Why did you use a different EFS backup? The EFS folder contains the IMEI number specific to a certain device... You should've just let the phone to let dry overnight...

I actually got the EFS Backup from my I9300 and i push it to the phone, but still have the same, i got a ultrasonic cleaner for Pc's stuff and i clean, and the phone boot up again, it was dry already, but the base, imei etc.. doesn't work, and i just try to put the EFS Folder back, because it was empty, to see if the phone get the baseband and Imei back.

Afaik the nv_data.bin is encrypted with a device-specific key (cpuid?) so injection will fail. Note that it's also highly illegal, may cause you to get blacklisted by your provider and is a forbidden topic on xda.
one quick note though: If you are able to boot in recovery, read the nv_data log in /efs as it explains what exactly happened.

[Help] Stuck Boot Logo

Hello, I got an SGS3 i9300 with stock rom now, and it is stuck at boot logo of Siyah Kernel, When i enter into Recovery mode, i try to mount EFS and get this error "Error Mounting /efs!" is there a way to make it work? Because i try many roms, i follow a guide to install a Stock ROM that i have now the latest for my country (Spain) without luck, is there a solution? Thank you.
Hi there,
just a stock firmware via ODIN.
you can find download here:
http://samsung-updates.com
I already install a Stock rom, i got a EFS Backup, but i can't put it, because i can't go into the phone it don't boot, it stop at Siyah Kernel boot logo.. And i can't mount EFS folder cuz of that..
Try a factory reset/data wipe from the recovery.

I don't get it. Maybe this is a new system or something, but on i9100 we can at least boot into the system and all. Its just that we get no signals, but everything else works fine? Why isn't your phone booting into the OS?

the EFS Folder, i get into it via Root Explorer, and the folder is empty, the phone stuck at boot logo, when i get into recovery mode appear an error that says "Error to mount /efs" i got a EFS Backup and i push it via ADB whole folder, now i got an error on recovery "E:error to mount /efs (The file is too large) and i can't even delete now with EFS Pro, the program shutdown, i got the riff box, im new with it, is quite easy to use it with "Jtag adapters" but with the small chip that came with it, im completly new, to solder the right cables to the motherboard, i know if i can do that, i can resurrect the phone, and repair the IMEI directly, im trying to get info about to know how to solder the cables.. that's why i was looking to another options to make it boot again..:crying:

Samsung i9300 stuck on boot logo due to empty efs folder

History:
Well not really sure about what happen to the phone but when it was handed to me it was already stuck on boot logo.
I can go into recovery mode but it always say E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument) which I reckon would be an empty efs folder since I handled some problem too before with same problem and they all got no files on efs folder.
Well what I already did was flashed it with 4 part files via Odin3 v3.07 from the rescue firmwares from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6
Used XELLA and XXEMC2 with pit and it flashed all right but still stuck on boot logo
Question is, is the empty EFS causing the stuck on boot logo or some other issues like NAND corrupted/damaged already?
Or can I rebuild the EFS folder from other i9300 working EFS in the stuck on boot logo state?
Thanks in advance for the input..

Yeah seems like your /efs is wiped. Check out the discussion in the thread here.
@Glebun
Well I don't have the EFS backup as clearly stated on my first post and while replacing the motherboard is the quickest "fixed" possible, If I got lucky and I have one? But I am just wondering out of the blue if there's another workaround, I've went through a lot of threads here with same problem but unfortunately no concrete solution than send it in for replacement, anyway just trying out my luck on this thread.
Update:
Well there's a miracle happened,
I flashed it again with the XXEMC2 without the pit and now it went past to the boot logo but it just keeps on restarting now on the Samsung animation welcome screen (say a boot loop?)...
@dhirend_6d
I'll check on that mate thanks..

Efs restore help needed urgent

my main problem is my EFS is totally corrupted. i have yellow writing on my ROM which i have read is permanent safe mode and that i need to restore my efs. Sadly i dont think i salvaged enough, i made a EFS backup yesterday (sort of) before i started fiddling around to try and unlock my phone. i have the .img file and .tar file on my PC but i have read you need a gz file?
When making the backup i was on custom 4.3 ROM and im now on stock 4.3 rooted.
UPDATED
i have attempted to restore my efs using a the utility here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/tool-backup-restore-efs-imei-sgsiii-t1901098
however i get this pop up and when i reboot its just stuck on the blue Samsung logo and wont boot into the rom
http://gyazo.com/e0f93bc00b9355d7e58712f5bd162e53
History of my actions
1) had working rom perfect - made efs backup using galaxasim unlock
2) IMEI corrupt from an update
3) did super wipe on phone and installed stock rom using ODIN, after update phone just got stuck on samsung logo
4) flashed this file which got my rom working again but of course i had a corrupt IMEI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJMJLdzHaAY
5) restored EFS and now phone wont get past samsung logo again (tried clearing cache and wipe data, I also get this error when doing a full wipe from phil CWM [formatting /sd-ext unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
any help?

Samsung S III Imei corrupted

I've searched on google for solutions as I found the efs file which got corrupted. I've used this thread here trying to solve the issue. This is the thread I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914 still the imei has not changed. It keeps on showing this IMEI-00499901064**** IMEI SV0*. Is these the what is causing the network not to respond. I have even used google to find solutions but still the imei is not changing. I even installed the modem mg4.tar file through odin and still network won't pickup. I even flashed back to 4.1.2 stock firmware and it didn't fix Imei. The imei was deleted before since it used to restart at the samsung logo then used adb commands to get the efs file remade or so. Now if the network is not picking up is it because of the imei. This is referring to gt-I9300......How can the imei be restored?
had a similar issue yesturday, luckily i took a backup of my efs folder before i started messing around with ROMs
if you dont have a backup its goodnight vienna, you will need to get it serviced

I got the efs files restored but the imei is corrupted. It just keeps on showing IMEI-00499901064**** IMEI SV0* how do I fix the imei, I even used google to search for solutions on how to repair corrupted imei but still the imei is not changing. Is there someone here who knows how to fix corrupted imei which is IMEI-00499901064**** IMEI SV0*. I coul'd send the efs folder and you can see how to solve it and then sent it back to me. If the imei woul'd return to the way it's suppose to be showing.I used this to restore my efs when it was saying it coul'd not mount it.
Restored efs using this guide below which I found on google after searching:
How to fix EFS not mounting :
Download and flash official firmware for your phone
Flash CWM recovery and root your device using recovery method.
Install ADB on your computer.
Boot your device into recovery mode
Connect your device to PC via USB cable
In recovery mode Choose “mount and storage > mount /system”
Open ADB command window and type :
adb shell
su
mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3
reboot
The thing is the imei won't change how to fix this I have flashe stock roms from 4.0.4, 4.1.2 and 4.3 rom still the imei just doesn't change. How to solve this?

i9300 with 0049 IMEI

I had a i9300 that was stuck at boot with the "cannot mount efs partition" problem in the recovery.
Since i couldn't backup the efs folder for some reason i went ahead and formatted the efs folder. The phone now boots normally but i have an 0049 IMEI.
There are a lot of posts offering diferent solutions but since this a i9300 Exynos is there any way to write back the IMEI without using fancy box's, UARTS or dongles? Like manually writing the IMEI in the nv_data.bin
Regards.

I don't think that works since i formatted the efs and it's now the generic one.
I have no backup of the original and i have a exynos i9300
i searched the forums and it doesn't seem to be a solution since i cannot rewrite the original IMEI
