[Q] TB after OTA - Motorola Droid RAZR

Anyone else having issues with Titanium Backup after the JB update? I used the Droid Razr Utility to flash the ota update, ran razr blade for root and installed safestrap 3. After installing TB I tried to do a backup and it just sits at 0% complete any thoughts??
THANKS!

i think you need to restore the app manually, like installing an apk file, so dont leave the TB app when restoring, if you want an auto restore, you can buy the pro version

Cognition X2 + APKs

So I just installed Cognition X2 that comes with the Program Monitor apk uninstalled. I got the apk for it, but AppInstaller is not installing in on my phone.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I get it installed?
If you have Titanium and did a back up before you flashed the new ROM, you might be able to restore it through Titanium, it has worked for me with apps on my tablet.

I tried doing that but titanium kept on being stuck at restoring over and over.
I believe titanium only backup settings not the .apks itself?
I'm quite fond of the samsung accuweather & programing monitor widget also.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I saw that yesterday, but root explorer is a $$$ app. I was hoping for a free solution. Would Droid Explorer work??
any sort of explorer, that allows you to set permissions should do the trick
Got Root Explorer, it worked!

manually push it to /system/app with adb or put it on the sdcard and copy it over with a file manager.
edit:
nvm, i see you did that already

I see you went ahead and purchased root explorer. I've had root explorer since I first got my captivate, and it's an awsome and useful app. But for anyone who wants a free root file manager, there is one included in the free version of Super Manager by Gpc, which you can download in the market.

I have a GSM Razr and for some reason whenever I open webpages that requires Flash player, it says that my device does not support flash player. Checked my settings and my plug-is are always enabled. I am running the most recent Adobe Flash Player 11. Any ideas??? Thanks!

2.3.5 and 2.3.6 should provide flash, but ics alpha isn't able to show it (maybe only now)
I'm running 2.3.5 so it should be good. Any suggestions?

yeah, this should normally work...
had you tried to de- and reinstall the flash player update? maybe this went wrong? did this happen already before updating to flash 11?

I did try to uninstall the flash player but I was only able to uninstall the update and not flash player itself. With the update uninstalled, videos still didn't play. My phone is only a few days old and received the update right away so I wasn't able to test it pre-update. Is there a way to uninstall flash player completely?

yes, there is a way but only if you are willing to root your phone.
step by step:
root your razr with ZergRush
install Titanium Backup root
open Titanium Backup
switch to "backup / restore"
choose "Adobe Flash Player"
be SURE you made a backup of the app with Titanium
uninstall the app
install Flash Player from the market
try if it's working
if it's not working restore the backup using Titanium
disclaimer: i won't be responsible for any damge you do to your phone while doing this

Ack!! I was hoping i could avoid rooting my phone. Its weird that it doesn't work though, that alone should be resolved without having to resort to rooting. Other options??

don't know exactly if there are other options, but the android installed on RAZR prevents you from uninstalling some 'important' apps... so there should be no other way to uninstall flash player, because rooting changes your permissons
PS: other threads tells the same (made little research for you ) ... seems you have to root your phone to remove stock flash player...
EDIT: you have to root for removing stock apps because it's sometimes a bit 'dangerous' could happen you remove some very important ****
Have you tried using different browsers? I wouldn't leap straight to removing system apps without troubleshooting first.

Try to wipe cache and data in setting/application/manage app/system app/flash player there & wipe.Hope will solve the problem.
I received a notification for an OS update to 2.3.6 and after the update, my flash was working again. Weird. Next time it stops working I'll try to wipe cache and data. Thanks.

How I got my rooted RAZR to install ICS OTA successfully

If you have safestrap go into the app, select the uninstall feature and re try the install. No need to download anyones utility or no need to factory reset.
do you happen to know the download path of the ota? Due to safestrap mine failed.. hate to download it again..
Should be in setting/ about phone/ updates
yeah thats to download it again.. i was hoping it would just install it if the system saw the file there. oh well at 55% i can wait a little longer..
After the phone reboots, if the install takes really really slow then ur on the right path
What if I have installed BootStrap recovery????

mine failed for a second time :/
Did you use voodoo ota and temp unroot? You need to do that as well i just figured that was a given by now

Arrgh i swear i did.. While i was doing tb backups it slipped my mine i reckon.. really wish i could find the dl path for the update... hopefully third time will work!
Whether uninstalling the "Razr BootStrap" using "Managa Applications" is enough... Or I have to do some extra steps too????
Please help me... I don't care much about root, as the update usually unroots it and I can root again easily...
Bootstrap may be a dif problem. Like i said i used safestrap. I dunno what else you have done to urvphone. You might need the dev team to help you. I never used roms so i was stock i also never froze any bloatware.
Ummm. You're welcome....

I think i thanked you last night lol.
arrgh 3rd time failed no bloat removed just stock rooted.. temp unrooted safestrap uninstalled.. any ideas? guess i might need to restore back to stock..
Sounds like you have something breaking the install. I know ive done very little to my phone. Factory reset may be your option but i would get hold of a tech here b4 u do anything

You need to first uninstall the razr bootstrap app through "manage apps" (look under the all apps tab - clear data first while you're there).
Then, with root explorer or such, go to the /system/bin folder, mount r/w, and delete the following files:
hijack
logwrapper
Then, rename logwrapper.bin to simply logwrapper (just remove the .bin)...
Reboot, and it should be all cleaned out.
I would also recommend using voodoo ota rootkeeper to backup your root, then temporarily un-root (hide root) before doing the OTA install.
If you still get ota install errors, then you probably removed some system apps that are verified before installation... check /cache/recovery/last_log for errors.. then either replace those apk/odex files, or flash the fxz..

Thanks so much for the info. That logwrapper file was withholding me from updating.
I tried deleting and renaming the files with no success updating. I eventually just ended up doing a factory wipe and using Matt's Utility and flashing back to stock. It was a little frustrating, but the Verizon backup utility combined with Google services saved me. I guess i need to learn how to use Titanium backups. lol
this thread should be titled "How I got my Safestrapped RAZR to install ICS OTA successfully", as your issue was more to do with safestrap then specifically just being rooted.

Any way to stop OTA reminder?

I purchased a Razr Maxx with the intention of keeping Gingerbread on the device. This morning I woke up to a reminder to install the update.
I've been searching on google for a method specifically for this model phone to ensure it doesn't happen again, but haven't had much luck.
I am aware wiping the cache will delete the update files, but is there a way to prevent them from even being checked/downloaded??
Appreciate the help.

Thank you for your reply. I thought I remembered something about otacerts.zip, but the only info I can find leads to HTC phones having this app/process.
I will freeze the updater and hope for the best!
Using titanium to freeze the updater works perfectly. You need be rooted of course.
You could just install a nice GB rom.

[Q] BusyBox Installing and Uninstalling

Hello,
I'm thinking of installing BusyBox on my Nexus 7. The device is rooted but before I go through with it I have a few questions about it.
Is it safe to install without having a NANDroid backup or custom recovery?
Will it be possible to uninstall without wiping the device?
What is the best app to install it? Stephen (Stericson)'s BusyBox or JRummy Ppa Inc.'s BusyBox installer?
Thanks.

Backup is important for your data. If there is a problem your tablet will be stuck on boot loop and you have to wipe data. Doing this operation will be a little risky without a backup
If you have a backup your system partition you can wipe system and restore previous system and busybox will gone.

Thanks. Will it be the same for uninstalling? Also, if I decide to temporarily unroot to install an OTA update, will I need to remove this and reinstall after re-rooting?

Yes Its kind of manuel unistalling. I dont know exactly but OTA works only with stock ROM. Means you need to flash stock rom and reinstall it if you want it in update

Oh and also, If I do Install BusyBox how do I remove it?
Stericson's App requires it's Pro version to remove it and I don't have a Credit/Debit Card and BusyBox installer has less users compared to Stericson's (and that makes me wonder why)
Can I just erase it from /system/xbin with a File Manager? If not, how should I remove it other than restoring from a Backup of Factory Resetting.
