Oh the irony. My dad is selling his as well.

$80 Streak 5 +++ won't turn on
Only $80 for dead Streak 5, back plate, replacement battery, leather look cover
After charging battery...inserted into phone got an error message "insert back cover before powering on"
hard booted, installed battery and back plate.... powered on and Dell logo appeared. Lost patience viewing logo which didn't change
after 4 minutes. So, I pulled battery and can't get it to turn on again.
Purchased yesterday for parts mainly cuz screen is in much better shape than mine.
I could use some help as Dell support informed me that my working mini is an Australian version. When I try to upgrade the O.S.
I receive an error message "turn on WiFi before upgrading software" even though WiFi is on

would anyone interested in a working streak 5 in good condition for $150?
with dell car holder, 3 dell usb cable, original charger, box.

Did you get a replacement phone.

Just curious as I just ordered a replacement phone today if anyone who has gotten one has had problems or noticed any difference in the screen. I ask because when I look at the order details on T-mobile site it says "High Resolution Screen." Probably just a generic term they are throwing in there but the other 2 bits of info are phone specific...well, kind of Samsung Vibrantâ„¢
* High Resolution Screen
* 1Ghz Processor
* 16 GB Built-in Memory
Like I said I'm just curious. I'll know what I have in a few days.
I got mine today. Same screen as the one I bought from t mobile. I'm guessing they are describing the super amoled screen

Gf got one a few days ago and its all the same. No.worries. I would still check it all out and make sure it all works ofc.

Thanks guys. Like I said I was just curious. No matter what it will still be better than my back up phone I'm using now. A 3 year old Blackberry Pearl that doesn't even have wifi let alone 3G connectivity. I'll be glad to be back on Vibrant and happily wait the 30 - 60 seconds for media scan as opposed to the five minutes I did this morning with the Pearl.

[Q] Worth selling my rooted Vibrant for Steak 5?

Hi guys
i have had my vibrant since September. I love the phone and they are still fetching a nice price on ebay and craigslist. I have lusted over the streak 5 since its releaae and am very attracted to tthe five in. Screen. Do you think it would be worth it
to do so? i would very much like you guys input!
thanks in advance!
-Mike
PS i dont care that the early versions only support edge. I get great service with t mobile but at my house i only pick up edge anway...at work i do have 3g but i dont even use my phones data aince i sit at a cubical all day lol
once you feel and use the 5" screen you will be in love!! my best buy had it on display, i played with it for a bit and was hooked, i am on my second streak, the first one has a cracked screen and i managed to get in on the $199 dell deal for a new streak, so the old one is on craigslist
I was on the same path and I upgraded to the Dell Streak. My thoughts:
Vibrant's advantages:
* Better camera
* Better camcorder
* Brighter, more contrast, more vibrant screen
Streak's advantages:
* Much bigger screen screen
* Working GPS
I don't regret moving to the Streak
Advise is good Guys but please no one ask how much he wants for the Vibrant and so one Thanks
Market place is for that
The two downsides of streak
1. Camera
2. WIsh had more developers to work on this phone ( no offence to steve )
Thanks for all the input guys!
My Vibrant GPS problem was on stock Eclair, worked fine after I rooted and flash NeroV3 2.2 Rom with Gingerbread UI. I love the way it runs, and wouldn't get rid of it for any other phone currently other than the Streak 5
Any other thoughts and or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Any other recomendatiions, suggestions, comments? Think im making the right move?

I used my streak gps 3 times for navigation and it worked.flawlessly. I never had any luck with my vibrant on att.

Well, won an unlocked dell streak the seller mistakenly advertised as "sprint clean esn" Obviously, its not a sprint phone and the seller even stated "unlocked for t mobile and att" and is stated to be in excellent condition. I won the auction for $203 free shipping, one for those powersellers gazelle or something was the seller.
My Vibrant is on eBay now and ends tonight
Thanks for the help ya'll!!

You will love your streak, and dont let all the crap about the camera bother you it does its job fine fit for a phone camera, use a real camera if its that important to you... mine came with the 347 retail build and I rooted with gingerbreak and couldn't have been happier, I then tried to move to the 351 build and it didn't work so I'm now running streak droid 1.9 and will never go back to stock gps kills on the streak its better then some gps units I have used! Enjoy and welcome to the community.

Thank your for your kind words! Finally a "constructive" response
I know I will love the Streak. I was hard letting go of the Vibrant, but the Streak just "grabs me emotionally". I actually ended up selling the Vibrant for more than I paid for the streak! (just a little, but still)
I don't really care about picture quailty, I'm not a facebook picture posting fiend lol, I have a digi camera also! I have an otterbox Commuter on my watch list as we speak, and I plan on keeping my rooted LG Optimus T as my back up.
Thanks for the welcome and I can't wait to start modding this beast
I was looking at the otterbox stuff too but the streak is just so sexy and sleek I couldn't do it so I got a tpu hard gel case which will keep the thinness and they are like 4 bucks on ebay in any color... Also on streak droid with a slight overclock I score like a 1600 in quadrant and like 6000 in cm3 so the streak can scream.

Thanks for the info. My girlfriend has 2 TPUs for her Vibrant and i just had a basic silicone one which did fine..ill just go the tpu route then because of your suggestions. I do hate seeing thick ass otterboxes on BB's and i phones and i do hate the "fattness" of them. Thanks

Just order a black TPU case for $3.99 with free shipping...beats the hell outta paying $$$ for an otterbox
The otterbox stuff is supposed to actually protect your phone, thats why it's bulky. The only thing that tpu case will protect the phone from is the keys in your pocket and even then you still need a screen protector.

Really ok well i will test this once i get my case tomorrow, i will drop it from head height and see, because in all reality anything thats covering the phone itself is going to add protection whether its a hard gel case or a 1/4 gaudy rubber and plastic case, its still going to keep the phone from becoming scratched or nicked etc...

Thanks!! The seller just shipped it out today via FedEx w/ tracking info (I ordered Saturday) and I can't wait!
But seriously, this Optimus T is quite amazing for the stupidly cheap price I paid for it on craigslist. Rooting it was a snap with z4root and I loaded a crap-ton of root only aps and used SytemApp uninstaller to remove most of the bloatware, bull**** demo's etc. I even threw in a 16gb microsd card loaded with music and pictures.
Have a good one!
i have just moved over to dell streak from htc desire hd and galaxy s (european) i miss my galaxy s that was great. the only thing i would say is developement. i still havent rooted this yet cause i cant seem to find any roms what say their stable. themes. i loved the ability to try different themes and make y phone look beautiful but the dell streak i cant seem to find anything. its def down to developement. if the streak has the same attention and options as the galaxy s then i would def stay with the streak but the lack of developement has got me down

FedEx tracking says I should get mine tomorrow. Hope AT&T is better with Dell updates than they were wiyh the SE updates. It took almost a year for AT&T to release 2.1 after all the other SE handsets were already running it.

Dell is not great with updates, but unless you bought an on-contract phone your Venue from Dell should be the unlocked version. That means the AT&T specific apps won't be there and that AT&T has nothing to do with the update process.
From what I have read there have been no OTA updates anywhere except Korea for the Venue. See the wiki page for rom versions and this thread for discussion.
Keep in mind that you are buying a phone that is a year old and has not been supported well. It works great for what it is and it quite possibly might never be more. I just bought one and love it. I got a great phone (well after two days I still think it's great) and no lock in with a contract extension and no AT&T app crap to deal with. I thought it was worth the full price so the refurb price is fantastic.
According to the support rep I spoke to, Korea was the "test" bed for the new update. More updates are to be rolled out in the upcoming months in other areas.

A US upgrade would be great, but I really hope it will give potential to a custom ROM.
Got my phone. This thing is blows my X10i on 2.1 with JIT out of the water in speed. The screen is amazing! But, I had to call Dell less than 24hrs after getting it to have a replacement sent out. For some odd reason, the screen won't come back on during and after phone calls??? Talked to my wife on it Friday morning and she usually lets me hang up on my end so she won't have to mess with the bluetooth on her radio. Well, after hearing her phone shuffle around in her purse for 10min while I tried to get the screen to come back on, I finally had to pull the battery.

Did you put a screen protector on the phone? Does it cover the proximity sensor? (the proximity is just to the right of the ear hole at the top of the phone. Same question for a case.
Just wondering.

That seems to be the whole problem. The proximity sensor does not work. I can cover it up with my hand and the screen does not respond to it. I have no accesories on it yet so...

It's funny. I saw the posting on engadget about this, and was curious how the forum would react to it. I am intrigued. I just am not sure if :
a. I am brave enough to rip open my RAZR to perform surgery.
b. want to part with my device that long to get it upgraded.
c. want to spend more money on this device, as I have a horrible track record of changing devices after a year to 18 months, and I am almost 5 months in.

A year is an eternity with a phone. I am lucky to keep a phone for more than two months. I once switched three phones in day.
For me it mostly depends how much it costs to have them install it for me...
At a reasonable price I'd definitely look into it later on... I like to aim for 24 months of phone usage before switching and it's been only one so far...

Ya need a white kit.
This is listed at Cellphone Repair Shop's listing for the conversion kit:
" Professional installation fee is $9.95 This a Genuine Motorola Level 2 Part, therefore you must ship your phone to our national repair center to be serviced by an Authorized Motorola Technician. We're sorry but this part is not sold without installation service."
That's not a bad price for installation but I can't be without my phone if it takes 2 weeks to service.

I'll wait for some more time to pass to see if this works correctly, if any more/better kits come along, etc. etc. , I am in no rush to get one as my stock battery works just fine as is now. It is piece of cake to change the battery but they are darn expensive.
I paid $300 for my razr and now to sell out $100 more..... that is ridiculous.
But I really want a better battery life.
When are these shipping? Or have they started already?

I don't believe that they have done anything yet with the kits.
I myself and trying to figure out what I want to do since you really need to send in your phone or not? I guess it depends on warranty as well, may have to send them in in order to keep it active.
You no longer need to send the phone in .
They have a disclaimer that holds them harmless if you screw it up.
Anyone tried and succeeded?

I don't understand the point of shelling out 100+ dollars with a chance of killing your phone. You can buy an external battery for around 20 bux at monoprice and it can be use to charge your tablet, phone or anything that take the mini/micro usb charge.

Replacement note so much better

Here's an interesting thing. I am on my third note with the other two being replaced due to screen and USB plug issues respectively. I get my new note and it is remarkably better. The GPS works where it couldn't even lock before and the phone itself is sooo smooth. It this how it was supposed to work the whole time?

Sent my Note in a week before my warranty was up to have the screen fixed. Now the screen is much better than it ever was before. The screen was great before but it is noticeably sharper and brighter. My buttons are also super bright now. I think the screen has to be a hardware upgrade that could only be in a new Note or replacement screen.

Yes ....but with a one time, $36.00 upgrade charge.
I've been a customer with them for nearly 15 years, since the early days and I also hold a level one business account.
So results for others will likely not be the same.
I've got 11 contracted devices in service with ATT, for my employees.
Having device replacements coming is much easier under those conditions.
They also let me keep the new device, and the tech told me to sell it for parts or repair the button and sell a new working device.
I've got a new power button coming Monday, and a shop I use regularly that will fix it for me too sell.
All together I'm placing 5 devices and their cases, chargers and packaging up for sale this week as I'm getting ready for the move into the note 2 this Tuesday.
I'm planning to stay around the note 1 section for a while, as we have many new users needing help from those of us who have been around this device for a while.
And I've also got duties to perform with the super thread and our Korean note users needing a section built inside the super thread space.....g
