Hi there,
Has anyone else observed strange battery drain issues on 80xs when a SD card is inserted?
I have observed the following:
When an SD card is mounted, my tablet looses 40-60 percent of battery in standby over night. Also system settings tell me that the tablet does not really sleep most of the night.
Without an SD card inserted, tablet looses about 5 percent during night time.
I tried three different cards (brand and size), they all show pretty much the same results.
I have seen lots of posts related to bad cards and battery drain on several devices etc. Based on my findings above, I am wondering if this "keep my card busy thing" could be related to either a broken slot in my hardware or if it could be Android related an could be fixed with an update from Archos?
Regards from Germany

I have exact same problem. Also my tablet at night can freeze and turn it on you can only if use the reset option(10 sec power hold). I want to understand what is the problem: in hardware of the tablet/his software/bad card?
PS: I'm using Transcend 32Gb microSDHC class 10. And what card did you try?
AW: Arches 80xs - SD card & battery drain?
I tried San disk 8 GB class 4, NoName 16 GB class 6 and Samsung 32GB class 10. The APP sdcardmonitor shows ejects and umounts pretty much all 10-20 minutes.
I have contacted Archos support in this ... lets See what they tell.

here is the answer from the Archos support to me:
Dear Customer,
If your tablet is connected to the Internet, then go to Apps > Settings > About Device > Firmware update to see if a firmware update is available.
If your tablet is not connected to the Internet, you can update your device by downloading the latest firmware to your computer and transferring it to your ARCHOS using the USB cable. See the ‘How to install a firmware’ on the download page of the ‘Support’ section.

Did they even know that there is only one frimaware fo this tablet: Archos 80XS OS v 201211.30. It is not a very competent answer.
AW: Arches 80xs - SD card & battery drain?
Agreed. How long did you wait for that great answer? I am awaiting feedback now for three days already. I am hoping that someone really is trying to reproduce this on their end ... hope dies last
tapatalk HD @ B92M
Replied the next day. But I wrote in response that there is only one frimeware, and asked for more competence answer. Now waiting...
Hey, got any news? Let me remind you that I have a tablet hung with a black screen (a process during sleep starts to run) awakens only rebut. And of course the battery while "asleep" eating much. After blocking a large number of services (mainly the ones that do not use) the situation is slightly improved. But hang happen anyway. Archos support did not answer, though I tried several times to write them. How are you coming along?
Well ... hope is still a strategy. Have not heard back from Archos support yet although I asked for an update last week. I found others with the same issue in a German forum ... so my hope still is: Archos is working on this. Nevertheless, they could give at least some feedback ...
tapatalk HD @ Archos 80 xs
Update: last week my patience was gone. I called Archos Phone support, explained the whole story of not comming back on web based trouble tickets. They promised to take care of it and to come back to me. Believe it or not, one day later I received a call, telling me that this issue is now handed to the developer team. As soon as there are news, they will call me again ....
... let's see ...
tapatalk HD @ Archos 80 xs
well, let's see...
Update:
Official feedback ist "broken hardware", we will start a hardware exchange process now. I am awaiting the instructions for the exchange process ... should receive them via email soon.

@Hellsangel696:
Is your tablet rooted? If yes, what method did you use?
Mine was rooted until yesterday. I stepped back to stock firmware to ensure a proper hardware exchange process. Having done this, all works well with my SD card ... at least for the last 24 hours. No battery drain, no strange behaviour.
So I am wondering if all this relates to the rooted kasty image I installed ...

Yes, finaly I have an update. I started an RMA process with Archos long time ago (about 5 weeks) and received a brand new Archos 80xs two days ago.
It really looks like a hardware issue - the new one did not yet loose SD cards ... I will have an eye on this and will give another update in some days.
Thanks for your answers. I think i haven'T got battery drain problem. But my problem is bigger than that. My tablet is crashes so much. Is this because of sd card?
And one more question After my factory reset archos' gift Office suit pro 6 gone. How can i install again?

Hello All,
My first post here - I just got my new Asus TF Prime today... Beautiful tablet
I just have a couple of q's - Is there anything I should do first up, after I open it and charge it?
I have to do the upgrade to android 4.0 and I saw the instructions in the Asus TF Prime support page. Is that the easiest / best way? I saw that there are 10 different firmware versions and they do mention instructions on how to get the correct firmware. But for some reason, I find it confusing. Can someone let me know how to chose the right firmware for upgrade? I am in Helsinki, Finland and I got the TF Prime from Helsinki, Finland.
Is it necessary for me to install a security suite on the tablet?
PS., I have seen the wonderful accessories guide here and I plan to get some soon like the stylus / cover...
Thanks and see you all around.. Cheers.
Step 1: avoid trolls/douchebags that flood this forum nowadays....
anyway once you are charged up go into the settings then about tablet and check for new firmware and upgrade to ICS. Then you need to decide if you want to root the tablet or not.
After you update to ICS, do a factory reset, for silky smooth operating...
Congrats

Congrats with your TF Prime!
You probably have the WW SKU, so I guess that is the one you should look at that one (Version V9.4.2.15(WW)
Check the SW version under "settings", but I guess yours will be World Wide Rom.
Enjoy your TF Prime, mine has been ordered today.
Cheers!!!

Verry important, and do it before you install anything, saves a lot of time.
Step 2: post thread comparing it to The new iPad
Hello people,
Thanks a lot and lol on some msgs...
I am charging it up now and I will check the SW version in a while.. but on the box, I see "Android WW"... so I assume its the android ww rom?
Also, on the keyboard dock sticker, it says "Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich" - Does this mean it has already shipped with the Android 4.0 OS? Anyway, I will check in the settings once I turn it on.
PS., how do I do the factory reset? From within the settings like in any other android 4.0 OS?
Thanks again and cheers.
PPS., I don't have no iPad and so, no comparison..
The good things:
Check out a few games, they rock on the Prime. There are a number of "THD" marked games that give the 3D performance a workout and show off the hardware and display very well. Emulators, especially with a bluetooth joystick paired to it, work great. Check out performance of video with some good movies. Check out Splashtop (comes with the tablet) and if you're inclined, check out Splashtop THD (basically Splashtop but makes higher resolutions available, and smooooooth streaming for HD files). Decide whether to root, add things like CIFS support for connecting to your home network. Put a new launcher on it, organize your shortcuts into folders, get a new wallpaper on it using wallpaper wizardrii, chat with some friends using Skype or Talk.
The preventative steps, to do while in your return period, and before you decide to unlock it...some of these issues may require RMA or a return/repurchase or selection of a different unit for some people:
-Verify it has a serial number shown in settings, and that you are able to receive OTA updates.
-Check out the overall performance of wifi, decide if it's good enough for your needs.
-Check the performance of the GPS. It likely doesn't perform very well.
-Try pairing a bluetooth headset and listening to streaming music or watching a movie over wireless, check out internet speeds with and without bluetooth.
-Check for light bleed along edges of the screen
-If you plan on using the keyboard dock, check out the various threads on cracked screens and decide if you want to take preventative steps or get an extended warranty, etc.

Agreed. Update your tablet before you install any apps and then do a factory reset. Some people noted software glitches after they upgrade their device and it is much easier to to a factory reset before you install a lot of apps.

To check for an update go to Settings > About Tablet > System Firmware Update.
Even though your tablet shipped with ICS, it might not have the latest update for this tablet.
To reset your tablet go to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
Great ideas for new owners. Got plenty to do looking for problems before downloading any kind of applications.

Hi People,
Thanks again for the msgs and info.
I checked and it says Android 4.0.3 in settings (and yes, there is the serial number too).
I am yet to connect to wifi / bluetooth and all that. I will soon. Tablet as such looks great - no defects from the outside..
Btw, I noticed that there is no Swype option as an input method?! Is this true or am I missing something here? If there is no swype, then can I just download the Swype Beta from the official Swype website?
As for the apps., I still haven't installed anything yet.. I will in the coming days There are quiet a few essential apps I need to get in as well as get a micro sd card for 'expanded' memory.. lol (I need the micro sd card, because I'll be working with tons of PDFs and other documents).
Anyway, let me see how it goes Cheers..

before u rush off and buy an SD card, just to let you know that it sticks out slight giving a rough edge right where i cold the tablet in landscape mode, was quite annoying. just so you know it doesnt sit in as nicely as the blanker does... if u have an SD card kicking around give it a go and see if its annoying before u splash out...
You cant shave anything off the end of the card, ive tried, the silicone chip is so close to the end

Of course, yes Dropbox, evernote, Adobe reader (or is there anything better for reading PDFs?), Skype, Opera Mobile etc., are all waiting to get in..
Btw, thanks a lot for the SD Card info. Yes, I do have an SD card lying around - I will check that..
Also, in one of my prev posts., I had asked info about the necessity for a security suite - do I need one? I mean, I don't install apps from outside the google android market in any case... still, do I need a security suite?
And does anyone have any idea for Swype?
Thanks again.
You can download the Swype beta from their website. It works quite nicely on ICS now. There are a few steps required to get Swype up and running, including creating an account on their website, downloading an installer, then the installer downloads and installs the Swype app. But it's worth it, IMO.
I've never used a security suite for my Android devices. Just be judicious in which apps you install.
If you don't mind paying a few bucks for an advanced PDF reader/annotator, consider ezPDF or RepliGo.
Step 4. Determine wherever its faulty or not BEFORE your return to retailer window expires, and never, ever rma it, well obviously unless you are past return window and something fails.
Step 5. Hopefully its all clear, and you can start enjoying it.

The default Asus software keyboard is swype-like, in that you can slide from one letter to the next. Kind of swype-lite.
If you decide to root and unlock, Read this, very important:

Best thing to do is just stay away from this forum and enjoy your tablet.
Hello again,
Thanks for the msgs (and yes, I'm enjoying this tablet)
Btw, I checked the firmware version: On the TF Prime it says, "IML74K.WW_epad-9.4.2.15-20120221"
and on the Asus website, in the support section for TF Prime, I see "Version V9.4.2.15(WW)" - Is this the one I should be looking at?
Also, As you can see, the version is the same but the dates are different: The one on the Asus website has "2012.02.29 update" where as the system has "20120221"... So should I just leave it as it is or should I update to the new firmware?
I got Swype beta downloaded / installed and its working fine. BT and Wifi are working great as well...
PS., I noticed that, for some reason, when connected to my PC (at work, Win 7 x64, home premium) through USB, it doesn't charge (it charges when I connected to my laptop, Win 7 x86, Ultimate)... Why so?
PPS., Another issue (and yes, I did search and read some threads on a similar issue - notifications do not clear out even after downloading / installing an app!! Is there any way to clear it? For instance, on my SGS2 phone, there is this 'clear' option... but I don't see any such option with the TF Prime. Is there any way to clear those notifications?
Cheers..
I successfully made a cyanomagen 7 sd card for my nook tablet after only 30 mins! And i spent 4 days trying to make one for my nook color and gave up in tears. Im so excited about it....but now that i got it to work and i can access google apps and downloaded apps.
Heres my questions
1. Im running dolphin browser...just fyi...its taking a long time to access any apps, web pages, functions, etc. So much that it says activity not responding like 90% of the time, once i press wait (instead of force close) it comes on after a few seconds usually? Is this really this slow? Am i doing something wrong? My wi fi signal is not best but it is still doibg it when im next to router.
2. Are there settings that should be modified, like data network or mobile network? Or anything else that will make it faster?. Im using 8 gb sd card.
3. What can i delete under apps...like obviously i cant call out or sms i dont think.so what other things can i or should i delete from tablet so i can free up space for future use.
Thanks.oh please use terms for a child..as im a mother of 4, not a techie....and i cant believe i even managed to get the sd card set up...and i just learned how to check my router settings..so be gentle.

it is not supposed to be slow like that. not responding... install the ( free and super cool ) little app called 'wifi analyzer' from the play store. it'll let you ( visually... totally cool ) see the signal you're working with. maybe your selected channel is being crowded by another ? it'll let you see that !
Already tried wifi analyzer!
Actually I did just that...I downloaded wifi analyzer, it is very cool, thats how I learned that routers where on dif channels and I then learned how to access my router! . I saw that my wi fi signal is around -78 to -89. Whatever that means, but it seems to be similar to what the 3 other signals around here are getting. I switched to several channels, but none seemed to give me a better signal. My router being set to automatic seems to work best. BUT as far as wi fi goes, I used my Nook in the same spot in my room and my cell phone and they dont lag and wifi connection seems to be the same, fluctuates between 1-2 bars on wi fi signal and downstairs I get 2 to 3 out of the 3 bars. But it still does the wait or force close slowness thing when I have 3 bars on my wifi signal sitting next to router. So...maybe there is something else slowing it down?
some kind of setting I changed on dolphin? or in CM?
Help. Kind pointless this way...
Laura
As to slow response time to access apps and functions, what brand SD card are you using. If it's anything but a Sandisk Class 4, then that's probably your trouble.
I had a similar problem but only from a SD card that wasn't a SanDisk, luckily most of my SD cards are actually SanDisk ones with some third party ink on the outside.

i agree. . . a booting sd card should be a 'class 4'. . . when the manufacturer makes a card with 'great' ( sequential ) speed, it hurts the card's ( small chunk of memory ) random read/write. . i am sorry... was too technical...
use a sandisk with a 4 in the circle.
.
this one works for me... five bucks a pop.

It says

HC 8GB
4 with a circle around it.
(from what I read HC is High Capacity)
So if thats the case, I am stuck with this until I buy a new San Disk?
Can I use this one to try to make one for the nook color or will I have the same problem?

I just received my 3rd tablet in the mail today under warranty. The first one became unresponsive to the touch screen and since it was in the Texas morning sun I thought it was my fault and bought another. The 2nd one did the same thing 4 months later even though I had taken extreme care with it, I sent this one back to the factory. I had rooted both tablets and was running versions of ICS from this site. Neither was overclocked although I do have the software to do that. I'm thinking I should stay with stock OS for a while and see if the 3rd time is the charm.
Anyone else have their tablet just mysteriously stop responding for no apparent reason? Other than the screen, everything else worked including mail and internet; I just could not unlock it to read anything.

Hi There
My touch screen stop working months ago!! I'm pretty sure it's a loose connection, If I build a fresh android from source and squeeze the top of the tab It sometimes comes back to life, I should have really sent it back but I've got a heavily modified version of adb that allows me to easily send input to it and I just plug a keyboard and mouse into a usb hub. I had another one that had "ghost touches".
I found the screen doesn't seem to like temperature changes and would get very cold to the touch If had it in my bag when travelling and really the build quality is terrible but It doesn't move off my desk as it is used only for development and I'm too lazy to send it back. meh!
With regard roms. if you were using stock rooted then the only difference between them and the stock is su, and extra busybox, everything else is as archos intended there shouldn't be anything detrimental in there. If you don't need root for anything then you might as well use stock.
--Thanks for the feedback. If someone gets Jellybean 4.1 operating for this tablet, I will root it again.
I'm on my second. Three first one had a problem worth the screen where it became greyscale soon after I started playing a youtube video. The first time it happened, I was somehow able to get it working again. The second time, I tried reloading the OS (honeycomb at the time) and resetting to factory settings and was unsuccessful.
I sent it back to QVC and got a replacement under warranty. I haven't had any problems with this one. I dropped it when getting into my car. The back came loose, but it easily snapped back into place with nothing but a few scratches on the side where it hit.

There is a small crack where the small screw is under the stand. Its causing the stand to pop open easy. Other than that the hardware is working perfectly.

So my replacement tablet is still working well, so now I want to root it again. The latest Archos firmware makes it a *****. Would it be better to use the console and reset the tablet before rooting?

I've got several Archos tablets, and overall... and oddly... I've had very few problems with any of them other that some bad firmware upgrades or a few bad apps (including some of Google's own stuff) that eventually got fixed. I guess I've been just lucky somehow with all of my G9's being older ones with only 512M RAM (which is a bit sad because I know 1G RAM would increase performance).
The MAJOR problem I've had all started when Archos released the newer 4.0.2x firmware releases. Had to find out how to install rooted stock 4.0.7 to get a usable device again.
I will agree though, that if Archos wants to being totally idiotic with their firmware and REFUSES to provide a clean way back to a previous firmware (that actually works)... well, I too will NEVER be buying any new Archos device. Only way I would buy another Archos is *IF* it was a G9 model and I was absolutely certain that it did not come shipped with firmware higher than 4.0.7. Otherwise, forget Archos completely!

I put in rooted 4.0.7 last night, than 4.0.28. Some odd things happening like games dropping out and unable to find wi-fi when moved to a different network unless I reboot the tablet. If this continues it's back to 4.07 for me.

The really sad part is that if you have ever installed ANY of the 4.0.2x official firmware is that even when trying to go back to a 'rooted' 4.0.7 there are a bunch of leftovers that just don't clear out. I've done some seriously drastic things like AFTER installing rooted stock 4.0.7 of going back with ADB and deleting several syestem/app files and the dalvick-cache... and then doing some of that a second time again. Even then though there still does seem to be some odd things left that ARE NOT part of the official Archos 4.0.7 firmware.
If you are interested send me a PM, otherwise it's really too hard to explain what I'm talking about (and might not even make sense in any reply I send you).
Anyway, as far as "I" am concerned, Archos just tried to screw up as many of the G9 tablets they could with the 4.0.2x firmware simply to try to FORCE people to buy their newer G10 tablets (which DO NOT WORK RIGHT either). Kind of the same STUPID attitude several other companies had before.... "Oh, that don't work, buy this one then".... Only real difference is THAT IDIOTIC APPROACH to marketing failed for the other companies... yet, Archos seems to 'think' they can still keep doing it.
In short, SIMPLY DO *NOT* BUY ANYTHING FROM ARCHOS! Some people wonder why most of the world hates the French, but Archos keeps giving more reasons to NOT TRUST a company based in France. The Archos G9 tablets COULD have become a world leader, but for whatever reason Archos decided they would rather kill of as many of a 'good thing' as they could just to push other even worse devices on the market... something to do with EVERYONE (mostly morons) that absolutely wanted Jelly Bean (and I'm not going to buy any new Android device with that worthless crap). So I'm not only done with Archso, but also any newer Android device... never wanted, still don't want, and never will want the crap Google is trying to turn the Android OS into.
After all, *IF* I wanted a device with a dozen apps that are constantly sending info back... well, I might just as well go with a Windows 8 device (since I know my Windows computers are already sending all kinds of feedback to Microsoft as it is, Google is trying to go BEYOND what Microsoft has already been doing for years.).
In other words... all *I* want is a device that actually works, NOT ONE THAT SPENDS ALL OF ITS TIME REPORTING EVERYTHING I DO BACK TO SOMEBODY ELSE. And don't give me any of the bogus 'anonymous' nonsense because EVERY device has a certain device number, and EVERY internet connection has an IP address. As soon as you register a device or set up an e-mail address THEY KNOW. And, Google is going FAR BEYOND what anyone should ever allow them to know about (your location, what websites you view, what your interests are, etc.).
Fingers crossed but I haven't had _any_ HW quality issues with my G9 80 8GB 1GB. I've tried most of the ROMs available and have noticed that every now and then it makes things a lot easier if I just completely format the device and re-install stock using a .aos file.

Thinking about doing the same thing as it wigs out sometimes and goes real slow.
Mine is crap. Battery blew up like a capri sun pouch just after the warranty expired, archos wants $77 to fix it. This is after I gave them a second chance when my 70 quit charging and they wanted $125 to fix that. Not even so much as a "sucks to be you", when i told them the story of their own products, they just reply with their repair costs. ill never touch their products again

I might still have the battery of my original one. Let me know if you want to try and use it. The wires are soldered, so its not plug n play.
101 g9
I got a 101 g9 and have touchscreen problems sometimes. when i get ghost inputs just recalibrate the touchscreen and when it stops working just "draw" and swipe with 4 fingers on the screen for a while. after a few seconds it comes back to usual behaviour. hope that helps others with that idiotic touchscreen...

I had planned on keeping it as a spare, but have decided if it dies on me a DNR order is in effect.
They sent me a new device
I leave here the last reclaim on the archos support
Hello, I´ve received a new device to replace the first one that I Had, all the info in RET-XXXXXXXXXXX, but the new device came with several problems:
Ram memory 465 mb !!!!???
Processor- ARMv7 Processor rev 3 (v7l)!!??? 1.2 MHz!!!!!
And a build/Fabric defect on de screen, that when you shake the device a water bubble seems to appear and ruins the image that is showing.
I do have photos of proof of all the defects, including a video with the water bubble showing when shaking.
I also sense that it is working a lot slower then the first one I had, for that went to check the real system info....and bad news came along.
Request a immediate re-change of the product, for one that has the specific system info that I paid for. 1 GB Ram, 1.5 dual core processor, Mali 400 GPU , and a screen without any defect!
Tank you
Regards
PS: I can send you the photos and videos of the problems encountered, just send me a email.
Call Tech Support immediately and tell them what you are seeing. They will run you through several tests and then send you a new unit.
Automatic Root, Fully functional ClockWorkMod image, and plethora of other awesome stuff here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297246
Thank you xboxexpert for all your hard work!
Step 1. Plug the device in to your computer and uninstall any drivers that may load.
Step 2. Download and update the Android SDK, including the USB Driver or try the PDANet drivers.
Step 3. Add the following line to adb_usb.ini found in your user directory in the .android folder (e.g. C:\Users\YourName\.android\):
Code:
0x109b
If the file does not exist, simply create it. This may require a reboot
Step 4. Load up ADB and check connectivity through the following command:
Code:
adb devices
Step 5. If everything reported correctly in the previous step, run Motochop.
Root directions
Thanks go out to tharien and ATGAdmin for figuring it out!
clockworkmod image - be sure to read the thread!
Thanks go out to pacman366!

Looks like you were one of the lucky few who were able to purchase this little gem early. Congrats on that. I picked mine up today and I must say that it is probably the best $150 I've spent in a very long time. It's the happiest I've been with a gadget purchase since scoring a BNIB 32GB HP TouchPad for $99 during the firesale. With that said, I hope to see more people coming to the forum with interest in the device. We can only speculate, but I would imagine this low-price and feature rich tablet will get the attention of at least a few developers and we'll get more info then. As for what I have been able to obtain, I'm stuck at the same roadblock as you. I'm bumping this thread for further interest.
I agree. Best spent $150 in a long while. Seems just as fast as my gs4.
Only cons are the screen and bulk, but for the price its a steal!!!
Hopefully it gets support for updates from hisense or the great xda devs start playing with this beast.
Root for this is needed, stat !!!
I'm thinking to sell my Nexus 7 16gb and get this since it has the hdmi and microsd slot.
I'm sure XDA guys will make this device a beast, right?
Will be interested in seeing is some deva pick this up as my main concern would be support.

I just picked one of these up on the way to work this morning. It is sitting on my desk charging as I am trying to get some work out of the way before I turn it on. I will be replacing a Kindle with this and just from eyeballing it my Kindle Seido case may be a perfect fit. I will test it tonight. It also appears that a Kindle screen protector will work for it as well. I would guess the Nexus 7 or other 7" protectors will work also, but I can use a ruler and verify the Kindle one since I already have that device.
Have you tried using the motochopper tool from djrbliss?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2233852
I would start with trying the root exploits that work on the Nexus 7 (Similar chip set?) and Android 4.2.
I don't have this tablet, so I have not tested to see if this does in fact work.
Random question, since this is the only thread about the Sero 7 Pro I've found.
How are the speakers? I have a Kindle Fire HD and I am pondering about the switch...
Also, can this support 64GB microSDs?
Also, I've heard reports of flawed Sero Pros popping up.
Does anyone have any firsthand experiences with how this tablet's holding up?
Thanks in advance!

The speakers a actually pretty loud. I was watching movies on it last night and was satisfied with the sound.
I saw some random comments (in the comments section) on various articles about this tablet but they all seem to be written by the same person based on the writing style and content.
Mine is holding up great. No issues at all and is as enjoyable as using my galaxy s4 but with a bigger screen. I'm testing out the battery today to see how long she lasts. If she lasts me the whole day of heavy use, she's a keeper.

How's the memory card compatibility?
64GB MicroSDs?
Add me to the list of buyers! Just got this about an hr ago. This is my 1st tablet and I must say this thing is nice. 15 days to decide to keep it or not. What root access.

The box states 32GB MSD. I only had a 16GB to stuff in it.
New owner here.
Did anyone else have to go to multiple stores only to deal with customer service that had no clue what you were looking for?
The first store I went to, they older guy was disgruntle I interrupted him, when I pressed him to do his job he couldn't spell Hisense.
Just picked up the Pro today, haven't opened it yet. As mentioned above, with the 15 days from Wally, I'll wait a bit to see if any devs pick it up. I have to say it does look like a terrific deal for the specs and if there is some XDA love for it, I'll give my GTab 2 to my wife.
I'll be searching this forum daily to see what shakes down.
@tharien,
First location I went to, walked in and went right to the display case, saw the Lite and Pro. Asked the nearest associate to open the case, checked out and left. Took less than 5 minutes.

Good to hear. I was also waiting to see if devs pick it up because I was looking for a tab for my wife and daughter. But don't want to hang them out with one that would be unsupported. Let us know how hdmi works as my wife would want that for work.

64GB microsdxc
I have a class 10 Sandisk 64GB microsdxc card in my sero 7 pro. It is not formatted as exFat since it came from a GS3 running a custom ROM.

I had to go to 2 different stores. The first store had a single 7 Pro Lite. The second store had 5-6 of both models.
I hope devs pick up this device too. Though I'll likely get one anyway...

As far as I know, this is a new Tablet. 7 inch Nvidia Terga3 1.3ghz quad core with 1gig of ram/8gb ROM. NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4ghz and 5ghz, front and rear facing cameras, 5 and 2 megapixels respectively, GPS amd mini HDMI. Jelly Bean 4.2. It's a decent little tablet.
The trouble is getting it rooted. Recovery mode is attainable and I've only been able to pick up the serial number via ADB when attempting to update from ADB in recovery. Any other time, I get nothing. Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

How were you able to get feedback in recovery mode? I can't get ADB to see the device at all. I tried using the Nexu 7 ADB drivers as well as a raw set. I can only get Windows to see it, however that's an easy thing when forcing a driver.
I also tried fastboot - Windows sees it as the Nvidia tegra 3 Fastboot connection, so I'm starting to think we need the real driver from Hisense unless we can find a generic alternative.
Device Manager shows (! - M470BSA) and again under portable devices correctly as a media device.
The Vendor ID is 109B which comes back to Gemlight Computers Ltd which mfg USB for OEMs.
edit - Hisense does not have anything for this tablet on either their international site or their US site aside from a press kit.

I believe you're right about needing the ADB drivers from Hisense, hopefully over the next few days, it will materialize on their site. I guess they felt we needed to download their presskit instead of drivers or firmware.
Anyway, maybe it's worth trying Koush's Universal ADB drivers? Possibly one in the list will work with this.

Hello, I got a new dell venue 7 tablet about 3 days ago. It worked fine for the first day .... the wifi started having issues on the second day. Its 4.4.4 kitkat ..
The wifi says its connected but I can't do anything as in browse the web or the YouTube. I guess its called a wifi freeze? I called dell and after hour of being on the phone with them, they recommended I do a system reformat which I did with no success. I'm not interested in rooting because that would void the warranty. Anyone with the same issue or any fix? Share your knowledge thanks.
(And if nothing works, what's the return policy with dell? I bought it directly from them. I want to know who will pay the return shipping)
This is surprising ... this place (forum) is dead ...

It may be that there aren't many of these in the wild, yet. Many resellers (like Amazon) still have the 2013 models only. People may be waiting for better discounts to appear before purchasing.

The only question is why haven't you returned the tablet? Your post makes no sense you got one good days use of the tablet, now you need help to fix it.
Most people would have simply returned the tablet, and already by now had a new working tablet, but not you.
