[Q] Archos 80 cobalt overclock - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
I got bought a archos 80 cobalt and love it , but i was wondering if there is anybody out there that got it overclocked?
i got it rooted and its still on his stock firmware and stuff.
He's running on 1.6Ghz dual core right now but even when its a small boost to 1.7Ghz would be amazing , so any gpu and cpu overclocks are welcome
Android 4.0.4
Kernel 3.0.8+

Really? No dev is going to listen to you.
Just dl a rom and siyah kernel and over clock your device. The s2 can handle pretty much any game even at 1000mhz.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Sorry dude but... even stock roms can handle all the current games on market...
If you wish to tweak your device do as kilometers4 said... flash any rom with siyah kernel...
Gaming kernel/script sounds more likely to be made

Why? S2 runs perfectly any game available for Android. Stock rom, AOSP, you name it. Dual-core processor and a high-quality GPU makes the combo.
Imo galaxy s2 runs every game
But not perfectly some of them gets laggy some, times like modern combat 3
And overclocking aint an option for me
Because the device already gets way to hot when playing games

I am agree with this topic. plz dev. make a rom for hard core gamers
Just install light , optimised kitkat rom (ex. SlimSaber 4.4.4). Instal DorimanX kernel , set CPU speed 400Mhz min -1300Mhz (1400 if your CPU can handle that) , set maximum GPU speed to 400Mhz (440 if you GPU can handle that). Use odemand/row as a awake grov./schred. . Remember. SII is a 2011 Double Core 1GB ram device!

What's your Quadrant/Antutu score?

Thought it'd be interesting to see what kind of performance everyone is getting with their players. Also if someone has a vastly higher score maybe we can figure out which tweaks make the largest difference.
There's a lot of different configurations out there by now and putting a numerical value to it seems like a cool idea! My score is derived from the 'full benchmark' in both quadrant and Antutu.
For those that don't have the apps, here are some market links!
Antutu Benchmark - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5hbnR1dHUuQUJlbmNoTWFyayJd
Quadrant Standard Edition - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mFzb2Z0d29ya3MucXVhZHJhbnQudWkuc3RhbmRhcmQiXQ..
Make sure to close all running apps while benchmarking. Changing your CPU governor to "performance" will also give you a better score and take the CPU governing out of the benchmark equation.
If you reply, please include the following answers -
What player do you have? 4.0/5.0/other?
Are you running gingerbread or ICS - what ROM?
What kernel?
What are you overclocked to?
What filesystem? EXT4/RFS/other
What's your best score? Antutu/quadrant
Mine is -
What player do you have? 5.0
Are you running gingerbread or ICS - what ROM? Gingerbread, don't remember the name but it's stockish

I just retested mine setting the CPU governor to performance and it vastly improved my scores. I have my on-demand governor set to be super responsive but I guess it doesn't jive with the benchmarking too well. It improved one of my scores by almost 1000 points though
Thanks to everyone who's replied so far! Looks like everyone for the most part is at least in the same ballpark.
Also added market links for people who don't have the apps yet. :good:
INTL 4.0 @1,3 Ghz, ext4

I will vary from day to day, but on a good day I can get over 2800 on Quadrant. I just ran Antutu with it plugged into my pc, and I got 3724. I will add a breakdown of each score below.
Kernel:Terrasilent V1.3.5
Filesystem: EXT4 with a LOT of extra mount options
Rom: EtherealRom V2.2 (as yet to be released)
OC: 1.5GHZ with smartassV2 (stable, but with insane overvolting)
I/O governor: VR
Antutu: 3724
CPU:1153
GPU:1440
RAM:502
I/O:628
Quadrant (randomly run): 2773
CPU:2021
Mem:1692
I/O:7315
2D:467
3D:2368
NOTE: my player has been a little wonky due to last-minute bugs, and I am probably getting a lower score than I should.
Help!
Ok, now how the hell do you guys score such high points on your Quadrant?!
I am currently running getting about 1,400 to 1,500 on my SGP 5.0.
Specs:
OS: 2.3.5 Gingerbread (Original ROM so far)
Kernel: 2.6.35.7 (Original Kernel)
Overclock: Tegrak Overclock to 1.5ghz
256MB RAM Swapper
Seeder lag reduction on "Moderate" mode.
I/O: Deadline.
All the rest remains untouched.
My detailed scores:
CPU: 2,043
Mem: 1,654
I/O: 913
2D: 467
3D: 2,098
Can anyone give me a light here?
When I was runny icy fusion I got about 2000 in quadrant. When I was running ethereal I got 2200 @ 1.0ghz and 2536 @ 1.2ghz

The scoring is different for each benchmarker. Also antutu changed their scoring this year as well.

oh okay
on CM 10.1 last alpha build (1000 mhz) quadrant showed me only 1153
oh no! what now?
tbh it is the smoothest and best performing rom and kernel out of there. Games work better than on 1,5ghz 2.xx.x kernel

[Q] Xperia NEO V - OC problem

Hi!
I've got xperia neo v with custom kernel alliance (with oc up to 1,8ghz) and custom ROM revolution ICS. And when I'm in cpu freq options, there is no higher freq than 1,6ghz. Why?
Alliance kernel supports oc till 1.6 ghz not more than it! Thats the reason! Oc beyond 1.6 ghz wil kill your phone! So dont oc beyond it!
General threads are made for purpose! Pls use them instead of creating new thread!
Sent from my Xperia Neo V using Tapatalk 2
Just a suggestion....U can oc your phone upto 1.6 GHz but since SOME of the users experienced random reboots on 1.6 GHz so I won't recommend more than 1.4 GHz as the phone runs smooth on it
Cheers,
AJ

I guess you are talking about pwnkernel it has options till 1.8 ghz
No other kernel I know of have options of 1.8 as its risky for the phone
You may have to face some adverse issues like dead pixels, extreme heating up,instability etc
The devs do not want the new users to end. Up damaging their phone!

GTA 3 & Vice City Wont run on MTK6589T Device [IOCEAN X7]

I have an IOcean X7 Elite Specs are as follows:
CPU - MTK6589T ARM V7 Quad Core
GPU POWERVR SGX 544MP
RAM - 2GB
I've been trying to download GTA 3 and Vice City however it appears incompatible with my device on the Google Play Store and when i tried to download it manually it force closes. This makes no sense to me as I've been reading about the performance of the MTK6589's performance on these games which means that it should be compatible with my phone. I'm currently running a LEWA ROM however when I was running the stock ROM they still appeared as incompatible.
Can anyone with a phone using this CPU confirm that these games are compatible and how I'd install them on my phone.
BTW This is the ROM I'm using - http://www.needrom.com/mobile/iocean-x7-elite-lewa/
Thanks

I dont think it has something to do with hardware , its kernel issues and not all games are compatible with fhd screens .
I have got the youth version and cant even play Csr racing . Solitaire which is a simple game runs very slow and other games .

but the htc one and galaxy s4 don't have these issues.

Diferent hardware and diferent kernel versions , thats the thing about chinese phones , they built a good phone , hardware wise looks good but not much time spent on software developing i guess .

MTK6589T its a overclocked version of the MTK6589 , its better because it runs at 1.5ghz but thats it ! You get 2000/2500 more points on antutu . correct me if im wrong !

If you really want to play GTA vice city on your phone you may try to follow the following steps, but take a NANDROID BACKUP before doing this because it can easily give you issues since I've never tested it on this phone (it worked on my china tablet).
copy build.prop in your sd card so you can restore it in case of problems
change the following lines in original build.prop
Code:
ro.product.model=GT-I9300
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=m0xx
ro.product.device=m0
ro.product.manufacturer=samsung
reboot
This mod will not increase playstore compatibility, but should help this kind of games to not force close when you have already installed in your phone.
To increase playstore compatibility do the following:
Backup /system/etc/permissions
Download this file www . dropbox . com/s/96q0w0rpmpyuvsi/xmlfiles.zip and copy all permissions inside /system/etc/permissions
Set files permissions to rw-r-r
Go to settings->apps->Google Play
Click on Clear data
Reboot
If anything goes wrong you'll need to restore previows permissions/build.prop.
I can say that vice city runs on my Iocean x7 turbo, didnt try GTA3
