hey guys,
wanted to do a firmeware flash up to 4.1.2 with the following firmeware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199288&page=1
i used the open austria version... did it as usual, but at the very end odin didn't work anymore (unkown problem occured an odin was ended)... so i tried it again for 3 times, always the same... also tried odin with version 3.07, 3.04 and 1.85
now i wanted to install the backup from cwm, but the phone doesn't join the recovery mode due to the problem, that the flash didn't work
(phone suggests to use kies air recovery....)
is there anyone who can help he ? can i still try to flash it ? if so, what should i try ? thanks in advance
Can you go to download mode?
Cause then you can re-flash a firmware. Make sure all KIES tasks are Closed! (there usually are 2 Kies tasks open, disable in taskmanager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete))

Try another usb cable.
Sent from the little guy
@waren: well i'll try it now -> closed 3 kies air applications and retry to flash 4.1.2
@immortal: how can i be sure that the file is not broken or corrupted ? all responses here in the forum were positiv for this firmeware's...
@gastonw: took another cable this time...
i also thought about to flash back my old software, there i know that it works for sure... is this even possible ?
well, got the same error again
it always says: odin downloader doesn't work anymore (unknow / unsolved problem...) it's always just the at the moment before it's finished...
should i try to flash the kernel first ?
UPDATE; was able to reflash old firmeware... but i can't post in the development area here to ask for the problem...
is there a way to be sure that the file ist neither broken nor corrupted before doing a flash ?
Can you get the ROM to boot?
If yes, get mobile odin (root needed), it'll check tge file before flashing.
If not, try flashing in another PC/Laptop.
Of course, all kies applications killed before flashing.
Sent from the little guy
was able to re-flash old software and do some cwm-backup... so it's like before... thanks god :fingers-crossed:
today i'll try it again with mobile odin and hope that it will work this time

2 days ago I rooted the phone on stock ROM 2.3.3 & decided to install a custom ROM ( AndyX ROM ). While following the procedure, I couldn't copy the zip file for the ROM in the internal SD, would stuck copying at same percentage every time. Then, I compressed the file into a rar file, copied to the internal SD & used X-Plore file manager to extract the zip file into internal SD within the device. Then, I wiped data, cache partition, dalvik chache & battery stats Using CWM. After this, I tried flashing the zip but, it failed showing can't open & (bad) error. Later, I turned on the phone & samsung boot animation was repeating (BootLoop). Only the Download mode is working not Recovery. I searched the internet & found a solution, to flash stock ROM. Done the procedure mentioned here . After that, I can't get into recovery & shows "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I tried flashing the stock ROM in Odin (used pit, pda, modem & csc). Gets stuck in flashing factoryfs.img after like 5 to 10% (approx.) of completion. Tried it in many ways but, outcome is same. I was able to flash the bootloader & kernel but, not the Recovery Package(Which contains the factoryfs.img). What to do now ??? . I need help badly !!!
Just follow instructions. Flash stock firmware in Odin but make 100% sure that there are no Kies processes running in the task manager. Then DON'T use pit.. just get a firmware from intratech's thread and flash it. Then afterwards use ODIN to flash the cf-root kernel made for that specific firmware.

I have KIES uninstalled.. None of it's processes are running..
Can you give thw name/version & link to the firmware ?
Could it be because of a bad USB cable(/non-original) or, bad USB port in the PC ???. Only 1 USB port works with the phone in download mode, rest doesn't recognize it !!!
Thanks..
Aren't the drivers you need included with the KIES download. Surely uninstalling would uninstall drivers, too?
I might be completely wrong but if this is the case then installing KIES again and just making sure it isn't running would sort it?

But, isn't getting any phone signal. Baseband shows "unknown" & NO IMEI is shown. I forgot the baseband version/number. After flashing the stock ROM, it showed something like, Can't mount efs & invalid directory while it was in android recovery, I guess. What to do now ???

No nv_data or any related file..
What do I do now ???
Read the thread I posted a link to in my last post. Don't ask me the how/why of what to do so far as the process it outlines goes. I've never been in that situation, and even if I was, I make a backup of my EFS whenever I backup anything else (at least once a week).

Yeah, It Was A Bad USB Data Cable !. Thanks Anyway...
So my friend has been using this site for over a year rooting his HTC Desire and said I should look into rooting my S2, and because the S2 is quite a popular phone it should be an easy hack. So I obliged and downloaded Odin and used this file.\CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4\CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.tar.
I put my phone into download mode, followed every step perfectly and it said the download was a success/pass. Now when I try to boot my phone back up it goes to the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 screen, with a yellow triangle with an ! in the middle. And it wont boot anymore from there.
If this is an easy fix, or if there's an easy way to do this, I apoligize I'm a phone noob. Thanks for any help.

1. make sure you're in the right forum for your device, and used the right file. What is your model number? (printed on the label under the battery)
2. where did you get that file? (CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4)
3. did you make a note of what your original kernel version was before you began? (this may be too much to hope for)

Yikes. That thread says:
CF-Root Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
We do not have a CF-Root version of our kernel so just flash any kernel using the instructions provided in the link and flash the stock kernel back (found below). Root will remain as well as the CWM app but you will loose clockwork mod recovery.

Which is very VERY vague, and is probably why it screwed up. You can't just flash ANY kernel - it has to be one close to the one you already have. For example, if you had ICS on the phone, and flashed an older Gingerbread kernel (which the one you downloaded is version KG2, is an older Gingerbread kernel build), then the phone wouldn't boot.

If you didn't know what version you had, then there really isn't a way to recover without flashing a whole firmware.
Download an I9100M firmware from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100M and flash that to get back to ICS. Then go back to the CF-root thread, and make sure to read the instructions in post 1. Pay particular attention to the part that says "Help! Which file do I use ?"

Only if the phone shipped with the UGKG2 build (you have one too many "k"s in there) of Android. (which isn't guaranteed).
Ok so I have that file downloaded, and I downloaded the correct file from that site. Now I'm trying to install the firmware onto my phone, but its in MD5 format, and not .TAR. I tried googling how to fix this but couldnt find anything, how would I go about changing the file so that Odin can pick it up?

Odin should pick up an md5. Mine does. Put it in the PDA box and leave everything else alone.
Okay it's back to how it was before I tried to hack my phone. Thanks for the help!

Boot your phone to download mode. (volume down- home - power)
Download the latest Siyah Kernel (6.05b (the tar file)).
Start ODIN on your PC.
Press the PDA-button, and add the SiyahKernel file.
Connect your phone to a USB drive while it's on download mode.
Press "Start" on ODIN.
Now, if this doesn't work, download another version of ODIN. After trying all the versions, try all those versions again on a different USB port. If you STILL can't flash it, try another computer (and all the USB ports on that). If it still doesn't work, you probably have need for service.
I did this on my phone yesterday, and ODIN 1.85 worked on (only) one of my USB ports, so by all means, start with 1.85 first.

Siyah v6 is for JB mate. That's the reason things got messed up. For 4.0.4, you should have used Siyah v5.0.1.

Since u can flash successfully with Odin, simply flash the stock firmware for ur device and it should boot up without issues. I suggest u flash either 4.0.3 or 4.1.2.

Like I already mentioned, Siyah v6 is for stock JB. The OP has 4.0.4, so flashing the latest Siyah v6 will still result in bootloop.
And the other steps you mentioned are for when Odin flash fails. I don't think the OP has mentioned Odin flash failing yet. He has only told of being stuck in a bootloop.

Broher this guide only for soft brick phones not for NAND rw corrupted phones
And the only way to 'fix' a stuffed NAND ? Replace it/the motherboard. You won't find any miraculous fix for this here or anywhere else.
Seems that every single soft brick means corrupted nand lately.
It's massive hysteria, install kies and try pc/laptops/cables/usb ports.
Repeat until june.

Exactly. Either they're not trying all the things they've been told to try (highly likely)/not doing something really obvious or small, or the phone is cactus (less likely).

Hi
A friends S2 suddenly stopped working. someone tried to flash something (i dont know what he did exactly)
....
when i got it, i just could enter downloadmode. also: when pluging in a usb cable it says, that a problem while flashing was encountered, and i should enter recoverymode in kies and try again.
What i tried:
- installed kies and tried a fresh stock flash. => failed. it stuck at 2% and failed after....HOURS...when phone ran out of batt
- tried with Odin (v3.07, 1.85 or 83? or both...dunno): tried with different roms, one-package, 3-part-package, with pit, without pit (repartition) => everything failed.
- also cant access via QtADB (tried it just for fun-.-)
is there something left i can try? its a I9100 (NO G version) and flawlessly enters downloadmode....im running out of ideas, but i think this poor phone is done...
...still...any ideas?
wishing you a nice day

My thread in my signature? And you tried everything? And then tried everything all over again, on a new PC? I'm sorry but I highly doubt it. There is no easy fix, or magic trick to make it work. It requires perseverance.
Have you tried to flash siyah kernel then boot to recovery cwm? Then install a custom rom?
Hi
Im now trying since sunday....
Tried different roms, kernels, pcs, odin versions, ....always the same....
It fails when it starts to write on nand....

NAND stuffed; service centre (motherboard replacement), or you can keep trying (have you tried a 3 part firmware ?).
i also tried a 3 part firmware. same problem/fail.
Hi everyone !
If you use OMNIROM on your i9100 and you used to update your phone daily, you might be stuck at samsung boot logo since the February 12th nightly update.
Symptoms are a samsung logo bootloop and impossibility to access the recovery. Good point is that the download mode is functional.
To get back your i9100 to life, without flashing a complete Samsung Stock ROM, a solution is to flash a custom kitkat kernel compatible with Odin.
I converted the Gustavo_s kernel ([KERNEL][09/02]Kernel for CM10.2/CM11/Omni 4.4/Slimkat with stweaks support to a .tar file Odin flashable. I hope Gustavo_s will let me share this, I clearly don't want to assign me the merits of his kernel.
This worked for 2 Galaxy S II using OMNIROM and stucked since the update.
You can find the file down bellow. I hope this can be helpfull for people.
1) download the kk-kernel-09-02-TWRP.tar file
2) open Odin
3) click on PDA and select the kk-kernel-09-02-TWRP.tar file
4) put your i9100 in Download Mode (Vol_down + HOME + POWER when it is shut down)
5) connect your phone, and flash it in Odin
:fingers-crossed:

if you have problems with failed odin flash, you can also try by using Samsung USB driver for mobile phone version 1.5.27.0 : this seems the last driver working for me, newer versions give me problems
Anyone could tell me how long takes to install the Kernel?
I guess Im stuck for around 10mins+ in the installation without error with Odin v1.87
I tried with Odin 3.09 with 1.5.33 and got error, the same error printed here in the topic.
Now, Im trying with Odin 1.87 and 1.5.27 and I think its stuck.
ANyone could help me out?
Thanks in adv,
