[Q] camera and bluetooth not working - HTC EVO 3D

I was recently givin a htc evo 3d phone, at the time it was locked to Rogers network. first think i did was factory reset then unlocked it so I could use my telus prepaid sim.
now the camera wont work at all, if I use the shortcut or button the camera icon flashes on the screen for a second and goes back to home screen, so I tried adding a camera app (camera Effects) to see if that would access it, but get an error saying
"camera error" cannot connect to camera
I also notice that I am unable to turn on bluetooth, I see the switch but it just wont turn on, no errors.
the person I got it from said these where working before, but after I did factory reset I did software update now they dont, I read somewhere it was an issue with the software, so was wondering if there was a way I could force another firmware to the phone (older or newer) to correct this issue.
now the phone has
android version 4.0.4
htc sense version 3.6
software number 3.28.631.1
any ideas?

shameless bump

Hello, I'm not an expert on this, I'm new to evo 3D, did you try any RUU to see if your problem is solved? I don't think it's a hw problem because you told that after factory reset problem appeared. Hands crossed

When i used the ruu on my evo.the bluetooth was unable to start. What i did it was just using the lastest ics ruu.

If you are rooted, S-OFF or unlocked bootloader you could install a custom rom to check if the problem persists. If not, I don't know any more things, talk to experts

have you unlocked your boot loader?
installed a custom rom?
because you stated that your android version is 4.0.4
Have you ever tried to install a custom rom or custom kernel?
i had wifi problem since i tried to install nonsense rom.
I installed my nandroid backup of the stock rom. everything became normal

I am fairly new to this, I am not sure what RUU is...
I have not rooted (I assume thats much like jailbreak?) nor done anything to the phone except unlock it via unlock code So I could switch carriers.

flashing ROM problem

I got the Thunderbolt the first day it came out and I've loved it ever since. I rooted it early before there was a "one click" simple rooting tool using adb. I didn't flash any ROM's and played around with a few root apps. A Verizon update failed a few times so I unrooted the phone in an attempt to get the latest OS. Unrooting the phone didn't help so I just decided to live without the update since the first version had mobile hotspot for free. Mobile hotspot was all I really cared about so I left the phone unrooted. I now want to try some different ROM's so I rooted the phone and tried to flash some different ROM's. Everything went well up to the point that when I boot into another ROM, I get no service. Can anybody tell me why I get no service with the ROM's I've tried to boot? Verizon continues to try the update with no success. Even if I try to update from within my original ROM, it fails every time.

Are you unlocked and s off? The issue you are having with your signal may be because you need an updated radio.

[Q] CM9 Unofficialy

If there is already a thread for this then sorry but i couldnt find any....
Was wondering if anyone has tried using it or is using it.reason asking is because im having a radio issue with it.it connects to 3g at first then i either wind up losing data connection or losing signal alltogether even tho im in a full signal area.It really does this when coming off wifi.
I have tried using airplane mode and that seems to help to a point but most of the time i wind up having to reboot it inorder to get my signal and data back.Is anyone else having this issue or ran it and had the issue? is there a fix for it or something i need to do on my end to stop this?
I am currently using J.Y.Daddy's GSM patched CM9 (17/05/12 build). I personally have not had any issues regarding the radio, and my connectivity for both 3g and wifi has been fine.
I think this is a fairly common problem for some people, so perhaps you can try asking in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552166
I think we should get as much info as we can about all handsets that have this problem, then keep an eye out for any commmon elements that could be the cause.
I am using a XT910 (Asia.retail stock rom on purchase...unsure as to HK region or other as I lost that nandroid backup after a corrupt drive), I have updated my fastboot file to the most recent Asia.retail I could find (the non HK one from memory), and I live in Australia (in case that matters).
Which fastboot are you using, and GSM or CDMA?
Hope I can help.
Im using cdma....stock rooted verizon with bootsrap touch....

Hmm, ok, as we do not have the XT912 in my country, I may not actually be the best for advice here.
I have a feeling that the majority of the radio issues are with the CDMA phones. If you are on stock rooted, then I think it is safe to say that the fastboot files won't be the issue here. Where abouts did you get your copy of CM9? Is it from the site itself, or here on the forums?
Only other thing I can think of is that I think I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the razr bootstrapper app was causing some problems with some users.
Have you heard of/tried using SafeStrap as an alternative? IIRC it is another version of a reboot recovery which is exclusive to the Verizon XT912 and many people who reported issues after flashing roms with bootstrap did not encounter the same errors with SafeStrap.
When I get home from TAFE I will try to find the links where I got this information from and provide some more help! CM9 is a fantastic rom which I cannot recommend enough, so let's try and figure this out!
Yes i have originally used safe strap v1.9..i have the same problem with aokp.ive wiped 4 times before install n still same problem.
Could it be not wiping enough or right places cause when i had my sgII there was a custom wipe zip inorder to properly wipe the areas needed.they had said cwm had caused issues while using factory wipe data/cache...
Alot of people didnt know cm9 was even avalible.i love cm9 personally.have used it since my hd2 days...i know there is a patch to make cdma roms on gsm i wonder if there would be able to have a patch for gsm to cdma?
I have installed from stock rooted, eclipse, black ice....have tried everything i know of....miss my cm9

[Q] HOX+ WiFi/SIM/Bluetooth Error

Hi Guys,
I desperately need help, i have a new HTC One X+ bought online from Hong Kong, I unlocked the bootloader through HTCDev and then tried to root the device using RootBootV5, this was all with the stock rom installed.
All of a sudden my sim, bluetooth and wifi will not work, when I say wont work I mean the phone looks like it has no sim inserted, and the bluetooth and wifi wont even switch on.
I tried wiping the rom with CWM and installing AOSP ROM, the rom installed fine but the problem persists.
Do I need to re-flash the radios or something?
Please can someone help me!!

I had the same problem on my first go. What I did was re-locking the bootloader and then reflash the original firmware (from desktop). All worked fine again. Then I unlocked again and rooted (also via rootbootv5). Maybe it would have been enough just to flashboot a propoer boot.img and any of the fine stock-derivative roms... However, I do not advise to use CWM. I had odd results with that (including failing nandroid). Since I use TWRP as recovery, all is just fine...
Mmm was thinking of doing that but I couldn't find the original RUU anywhere on the net, any ideas?

However, I needed to subscribe to the site and it is one of those subscriptions you cannot cancel, so I ended up blocking my credit card and ordering a new one... quite a hassle. This was roughly a month ago, maybe your lucky and there are mirrors now...

Lost radio after kernel install

So tonight I've run into an issue that confounds me. I am a veteran flasher of roms and kernals and never have I found myself so stuck.
I did the following:
1. I applied Facepalm S-Off to my phone earlier and it worked fine, data still worked.
2. I later went to flash Beastmode. I was running Cubed and forgot to reset to stock before flashing.
3. My phone wouldn't boot. So I flashed back Cubed with Fastboot, and the phone boots.
The issue is that now I have no radio. I see the Verizon Wireless on the lockscreen and there are bars on the top bar, however whenever I try to make a call, it says call ended unexpectedly (paraphrase) and whenever I send a text it says SMS Problems. I have wifi, but I need my phone to work as a phone! It also says "Preparing SIM" every few minutes. Any ideas what could be wrong here?
I am currently on NOS N7 with the included Beastmode Kernel.
Thank you in advance for helping me out! I'm a little lost here.
I really hate to bump things, but I need a phone that is... well a phone. If anyone can help that would be great. I am going to have to go to Verizon if not. I have reset everything including unlock flags to stock in preparation of that sad reality.
flash a stock rom and different kernel

Return to lock using "fastboot oem lock"
Download HTC DROID DNA’s RUU.exe, this is a stock firmware by HTC, which contain radio, systems and bootloader.
make sure that your phone is being detected by your computer. then reboot it into bootloader. When you see Fastboot USB in the middle section run the ruu.exe on your computer.
This should repair bootloader and radios.

Thanks for your answer. I've tried return to stock with success and now my phone is in full stock state but it keeps showing preparing sim card every two or three minutes exactly as it was before. When I switch the phone to 2g the problem is gone, I bought this phone online and I'm a gsm user so I own the most expensive 2g phone in market.
Phone was perfectly working in all roms and almost every kernel, the problem came up just when I flashed beastmod 4.3 kernel then I went into bootloops and I flashed stock kernel and it booted since that I've been with this issue. I'm gonna try different sim cards because I don't believe this is a software issue anymore.

Problem

Hi guys > i flashed uptil now more than 6 ROMs .. everything is fine but wifi always does not work .. it even do not start
multiple press on its icon causes the device to restart
im using htc desire 816 Dual sim
i will be grateful to recieve any help
I'm assuming you have no working backups? If not... Big mistake. You should always backup before installing a new Rom.
I suggest you download an RUU and go back to unrooted, locked boot loader, completely factory stock and see if WiFi works. If not your issue may very well be hardware related.
