Hi guys,
I´m in Hong Kong and just got my Dopod U1000, since my last PDA was the Hermes and Universal (both with WM6), I would like to know if there is any leaked rom available ? If not I will ask to my friends at HTC and MS
Another point is, The only way to make calls is using a headset? Seriously this was unexpected to me... I will receive a bluetooth headset from Plantronics for free (local promo), but just in case, There is any other way to use the phone? (without the speakerphone)?
tks!
Phelipe
i am waitting too..........
Yes this also puzzled me. How is it possible that the speakerphone cannot be de-activated? Sometimes when I forget to bring my bt headset the phone rings, I answer the call and everyone of my collegues listen to my phone conversation, due to speakerphone active!
Thanks and waiting

hardware
I think that the Ameo hasn't got the hardware to be used as a "normal" phone (e.g the small ear-speakers used by a "normal" phone).
That's quite shocking. I never knew the Athena could not be answered as a normal mobile phone.

if you don't know this, then you haven't done enough research
to be fair i have not seen any video or other reviews where they go over the fact that you can talk on it like a normal phone. back to the question at hand, what i do is turn down the volume all the way and then talk on it like a normal phone people can still here just not as will and not as far away but i still use a bluetooth
FYI - the volume settings are different when your on or off the phone so if you turn down the volume when your on the phone talking, it will still be loud when you get off the phone.
u can make/answer the call without earphone.
the internal speaker will be on in this case. it means people around u also can hear your call.
i had once, it's a quite embarrassing when people are watching u while u r talking to a brick. :-D
^true....its really embarrassing...
It happened to me once in an elevator...
Always keep your BT headset with your Athena...

hahahahaha LOL...tat sucked
(my english is bad... so "hahahaha LOL" is enough to convey my reply to you)
I just bought my wife a used Eris and it turns out that it has the silent bug. It is a non-rooted phone running 2.1. What would you try to fix it?
1) update the radio (if so, to what)?
2) update the ROM (if so, to what)?
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Whenever I had the silent bug, I would fix it by slamming my phone against the palm of my hand, it really works. At least for me.
Thanks. Any other ideas out there?
Anyone? Any information is appreciated.
depends on if its hardware or software... software just a reboot or supposedly upgrade will help but if your already running the july ota 2.1....
Eris has a usb-trackball-mic combo port that has a notorious 'bad ground' (other physical trackball-equipped htc devices with similar designed usb-mic ports have the same issue as well) i cant even use the mic or trackball down and left without having the usb plugged in and slightly pulled forward, and barely then will the mic work. also have an issue where incoming bluetooth calls(only way i can use my phone as a phone aside from a wired headset) are rerouted back to my phone immediately upon answer have this problem with numerous roms and headsets
symptoms of this 'bad ground' problem and eventual complete mic failure etc are:
do u have phantom cursor movement whenever you plug in your usb cable into your device? ie. green selector jumping or tracking around the screen even when your device is not handled in any way...(makes it impossible to use the device while its doing this as well as it selects what it wants..lol)
callers asking hello hello hello? then hanging up even when your trying your best to wiggle the usb port or smack your phones microphone on your palm....
attempting to repair this problem (as im on cricket and obviously have no verizon 'warranty' anyways) i followed a write up on here about how to change your trackball and replaced with a new one as well as tried to clean dirty trackball contacts.. my microphone worked ok for like 3 days then went back to broken had no effect on trackball
on the other hand when i have had the silent call bug back when the mic worked, i usually couldnt hear the other person and they could not hear me and usually a restart worked..
hope some of this jibberish helps...
I contacted HTC support about the silent bug and this is what I got in response...
"Thank you for contacting HTC Technical Support. I’ve had to do a bit of research concerning the “silent bug”. Based on what I’ve read, do you mean that the audio goes silent on some calls, where you can’t hear the other party and they can’t hear you? Is rebooting your phone the only way to recover from it?
I can definitely understand your frustration if this is going on. I mean, you basically can’t use your phone sometimes. The latest update for the Eris addresses this issue. Please go to MENU > SETTINGS > ABOUT PHONE > SOFTWARE, and check the software number. The new software is number 2.37.605.4"
Her software number was lower than that, so I rooted her phone and installed xtrsense 4.6.5. She had one issue this morning but she isn't sure if that was because her volume was all the way down or if it was really the problem.
I also downloaded the Sprint radio update ending in 27, because her radio version is stale as well. I found that in the hidden menus using ##778. I am a little bit reluctant to flash that as I can't verify the CD5 #.
I haven't noticed the jumping around cursor and her trackball works OK. So I guess we are in wait and see mode now while I try to figure out what the next fix would be.
Thanks for the responses so far.
Yep

My eris just got hit with both the trackball and the mic problem the other day. At first a swift hit on my palm fixed it for a day. And now the mic doesn't work at all unless my charger is plugged in and pulled toward me as well.
I haven't found any easy, or viable option of replacing the entire charge-trackball-mic block.
Hi,
I really hope i dont have a faulty device, but the sound through my headphones (which have been working a day before on my beloved htc hero perfectly) is rather week, 75% maybe of the top volume i could reach on my hero.
I've already tried this in the default music app, and also on Jango Radio (internet music app).
the sound is rather week and also kind of not crystal clear.
is anybody else having this problem? and what can i do about it?
thanks alo!
Yes, actually I have the same thing, and I think a software problem with the music player, it stops when I raise the volume or when i press on the 5.1 ch icon or sometimes on it's own

Working fine!!
I've been using other earphones, but when i tried the one coming with the phone......blast!!!! that's y it was giving me problems!
Super dooper!!
sorry SGS II i underestimated u!!
Definitely the best phone ever up till now
I also noticed really bad quality with the stock headset.. After trying with the headphones from an iPod, the sound quality was much better.. So i guess the problem is really the stock headset.
The stock headphones are pretty bad. I don't get low volume. In fact, I get large amounts of distortion on higher volumes when using headphones. The sound quality is poor, but after tweaking with an EQ (PowerAMP!) it can be some-what salvaged.
There are also options in music player itself (equaliser and effects). For me it is sufficient to improve quality to desired level.
Is audio level & quality same as galaxy S
I am confused between Galaxy sII & xperia neo. I am shifting from Galaxy S, I got the phone refunded from samsung before this I have a wave, that also was refunded by samsung. Its obvious that I am a bit afraid going for samsung this time but still feel they are the best. I got this info from research that Galaxy SII doesn't have a good audio quality in comparison with the legendry Galaxy S. I can't afford to take risk for a 30K phone if it doesn't play good music because carrying an Ipod is virtually impossible if u already have S II in ur pocket. Thats the reason I have narrowed down to galaxy S II or Xperia Neo. But I need to confirm if its not even to galaxy s level in terms of audio quality and volume levels, plz help me folks, I am waiting for some helping replies and plz don't blind fold urself being loyal to ur device becoz my respect for Samsung is immortal, its just that I can't spend 30K blindly. I will have to consider the music segment.

Just do a fine tuning on your volume settings with the 'Samsung Secret Codes'
See this thread for guidance: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069015
Although for hearing music I had no problems, it was necessary for me to boost the headset volume for voice calls.
oh common, stop with this volume settings with Samsung secret codes, that has been posted by many here that this thing doesn't work. The numbers are re setting themselves back to original. The overall volume is just too low on this phone. I hope the 2.3.4. will adjust it higher.
Highly recommended:
To get clear sound from your Galaxy S II, simply install the free version of the brilliant "Equalizer"-app from Market. It has a five-band equalizer. From there you can increase the levels of the desired frequencies, treble, bass, midrange etc. The Galaxy S II has far to low default treble. This app takes care of that No root, no hassle.
There is also a paid version, but it is just needed if you want more than one custom preset.
But What about the levels of volume? Is it at par with the old Galaxy S?

Well, I'm sorry for your insoluble problem, but I effectively fixed my volume problem in a permanent way (with various reboots with unchanged config after tweaking) using these codes.
I do apologise for my useless advice. I was only trying to help.
I hope you find a solution for your problems soon.

Actually, I've solved my volume problems following the guide of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741012 . and not the other one that I mentioned above. Unfortunately, it seems that it applies only for voice and video call volume, not for the media player. That said, I have to say that my music player is very loud, either using the headset or the speaker. I'm using the KE7 stock ROM.
Best of luck for you all guys.
the link you provide is for the old Galaxy S1, and even there guys complain about low level of EAR SPEAKER, and that the tweaked numbers reverse back to original after phone restart or re boot. So my question is: how did you make the new numbers to stay on your phone? I am using same KE7 and stock firmware as well. I can't raise the volume by these codes at all, doesnt stay not even 2 phone calls. Can you reveal the magic how did you do it? ( no offense to you at all, I am just helpless because I can't barely hear people calling me, driving in my car - Mercedes btw...)
Thank you for your help
Most stores (in Sweden anyway) have the phone so you can try it yourself, just go to a shop where either a manager carries it or the store has a demo of it and bring your headphones! You can't go wrong with that!
I have a really nice piece of Denon's (AH-D1001) and even though the phone can't power as well as the older galaxy s, I get a really natural good sound with mine and it's just loud enough. No EQ needed.

Yes, the original thread was for the ancient SGS1, nevertheless, the command still works for the SGS2 (at least for my device). Before I did the 'fine tuning' on my volume settings (following the SGS1 guide on the mentioned thread), I could barely hear the other person's voice in a phone call while using the headset. Now I adjust the volume around 70-75% for making phone calls using the headset, which is more than enough for me. I didn't do anything different than the guide says, and I have no idea why it doesn't work for your device.
Hey xda family,
Recently we have a cm9 rom in our development. But having problems with the phone volume not working properly. I understand we don't have a kernel yet for ics 4.0.4 as its not released yet,so this may be the factor. I've tried everything for volume increase but doesn't help the in call volume. Plus speaker phone during calls seems to to be directed to the ear piece rather then the rear speaker. Does anyone have any input on a fix? Or know how to redirect the path for volume for speaker phone? I have search all over and need some help from some one that understand development better then I ....thank you
usb on the
usb on the go not working in galexy note n-7000... Sorry for my bed english....
As my signature shows, I have a north American S3 running Stock ICS Rom/Kernel and am now running a OTG USB cable out of my S3 and into a DAC (UCA222). (DAC Headphones out or line outs to my stereo.
It works.
I get the occasional Skipping thing happening which I assume is a digital handshake burp of sorts.
THE BIGGER PROBLEM...
If while listening to music (powerAmp or YouTube or Songza etc.) I get a phone call, the audio goes nuts!!! It does the skipping thing but does not cease unless I end the call. Same with outgoing calls.
So "is there anybody out there" with a similar setup who can share with me:
- a fix or workaround
- an alternative
- or just tell me you have the same issue so that I know it's not just my gear.
Reason for wanting this new arrangement, is to use it with my new CraigsDock for the car and not having to manually plugin any cords. Also, Analogue out of the USB jack, when tested in the past, introduces machine noise and distortion WHILE CHARGING. (not just a simple ground loop issue)
Thanks in Advance
If you have a "north American" i9300, then the chances are it isn't a i9300 and you are in the wrong forum and risk bricking your phone if you flash anything here
Actually yes your right, wrong forum. If moderators wish to move it, please do so. I still wouldn't mind hearing from I9300 users but I'm not interested in rom flashing. Wouldn't mind just getting some general feedback on DAC alternatives etc. if anyone has a working happy setup.
