[Q] HTC Amaze Diagnostics Mode? - HTC Amaze 4G

Does the HTC Amaze have the ability to enter the HTC Function Test mode/Diagnostics mode? When I type the code: *#*#3424#*#* into the dialer, it just clears out. It is the T-Mobile USA version, with S-OFF, SuperCID, root access, unlocked bootloader, and running Revolution ROM HD. I read in other forums that FieldTest.apk is needed, but after putting it in system/app and setting permissions, it still doesn't work. Can someone provide some insight?

[Q] Root/unlock/s-off question

I know, i know...probably sick of these questions by now...
So i typically went the s-off un-official root methods with evo/3vo. Im thinking this time around i want to take a different approach as my needs have changed.
Im much more interested in keeping stock rom/kernel for the time being and being able to use root apps (like tether).
The grey area for me is exactly what does the HTC method of unlock allow me to do? I understand its not S-off.
Is it possible to root my phone and still take OTA's? (via HTC unlock or other methods)
Lastly what is the downside to HTC dev unlock? i understand it marks the phone in some way as unlocked and voids the warranty?
thanks
I know for a fact you could have root and not have to do the HTC unlock.
So what exactly does HTC unlock do then, is there a way to root and still get ota updates?
Sent from my EVO using XDA
Unlocking will allow you to: replace recovery, which opens up to much more you can do.

Unlock allows you to flash custom roms, like the Viper Rom.
Direct form HTC's bootloader unlock FAQ guide
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.

I'm surprised no one has answered your questions. If you're just rooted with a stock ROM you should still get ota's

Thanks ! I'm totally new to the scene (smart phones in general, must less the root scene). While I'm fairly computer literate, I feel like a toddler going "Ooo what's this? " "Why?" "Why?" "what's that? "
Not trying to be a jerk, but any thread with a [Q] should go in Q&A.
I'm more shocked there isn't a s-off wip thread yet however many people haven't git their phone either..

I agree, meant to put in q&a. If a mod could move it.
So what's s-off give me that HTC dev doesn't?
Can ne 1 confirm plain root and ota working?
Thanks all

s-off allows you to flash radio's and kernels. Unlocking only allows you to flash Roms, and other things that don't effect the kernel or radio images.
IE, none of the aosp roms would be able to be flashed without s-off, because they use different kernels than the stock one.
Root works, and I have installed viperRom and it works well with a few mods that the stock rom doesnt have.
oh crap!! I didn't even think about not being able to flash AOSP without S-off. My only intention buying this phone was to be able to run AOSP ASAP.
But wait, are you sure about not flashing kernels? I thought people with the Evo 3d and S-on were able to flash kernels via flash_image GUI?
sent from my Evo LTE, usually.
So i rooted using the script...painless.
Just what i wanted, root but stock everything. Also picked up a app i saw in the apps section called voodoo something or other, that lets u temp unroot for updates/backup root. Sounds cool, hope it works. SU, wireless tether, and titanium all seem to work fine.
Maybe its just me, but i did notice the phone has some stutters now during startup and shortly after...prob just me

How to turn S-ON

Hey guys,
I was looking around at the other sub-forums trying to figure out how to turn S-ON, Relock my bootloader, and unroot the phone... was hoping someone could help.
I used DirtyRacun to turn S-OFF.
I got a replacement device and need to send the phone back to Sprint and wanted to send them a stock device.

I saw that, but as I stated, I used DirtyRacun to turn S-OFF... I guess by your reply the methods are the same.
I didn't see it state anywhere in that thread the methods are the same.
I just tried the link you posted, using the RUU method, and of course it doesn't work...

I see what I did wrong, looks like more than likely I was using the wrong HBOOT version of the RUU.
Once I get the correct one I think what the previous member linked to will work.
Thanks for the help guys!
If you go to unlimited.io and check the different methods of gaining S-Off, you'll notice that they are all linking to the same page. So the same method with work for any method.

[Q] Anyone flashed a different RUU yet on their TMO device? (After S-OFF/SuperCID)

Asking to see if it did anything to the AWS band we have exclusively on our T-Mobile devices. I haven't taken the plunge yet, and am not asking anyone to be a test dummy for us, but if someone's done it already it would help out the rest of us to know!
As I stated in another thread, I'm gonna try to flash a Dev Edition RUU in a few hours when I get out of work to see if the HSPA on AWS band will stay or not. It should help give some clues as to whether there is an actual hardware difference in our T-Mobile Ones or if it's just software. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Great news for us with T-Mo devices! Not so good for those without. May I ask which RUU you flashed? And if you could install any OTAs?

Can you please tell me how did you do that? I have a T-Mobile HTC One (NL) and everyting is wiped and my device is relocked now. Is it possible for me to recover my phone with the Dev Edition RUU?
So in any means: S-OFF means that I can flash any RUU on my T-Mobile HTC One?
Yes. It's a fairly easy process if your adb/fastboot is working properly

That's my biggest problem. I've installed Android SDK and adb + fastboot. But each time it says that there are no devices when I typ: adb devices. The strange part is: hasoon's all in one works perfectly. I really don't understand what the problem is.

[Q] Original CID for Sprint

I have a fully rooted S-Off'd HTC One Max which has also been super cid'd. Can anyone help me with the original CID my phone? I want to change it be back but forgot to write it down. Any help anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

what did you do to get s-off on your sprint phone, i've tried rumrunner and firewater, and every single step in the guides, but i can't get it to gain s-off.
i do have the bootloader unlocked via htc dev, and twrp, and currently running vipermax rom on it. is there something i'm missing with the sprint phones?

I honestly don't know. Most times I have suggested it, it has worked. I was able to do it in any Verizon model I tried personally even when there is no SIM or service to the device. I would think it should work for other people if it worked without VZW service for me.

It's a little strange because we do not have that device, so likely none of us will have the files you need/want or are looking for.
Yet you have asked in just about every active thread in the Dna forums.
Looking in your devices forum, is going to provide you the best results, and asking over there as well.
None of us have Butterflies or files for them.
Try HERE: LINK
This is for Butterfly X920D
So be sure you are only flashing what's intended for your variant.
I have no idea if that's what you need or not, but it will certainly be closer then anything we have here.
