Hey guys, I know these threads aren't exactly welcome, but this was kind of weird.
I was carrying out my papers, listening to my Spotify playlist. After about three hours, I had 34% battery charge left. About ten minutes later, 11%. Then my phone died, because the charge was gone and it didn't get past the boot logo.
I arrived home about 10 to 15 minutes ago and tried to boot my phone, it booted and had 24% charge - how does that work?

Internal resistance of the battery increased due to high temperature, voltage dropped to shut off threshold. After the phone was allowed to cool the resistance dropped and voltage returned to the actual 24% level remaining.
It sounds like your battery could do with replacing.

Sounds reasonable, but I don't think so. I was doing my paper round at ~1 degrees C and my phone was in my front pocket of my jacket, so it was pretty cold. (Now thinking of that, maybe I should have written that in the OP, as well.)
But I think you're right with the battery exchange. Ever since I got my replacement S III I've been having better and yet again worse battery charge-durations. It lasted longer, but took from ~10PM charging through my XBox 'till 2PM when I go out and stuff...

My S3 (2nd phone) battery lasted ages when I first got it but now a few weeks later it seems the battery just doesn't last as long as it did when brand new. I'm simply going to replace the battery with a new 1 every 3 months
Small price to pay for 24hrs plus battery life with at least 6hrs intense screen on activities. Gaming & videos mainly at work

There are several possible causes to your issue
- When batteries are cold, their capacity drops so when you get home it warms up and has some charge left
- Your battery's electronics had an incorrect counter. Do a full load/unload cycle and it should calibrate correctly

I don't think it would be a faulty counter. The phone was so dead it didn't reach the boot logo.
I'd say option one is most likely.

Ok, here is my problem.
The battery indicator its stuck either at 100 % or 95%. I know my real batery life with a program (battery indicator pro).
It seems that the only way to charge it correctly is power it down and plug it to the charger (original by the way). If i charge it while is turned on, the indicator that signal the 100% charge never pops up.
I'm using the go launcher ex, its not rooted, and the stock rom (2.2.2 International).
PS:Yeah i know, my english is pretty bad, so please bear with me.
Mine gets stuck at 80%, both charging and discharging. After 3 or 4 hours at 80% it will go to 100% a few hours later. Hopefully they'll fix this on an update! The battery itself seems to be operating properly.
Well... I guess I take comfort in knowing that I am not the only one experiencing this odd bug. I have the exact behavior and like it's been said, my 5.0 player seems to have normal battery life. I just can't trust the charge indicator.
The method this device uses to estimate state of charge is VERY primitive.
It has a fixed table based purely on battery voltage - the problem is that battery voltage can vary quite a lot for a given state of charge depending on load.

I'm not sure why they didn't use the MAX17040 fuel gauge that is built into the MAX8998 PMIC...

mV readings are a poor estimate of state of charge, since they'll go up when on a charger, and down when under heavy load.
Our battery % indicator is derived directly from those mV readings. (Which is why our battery % estimate sucks.)
What IS odd is that you seem to have a case where the charger held flat at around 4060 mV for a while - which does correspond to an 80% reading. I think I've seen that once too, might be a kernel bug there, I need to look.
Showing 100% with the voltage dropping shouldn't have happened - I've never seen it myself.
I believe the "stuck" numbers are 80%, 100% and sometimes 65%. Happens every cycle for me, 80% being worst. But on a reboot, immediately drops 25-35% (depending how long it was stuck for). So if you reboot every hour, it will show good readings (but I reboot about once a month).
My tablets battery will say 100 then how down to 3% so ill turn it off then back on and it'll say like 35%. Then most recently its been stuck on 35-37% for some odd reason.
Did you guys try wiping the battery stats in CWM?
So I took out my sd card this morning and realized I had been using my replacement battery not the original one that came with the phone. (They are both the same official samsung battery, I just marked them so I know which is which) Later on this evening my phone was at about 45% and I decided to switch batteries because I had opened it back up to reinsert my sd card. I start the phone back up and my 2nd battery, which I always keep at 100% as a backup, was showing only 81%...
I thought this was odd since I put it on the charger for about a half hour every few days to make sure it's fully charged before I start the day just in case I need it. Anyway, I forgot about that quickly and set my phone down on my desk. About 5 minutes later I get a text message, unlock the phone, and low and behold the battery says 83% (and no it was not plugged in all day and had not been charging!) Has anybody ever seen a phone "charge" while it's not plugged in before? It went up to 93% and then finally started to die. Slowly increasing every ~10 minutes give or take. I even have the screenshots to prove it was "charging" while not plugged in.

The only time I've seen a battery increase it's charge is when the temperature of the battery changes rapidly.
And perhaps if a cell bridges over ..
But that's usually reserved for lead acid type batteries....not lithium ion cells..
You have taught me today ....as this is a first for me ....
And I wouldn't be surprised if the battery is starting to fail ...so watch it to prevent any possible device damage.....g
Um. No. What you're seeing here is recalibration as the phone adapts to the other battery.
So you changed batteries while plugged in ??
Ah yeh, that explains the battery charge increase, as the new battery takes over, and the cycle record was not reset because the phone still has power...

I've had that happen before, and I only use OEM batteries with my phones. Like somebody else said its just a software hiccup where it's recalibrating. I've had times where I've pulled a battery to flash something at like 50 percent battery, when I boot back up I have like 10 percent showing, and it will slowly increase back up to like 40 percent. Its happened a few times and there's nothing to worry about.

No the phone was not plugged in. And I've switched batteries before without this happening. I know its not a problem I've just never ever watched a phone "charge" itself

Sounds like a battery stats "hiccup" to me, when you rebooted after swapping the batteries it thought that the battery was the same, so it just kept polling like normal and reporting the "new" status. But i think that when a battery is inserted like that, I don't think that it can instantly report what the exact new voltage/Mah so it pretend charges like what you reported. AT least that's the most logical thing i can think of. My extended battery would "charge" like that sometimes if I battery pulled for some reason...

XDA is no longer worth my time.
my z5c came with regular 1.5a charger (which take to charge to 60% 60 minutes , and 75min to 80% 2.5hrs to 100%
i saw aukey QC 2.0 for about 14$
and charge to 60% is twice as fast(30mins) but to 100% is only 30min diffrent 120mins
is worth buying it?

It's worth every penny and a must without a replaceable battery. It's the only way I could get my phone to last throughout the workday was to quick charge at lunch.
I wonder what you work that you have time to drain your battery so fast
when I leave the house at 6am and come home at 5pm I have about 75 to 85% left. When I go to bed at 11pm I still have about 50%. (and no Stamina mode etc) Maybe I'm not that kind of power-user...
Anyways. I bought a quick charger (Anker Power Port+ 1 and Power Drive+ 1 for car) to be prepared for situations where I need power very quick.
To OP: Quick chargers are not meant for charging full capacity in high speed but for charging a certain amount very quick, but the end goes slower. So when you have about 10% left and you're for example about to go out at night, then you can quick charge it to let's say 40 or 50% in a short time. So your battery will last the night at best. That's the main purpose of quick chargers.
I have aukey qc 2.0. To be honest it doesn't charge as fast as qualcomm says. But still it charges about 55% in first 30min phone charge to is less than 5%. From 0% to 100% it takes about 105-110min
Qualcomm has done test in laboratory condition, I think it means no WiFi no data almost 0 apps etc.

Emails,texts, calls, and a lot of data input to spreadsheets. My phone is screen on pretty heavily from 8am until 4pm.
This was a good day here lol I average about 5 hours of screen on time and see that's about the same for everyone, except my 5 hours are 5 straight hours and really need to be 8 or 9.

I will provide you an informations that I had collected from science research and sources and give a summary of it.
There Is Med-kit stuff you must follow to avoid bad battery life because:
Unhealthy battery = - performance & - life usage
Healthy battery = + performance & + life usage
So, I will set up to you tips that's makes your Redmi Note 10 battery better.
I can be the science man and explain to you all the tips that I will mention it, but I won't just want to be easy on you and get you on the boat.
NOTE: This thread not tellings you how to optimize your rom for better SOT this about take care of your battery life.
As you know we have non-removable "Li-Po" 5000 mAh battery, We need to:
1- low voltages is recommended for a battery’s lifespan, According to british university research, charging up your phone in that 30% to 80% range keeps the voltage lower and prolongs the battery lifespan.
2- Never play Games or watching videos while charging is bad because they distort charging cycles.
3- Try to not use your device while charging, and if you can turn it off while charging till get charged enough.
4,1- Don't ever makes your device temperature get higher because it's will kill your battery in long term. there is many ways to get your device temperature higher, such as: play while charging, put device on charging in hot place under pillow or whatever and using wrong bad kernel -_-...etc
4,2- It's recommend to take off your device case while charging, that's help to decrease temperature degree.
5- This device is not flagship device or has an expensive CPU & GPU, so stop playing heavy game with 60 frame rate for an hours ! this bad habit and will kills your battery in long term. when you feels your device get hot stop what you doing till temperature get normal.
6- If you are traveling or storing your device charge it to 80% and leave it switched off but not for more than 5~6 months. and for your knowledge you can store your device for 10 years and your battery can works after because the lithium-ion batteries shalf life 10~12 years.
7- Charge your device from to 100% once a month (UPDATE: NO NEED TO CHARGE FROM 0% TO 100 MONTHLY SINCE WE GO LI-PO BATTERY THIS ACTION ONLY FOR Nickel Cadmium batteries).
Now, maybe you asking "Can I get step back to get my bad battery healthy again ?"
Answer : half yes ! You can't restore the water you droped on sand but you can save the rest that left

My mistake. When it comes to battery health they can be treated the same. They are like close brother/sister anyway.

I would like to disclose that this phone has managed to provide sustainable maximum power managed in case of thermal overload. I am using the Pixel Experience Plus ROM and there is no longer any problem with overheating under load. This was solved at one time by the ROM developer and his associates.
I just got the Realme GT 2 Pro after replacing my 3 year old Xiaomi one. I want to use this new phone for at least 5 years, and I've been learning ways to help the battery not die quickly. I've learned to charge the phone until 80% and I've been doing that for a week and a few days now. It does annoy me that the battery feels weak since I am missing 20% charge. I'm contemplating to just charge it normally, but on a 10W charger rather than the 65W charger it has. Should I continue charging it up to 80% or just use it normally?

I cannot see the point of this, and with all respect I doubt this phone would be worth using after 5 years. More likely will not get any security updates by then and I dont think it will have much custom support either. On the other hand the manufacturers just sh1thing out 100s of phones a year, god knows what phones we would have in 5 years time, but for example I wouldn't want to use an old Sami S8 or 9 as my daily phone.
It is a good device and I like its battery life. I use it as a secondary phone therefore I share the battery usage with my other phone. In my usage I get a day and a half or 2 days out and would still have around 30-35% left. That's when I normally charge my phones, never let it discharge totally. I have seen in some articles that some experts don't recommend charging it over 80% due to the quicker wear of the battery. Honestly I cannot back this up.
There are a few things however what I can.
Do not charge when the phone is in use, like you have a long gaming session and you charge at the same time. The heat is the biggest enemy of the battery and charging and intensively using the phone at the same time could cause quicker wear out.
The second thing I never do is plug it up to charge overnight. With the quick charge tech this device has, its not even needed because its charges up in around 30mins for me. As soon as charged I disconnect. I noticed on my older iPhone when I charged it overnight, it caused quicker wear.
The above is my experience had over the years using several smartphones, but I hope it helps. Or just good luck using your GT2 pro in 5 years time
