions from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Once I had root I wanted to get Google Play Store on the tab. I found a couple of places that had information concerning adding Play Store to other devices and kind of pieced the info together to come up with this solution.
1. Download gapps for ICS. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
2. Unzip file
3. Navigate to the " System/app " folder and find "phonesky.apk and setupwizard.apk"
(You will need to copy these two files to your tablet)
4. Once files are on tablet use something like "Root Explorer" to copy both to the "system/app" folder of the tablet.
(The folders will need to be mounted as "R/W" so they can be written to )
5. After the files are copied to the proper folder, you need to edit the permissions for both.
6. In "Root Explorer" long press on each file and choose "permissions"
7. Edit permissions to read "Owner: Read, Write" "Group: Read" "Others: Read"
8. Reboot and launch Play Store
Hope it works for you!

My Trio won't boot
It doesn't boot after enabling quickboot.
EDIT: Wait... I just flashed the Allwinner A10 ROM. I hope it works. Boot takes very very long and will not end in looping!
EDIT 2: It works... the touchscreen just didn't work and freezes when loading with SD Card.
NOW I DON'T HAVE A STOCK ROM FOR TRIO! I SPENT $60 FOR A BRICKED DEVICE!

8:44 - Oh crap... Boot animation froze. WHAT DID I DO!?!?
8:45 - Bootloop confirmed.

Contact the manufacturer and maybe they can help. I just rooted and kept the stock rom. Sorry for your misfortune.

I'll try. I just flashed CM9 for AllWinnerTablets. I said I burned it just for expressing my emotion. I'll try to get a replacement or return it.
EDIT: I'll TRY to return it. But I'll see if I can replace it first, since it's on a one-year warranty. I have a reciept and kept it safe.
Don't know about Walmart, but you could try to return it

[Q] z4root or equivalent for 4.04 ICS?

Alright, I'm posting this as a last ditch effort to see if there's something I've missed somewhere or there's something new I wasn't aware of.
Is there any app equivalent to z4root for 4.04 I can use on my Tab 10.1? Essentially I've picked up a Tab recently that apparently has a bunk charging port. Charges fine but computers don't recognize it. I'll likely have to order a new port and install but before I do I wanted to see if I had any other options for rooting. I ultimately want to install CM10 with CWM and probably overclock but of course without root, no can do.
Unfortunately the Tab 10.1 doesn't have an external SD port and with no way to connect to the computer, there's no option to root or even install CWM.
I could also get away rooting on stock recovery if there is way to change the path for the external SD to a folder on the internal memory. I'm assuming this can be done with root access :-/.
Wish there was an exploit with kies where I could have write access to the root directory or atleast the recovery directory. Ran a port scan last night for the heck of it and looks like 1108 is open. Still doesn't help me much without an exploit.

[Q] Asus TF201 "Launcher has stopped" ?

I own a rooted Asus Transformer Prime TF201 table with JB 4.1.1 (original), and have probably done something stupid... please help this Noob, as I've read so much when looking for answers the last 2 days -- now I'm thoroughly confused! (To tell the truth, wasn't that great of a root user before...)
My tablet won't get beyond "Launcher has stopped" error when booting.
I rooted several months ago, installed a custom bootloader graphic (still works), SuperSU, ROM Manager and some other rooted apps. I had flashed cyanogen rom "9" (I think) -- the stable one for Asus -- and was running fine. I thought I had done a nandroid backup (file on SD card).
Then I created my problem: I had messed around with the LED settings via ROM Manager, and then I think I changed the build.prop file value for VM heap stack from 256 to 512 ("governor" settings?). (I know, I know -- used to mess around a little with PCs and I should have known better what I was doing!)
Now I can't get homescreens or launch apps, or anything. "Launcher has stopped"
I can power off and power on (using power + volume buttons). My custom bootloader image comes into view after the ASUS logo -- but next I get the "Asus Keyboard is not installed" message with the "Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped" message on top of that. Pressing the OK buttom just blinks and back to the errors.
I *can* get get to the settings, though.
Is a new tablet in my future?
Can anyone help me undo this mess I've made?? Help for the Noobs! Oh, and THANK YOU in advance for the trouble!
Hey!
Can you access the recovery mode? If yes:
1. Download the zip file attached to this post;
2. Put the holo.zip file in your sdcard;
3. Enter in recovery mode and flash the zip;
4. Reboot system;
5. Now you get Holo Launcher in your tablet!
Can't See Asus tablet from PC
Thanks for confirming that I am going about trying to fix this in the 'right' way!
I had never installed the SDK / android bridge to my Windows Vista 32-bit PC -- and I did that a couple days ago.
But I am not able to get root connected to the Asus. It shows as MTP device and I can see the sd card (also via Explorer in Windows)
I feel so dumb but I think the tablet can be rescued, if only I knew what to do!
Can you help me -- start from the beginning and help me get my Asus tablet working again??

Sorry, I didn't see your post before.
Why don't you flash the ROM again?
I mean the custom one.

Cannot access sd card to install new android version

Hello and thanks for reading / helping if you can.
In brief, I have a Samsung Tab 2 GT-P3110 tablet which was running android 4.2.2. It's main use was as a controller for my sonos sound system which no longer supports my device. I thought I'd try and update it rather than simply chuck it into landfill for no good reason other than it was old like me! I know almost nothing about what I am doing, sorry!
So far I have I think 'rooted' the device using something called odin, and installed the clockwork recovery mod. I have also installed the Samsung drivers onto my PC and I have on my pc a zipped file which I believe will install a newer version of android (perhaps some guidance might be required for best file to go for). Unfortunately I am unable to see my tablet's sd card (or anything to do with the tablet) when connected to my pc via USB in order to copy it. Moreover I have copied the same file to a micro sd card but when I put this directly into the tablet and try and boot off the external card I get an access error and the card is not read.
I am out of ideas now and wonder if one of you clever people might be able to help me? I think I read somewhere about having to switch on USB debugging and USB sharing or the like BEFORE rooting. The instructions I used only mentioned the former and so that's all I did. Maybe I've locked myself out for good.
Thanks again, Pezos
Blimey, I really must have killed it! Surely someone out there can help me fix it?
