kernel is hardware specific as far as i know and also baseband.
kernel includes all the drivers for ur hardware, so that means cross flashing may cause ur hardware to stop working

I think U should ask munjeni or Divaksh. They developed a few kernels so they have know

you can edit your kernel by getting the source from sony and building a new kernel with the modified parameters that you want and also use the kernel from the dev section as per your requirement...........

It fully in build.prop. You need change some thing in that file to edit what you want

Hey guys....now that our device is finally rooted will we get an o/c kernel??
It has the same cpu/gpu as xperia active/ray/arc which have an o/c kernel available if you want to flash it so wouldn't be fairly easy to have one for our device as well?
If i'm not wrong we only need the cpu frequency and voltages settings to be put on the kernel of you phone,right?
Please correct me if i'm wrong!

Well, I beckon to disagree, as I'm trying to flash it for quite some time, only to get error messages in Flashtool.. (Oh, and before you ask, my bootloader is unlocked, as I flashed other kernels with no issues)

Ann not really ... firstly did extract the script and then again compressed it to zip .... then i tried directly from zip ... and its done
and yes! some things also were changed like mount things and stuff!! now works fine
Still ... can anyone tell me what caused this problem? because on both kernel firstly it did flash with asserts

i used the haida defconfig... also FXP releases CM for hallon and haida! so im guessing there is a difference.....

True but not entirely correct, depends on which source are they built. For example ICS .562 kernel was different, not sure about versions after that.
In general they are most of the time same, but not always.

Rom doesn't matter at first booting stage. It should at least show kernel logo. There something messed with either config or compilation.

It just means that the driver can access memory at low level, it doesn't mean low memory usage. You can hope for a better memory management at least.

In Xperia U there are only two developers making custom kernels (apart of devs who include them in their ROMs) and they don't update his hernels, so I'm going to include the drivers myself.
