If you are on honeycomb you are free to flash recovery via Rom manager.
If you are on gb I am working on a compatible recovery right now. Once I get it done you will be able to use the features in Rom manager but not flash recovery via Rom manager
confirmed working with Honeycomb htcdev unlocked hboot 1.14.

any hope on porting a touch based recovery? I think all tabs should have a touch based recovery since the lack of HW buttons
Guessing this still does not allow to use the internal memory for anything?

That is next on my list. I'm hoping to get with doomlord for the touchscreen stuff as the flyer/evo view uses nonstandard calls.

I removed the update zip. It doesn't actually replace recovery. Only soft boots it. Use img file via fastboot

is there anything special we gotta do if we already have the older version? Or can we just use the fastboot command and boom?

Updated OP
I just rooted my view last night.. I flashed recovery once, enough to put the SU file on SD card to root. But since then, I've tried to do a backup (through ROM manager) and the white HTC screen pops up and doesn't go away. So then I tried to do it manually through hboot and when I choose recovery it does the same thing .. what do you think might be the problem? I'm very new to this so I'm hoping it is something simple that I missed... Please help
Can I use it? I used 4EXT recovery and I wanna see Roms that are on Rom manager but it says I need to install clockwork, do I download? Will it mess up

Did you seriously make 4 different threads?
Been doing that for every question all day, you need to post all your questions in one thread and for every new question post it right in the old thread.
Yes, you can use Rom manager. I use it and I use clockwork recovery. I personally don't care for the other recoveries.

Here's a little tip about rom manager and flashing a recovery through it that many fail to realize until it's too late, lucky for me I got a heads up a while back when I was on the T989, once you flash a recovery via rom manager, you can only boot into that recovery using rom manager, therefore your phone has to boot to be able to use recovery, now, let's say you end up in a bootloop, how are YOU gonna get into recovery to fix your phone? Think about that, we don't have a CWM recovery.img at the moment for you to flash manually if you prefer CWM, but by all means, do as you please, we all have personal preferences and for someone that isn't s-off and isn't too comfortable with the ways of adb, etc as yet, I'd advise the simplest things for now.
Before 4ext was posted and I was on my g2 I used cwm(like everyone else). you were able to boot into recovery same as 4ext. Some had issues but I never did. Is something on this device preventing it from functioning like it did in g2?

Actually for me, once I flash cwm from rom manager, it stayed on my phone. Happened with my nexus 1,s, galaxy s2, and now this phone,..so I guess for some it sticks and others or may not. I say just try it and change if you want to

Not sure what you are talking about. I can get into recovery without going through Rom manager. Through Rom manager was how I got clockwork. I my phone doesn't need to boot to get into recoveryive used it on 4 phones with no problems..

Ways to get confirmed:
1. Use root checker from market.
2. Install terminal Emulator and run command su
$ su

If SuperUser popup comes out.. you are done rooting..
3. To get rooted.. Universal Androot for 2.1 - 2.3 devices.
Sorry I dont have the above mentioned files but you can have those with a little Googling.
Also you haven't mentioned your device, on which you are performing XperiMents

I guess, If its Photon4g, then go for Photon Torpedo method, and confirm the root with above.
Thanks for the reply. Every time I use root checker I just runs forever and never stops checking. But I used the cmd prompt su and and the cmd line changes from a $ to a # so that means I am rooted. yeah. don't ever ever ever use rom manager. it's junk and doesn't work. do not use it or its recoveries. use jokers v3 or photon3 or another confirmed working recovery. NEVER USE ROM MANAGER.

Don't call an app junk just because it does not fully work on a particular phone. It actually does work for most things.
The recoveries that u mentioned are just modified versions of the recovery built into Rom Manager.
But of course u knew that!
Try the photon torpedo direct method it will tell you if your rooted and also can apply a proper root if your root install went bad.

only for new ROMs with selinux, so not for the Note 2 I think as you still have old TW non selinux ones
Ohhh I thought this would help a KitKat ROM like cm11 survive a restore lol oh well. My next question is could having selinux enabled hamper me on a backup and restore? Because its already done lol

I think kitkat cm11 roms use permissive selinux permissions, so not affected. Stock CWM doesn't support selinux. However, maybe on some apps it could help
In any case, for cm-10.2 and 11, it is a good idea to have it enabled

You installed CWM for a different variant most likely. Make sure you have the one for i605 or just get it off their website.
