CWM not going into recovery - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I bought this a while ago, so I flashed the latest recovery for the Note 2 on CWM, but when I go into recovery, it still goes into the stock recovery. Not sure why. Phone is rooted but the bootloader is not unlocked. Any help would be appreciated, as I've tried just about everything.

You have to be unlocked to install any custom recovery. Please read.
You are lucky you didn't brick.

A little help

Not thinking I flashed twrp recovery before unlocking bootloader and now have the "system software not authorized" warning.
I am downloading the stock image, do I just flash that with odin?
I have been a Motorola guy for years.
Thanks

No, you do not have to go back to stock. Just boot into your custom recovery, wipe data/cache, & install your new rom of choice.

This should go in the Question section.
But to answer your question, no you do not have to go back to stock. You do however need to do the wipes recommended (wipe data/factory reset, cache/dalvik).
Chocula beat me to it
Just to save you the headache for the future. I would definitely recommend reading up more about this before actually doing anything.

[Q] SGS4 CM10 Flash Attempt Failing!

Okay, As the title says, I've got a Rooted SGS4, GT-I9505, Running on a TWRP Recovery, And im using the Nightlies from CM Site, Wont let me link due to new account, Now..
My Problem seems to be that when i go into recovery and do my Wipe/Factory Reset, It works fine, But then when i go to flash the zip file, It freaks out! it starts saying Cant mount /system,eft,preload and then obviously gives me a big red failed!.. Now i wipe again, Then restore.. And start again, Also Tried wiping everything but my system folder, etc etc, i've tried everything.. Now ive tried messing with going into the mount tab aswell and seeing if i can mount things myself, but that seems to do somthing else, because it didnt do what i'd expected.
SO.. Am i missing a step between wiping and flashing, Or and i Wiping the wrong things? OR do i need to mount system, efs, preload myself?
SGS4 GT-I9505, Vodafone, AU.
SOLVED-ISH! (Read post below!)
Thanks for the help guys, Sorry for not replying sooner D:
Are you downloading the one for your phone?

Bad download..... That is usually the problem. Check to see in a file explorer if the size of the file is adequate to the size of it on the get.cm site.

Thanks for that!, Sorry aswell :S
Big news!
Seems TWRP was the issue, It was utterly crapping itsself, It seems after i'd flashed Philz CWM recovery, Everything went pretty smooth.. Now my only problem is that this is my first custom rom, so now to see where i should start before i move to CM10 and stay there haha!
If anyone has any suggestions for a thread/post that would be great.. Only thing i know is step 1: Get a GApps.zip!

Note that your TWRP backups are not compatible with CWM so one thing to do is make a backup in CWM of a known good configuration.

Help: I want to know if I did the update or not.

Sorry if it's being asked a lot. I was flashing ROMs last night and I wasn't in the most stable of mind set. Anyway I wake up to a text from my buddy about this update. I remember doing a Samsung update but not an ota and it never went to download mode. How can I tell if I updated it?
I keep seeing VRUAME7 as the new update but this is my current about info and my build is obviously a different rom but my baseband isn't what I see as the before and after screenshot and I just checked my phone with a root checker and it passed. Sorry for being a noob but I came from a gnex! Can anyone give me an idea how to check if I did or if I'm fine?
Sorry I meant to post this in help / q&a not general sorry please move it!!

You're running a custom ROM (CleanROM), so you don't have the update. You do not want to flash the update since it kills root access and prevents the bootloader workaround. This is discussed in nearly every thread in the forum right now.

If you updated you wouldn't have a Root and I don't think you'd have a custom ROM.

The update fails if you have a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM), which is needed to flash roms. So as long as you have a custom recovery the update can't go through

Thank you. Thanks everyone. I was used to nexus prior to this so I wasn't sure. Thanks for all the answers. I have root, still on CleanRom, build/radio didn't change and can access recovery. Thanks again and sorry that this is in the wrong section.

No problem. I came from the Gnex too and there is definitely a little bit of a learning curve with the S4 modding scene compared to the Gnex. Questions are the only way we learn!

Yes. Especially since I don't fully understand this auto Loki (I understand it flashes a pre release kernel that is insecure hence how I rooted the phone via Odin and motochopper in the first pkace), that and with the boot loader still being locked or at least not unlocked and being bypassed I wasn't 100% positive. Now can I flash the new modem.bin from the update via Odin without messing anything up? From this thread:

Thank you everyone, and again if a mod see's this please move to q/a forum I didn't mean to post here!

[Q] [Help] S4 Bricked in a Unique Way

Hey guys,
Before anyone rushes into flaming, I just want to note that I've been a member here long enough to know how to search the threads before asking a question that has already been answered. This is the reason for the title. Anywho, here is my situation. I got my hands on a brand new S4, used it stock for a bit, then decided to root it (couldn't help myself.)
Post rooting, everything went great. The ROM (JellyBeans) was running smooth, life was peachy, until I decided to let my flashing addiction get the best of me and I decided to try a new ROM (no offense beanstown, just trying something new.) Anyways, I went into recovery, flashed the new ROM, of course wiping the device 4 times, as has become my habit. Went to turn it on, and the "Custom" screen pops up, then the phone just turns off.
I tried using Odin to return it to stock, but unless I'm using the wrong file, I'm getting the same result. Odin seemingly runs fine, but still no booting. Any ideas? The file I'm using with Odin is VRUAMDK_NoWipe. If there is a different one I should be using, please be kind enough to include a link for me. Thank you.
Just flash the full odin back to stock the version that is still rootable. That should do the trick some times not wiping is the issue.

I mentioned in my original post that I had attempted to use Odin to restore it back to stock. At this point, it doesn't really matter to me whether I can root or not, I'd just like it to turn back on. Shoot, I'd be happy with a boot loop right about now.

The no wipe mdk Odin file has caused issues with me. There is another Odin file floating around that should get you working again, although it causes full wipe.

The actual Odin file takes forever to download, I believe the extractable file is easier to download.
EDIT: yeah download the exe ,link

reflash your verizon kernel, it will boot, you really didn't need to do odin, guess that is every ones quick fix. and if you are doing odin, after it flashes get into recovery and do a factory reset.
