Hi
I want to try some custom rom. Without any bugs.
Dont care about the radio bug.
Or tv out bug.
Camera bug should not be present.
Currently I am using wanam latest jellybean rom. V6.2
I have tries omega roms also.
Tries cm9 too. I like cm9 rom but I was not able to get wifi working.
To get wifi working I had to install ics and then flash cm9.
I want to try something like cm10
Pure android feeling. Not the samsung stock rom. And battery friendly.
Cm10 bugs webpage is not opening. Showing error all the time.

AW: Help with custom rom amd cm10
All cm10 based Roms do inherit their bugs.
The more extra features the rom has, the more extra bugs you will probably have.
Same goes for TW.
Complexity is the developers enemy!

I thought about it at first, but no. OP does not want camera bugs to be present, so it's clear all aosp roms are out of the question. Now it's on him to try out various TW-based roms, with which we will not help.

Quite frankly, this type of post above and "first" posts are the bane of my existence. They are about as useless as all the other spam out there, so I usually delete them on sight.
***************
@OP, I suggest you go into the Dev section and read a little. Pick out a few ROMs that look interesting to you. Then read the last 10 pages or so of each. Narrow it down to 1 or 2 that you like and read the OPs. Find one that you want to go with, then sit down, get a cold drink and start reading.
Make a Nandroid before you flash anything so that your next thread isn't "Help!! I bricked my phone".

Wow. This post is silly.
Saying not to try custom roms, then posts a link to a post that says you must try custom roms. :/
Anyways, I'm using CM9 Nightlies, all going well.
I'm a newbie ROOTer and I suggest you try it out, the benefits wayy outway the risks and trying something new is always fun.

I've tried most of the aokp/cm9 roms now as well as some aosp and stock roms. I'm currently running omega 3.0 aokp and a secondary omega v13.....I've found theses to be the most reliable..smooth and bug free.besides what people will say are the "best" roms..,, you need to flash and try some out., as they all vary to peoples personal preference.just make sure to follow install guides to the tee...

Im brand new to this ROM flashing stuff but i have worked with computers for years so im comfortable flashing the phone etc.
My questions are how do you choose what ROM to flash and how do you know it will work?
My phone is running i9300BVALF4 stock ROM but all the custom ROMS's i can see are not a slightly earlier build than mine, will it still work ok?
You read the rom description and decide.
Your current firmware is not relevant .
I9300. Takes any I9300 rom .

Choose omega rom v13
It's a modded stock rom so all the features are working and there aren't many bugs
When you click on a thread it usually has a not working list and browsing through the last few pages gives one an idea of how the people are finding it

It was a close call, but he hasn't asked "what is the best Rom?" ....instead he sneakily asked "how do I chose the best Rom?"
This is a new development in assault tactics and the sniper committee is pondering the matter before taking to arms.
Itchy the trigger finger.

No, a firmware is just a stock Rom with stupid carrier apps and games baked in. Best thing is to root, do a nandroid backup of your stock firmware, then get happy flashing. Just read the threads and stick to Samsung based Roms until you are comfortable with what you are doing, it's a learning curve,, but a worthwhile one, another tip....explore the forum, look at the stickies, observe, listen and learn....and don't rush into anything....enjoy

I think you have to read the corresponding ROM threads deeply, then be confident to check some ROMs on your phone by yourself.
Every user has different needs. So the best for the one might not be the best for the other.
P.S.: And be careful with your question for the best ROM => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612881

You may want to read the Development Threads and see what other users have experienced.

Thanks for the reply! I've been going through it. I am new to rooting and would want a nice ROM to go hand in hand with my Note. There are so many different ROMS making it very confusing! Is there a consensus on what the 'best' ROM is? Or could you explain to me the benefits of the one you are using and where I can get it? Thanks alot again.
You can get carbon under the Original Development Thread. It has had the least amount of reboots for me but there are many fine 4.2.2 ROMs offered here.
Asking for the "best" can start a flaming thread, since its very much a personal choice.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Ure most likely to get reboots in all 4.2.2 roms n most likely camera issues...until they release an official stable 4.2.2 rom then that'll be the rom u are looking for..to get less reboots I turn profiles off in settings n disable hw hardware layout...try that with any rom see what happens...

Best advice........read read read
As suggested by others look at development. It depends what YOU want or are looking for. Many 4.2 have issues. Mainly reboots. Some flicker in screen.
What i do is find rom that looks interesting in features to me. Then i go to end of thread and read backwards. Lets me know the more recent issues and if there are fixes or tweaks to compensate.
Lots of bells and whistles in 4.2 but sometimes we sacrifice stability.
Your choice........good luck and go slow.

In my own experience the most stable i717 4.2.2 rom is sons of android build 4, all other 4.2.2 roms I've tried where Awful for hot reboots and screen flickering. As always, make sure you do a full wipe before installing anything, happy flashing!

CyanogenMod 10.1.2 has been the smoothest ROM for me, with the best battery life. I use SD-Booster, Autokiller, and Greenify (apps) as well, which give me super speed, super smoothness, and eternal battery life.
Since this change, not a single reboot, screen flicker, or other Android 4.2 issue.

You've been around long enough to know comparing the efforts of developers isn't good form on these boards. We're lucky that we have several devs working on projects that have come a long way. Unfortunately, all of the current JB and KK ROMs have some type of issue, mostly involving Bluetooth and portable hotspot tethering. At the moment I'd say the PACman ROM is closest to being ready. Followed closely by evervolv. I haven't tried MIUI yet, but the reactions in that thread have been very positive. Of course you could also try one of the CM ROMs which many have been using as daily drivers for awhile. Read the threads, see which ones have issues that would negatively affect you the most, then try the one that suits your needs the best.
Well yes I know what you're on about, I know about the developers putting in enormous amounts of efforts in the roms but the point was to highlight ics roms or those based on it seem to be bug free, I could use something like that myself to come up with a rom myself

Your first post asked about JB, this one about ICS. Two different animals. On ICS we have many great fully functioning stable ROMs it boils down to the level of bloat you want removed for you, the theming, and the amount of tweaking and optimization. The leanest one that still maintains a fully functional sense is the one I'm using the Energy ROM, however, it's dated and the dev indicated last week that he'd be updating soon. SuperAfnan has a couple of outstanding ROMs both themed and stock. The ARHD ROM was updated yesterday and is totally stock with tweaks, it's probably the closest to the stock factory ROM. Then if you can live with a few minor bugs involving Bluetooth and tethering, the Viper Amaze is one of the most heavily tweaked, optimized, and full featured ROMs for our device, and it's sense 4 not 3.6 like the rest. I hope this helps.
Yes I'm on the energy one too tried nearly all of them but came back to this one. Somehow the amaze doesn't feel that smooth with either of the jellybean roms, which would you suggest for 4.1.2?

ROM comparison threads are not allowed. You need to test them out and find one that works for you by yourself. Please read the threads instead of asking because ROMS are subjective.
Please do not take developer work for granted.
As @Odysseus1962 stated there's so l many to choose from and he has already provided you with information so please just read the ROM threads. I'll give you a hint, there's a "broken" / "not working" section on the ROM threads so you can find bugs accordingly. Ones without it are usually more-or-less problem free.

Why does it always take until the 2nd or 3rd response before they finally understand this?
