[Q] Voicemail - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I don't believe my issue has been mentioned yet, but I have the Verizon Note 2(obviously since I'm posting this in that devices forum). I use Google Voice as my voicemail. Only recently has it given me this tiny issue. Whenever I turn my phone off and then back on it gives me that little icon in my notifications bar telling me I have an un-read voicemail, but I don't. I do believe that I have it set up and configured correctly, is there something I missed ?

How do you Terminate Voicemail Notification?

Guys, this is really annoying me so any chance of a little help please...
Today I received a notification of new 'Voicemail'.
I didn't know the number (hate it when this happens as there is a charge every time you listen to the message).
As it happens the message wasn't for me but I was still charged to listen to it.
Anyway, if that is not enough what is annoying is the voicemail notification simply will not go away from the top bar.
Every time I reboot the phone it first starts to play out loud the voicemail notification and the only way to terminate it is to pull down the notification bar.
Thing is what's further annoying is no matter what I do I can not remove the voicemail icon and notification from the top bar.
When I click to listen to the voicemail it simply tells me I don't have any outstanding voicemail so I then hang up but the notification will not go away.
I have been to the T-Mobile web site obviously there is nothing there and on the phone I have dialled 150 Option 4, 1, 1 which is meant to stop voicemail (I think).
Help please..... It is driving me crazy.
I also want to know
It drives me crazy
I am with fido and I have a voicemail notification and it does not want to go away
I erased the phone 2-3 times, I left a message in my voicemail and then I deleted
no matter what I do the notification is there.
I tried the same with my nexus one and atrix but I dont have any notification.
It seems to be the phone itself
Just a long shot, but have you got a txt message that relates to having a voice mail, if so try deleting?

Well, in a weird sort of way I am pleased I am not the only one who is having this issue (apologies prince_72). It shows the problem is not isolated to either my phone or some form of settings.
In answer to morg01 ~ no... as a protection to my profession once I have received and actioned any text messages they are deleted. So it can not be a previous message that is the cause.
If the blessed thing has not disappeared come Monday I will speak with T-Mobile to ask if they have an answer.
However, I think they will most probably point me either to here or here but all these do is terminate voicemail, not handle notification.
I'm hoping it is something as simple as their system that is reactivating the notification despite the fact the last one I received I deleted.
We'll see.
I had this issue along with the com.android.phone crashing issue and they just switched my phone out in the shop. It might be time for a replacement?

Time for a replacement! That's a bit harsh.
In all other manner the phone works absolutely perfectly.
I have the issue too, I don't have carrier vm set up (i use g voice) but I forgot to set up voice after doing a wipe and got a vm. It asks me for a password that doesn't exist and wont let me delete the notification.
I dont think a replacement is a solution.
This is a software problem and I think the problem has to do with the software
implementation of the voicemail implementation.
If I put my Fido sim card to my Nexus one or Motorola Atrix I dont get the voicemail notification.
Also just to reply to morg01 I do get text messages along with the voicemail notification at the status bard but I delete the text messages I receive.
The problem is how to remove the voicemail notification.
I have a feeling that the Baseband implementation is wrong.
I got the phone from Europe and I dont think it supports the special features from Fido.
Just to mention that I dont have Name Display as well.
I would have to wait for the Canadian version to appear and to flash the modem
but until I wait that I will be really happy to remove that stupid ugly notification
I've been using Google Voice for the last 6 months. It's not always perfect, but you can read a transcript of your mail. And it's free and reversable.

Finally I fixed the notification problem
My carrier (FIDO) has two voicemail systems. One is for Iphone with the visual voicemail and the second is the reset of phones.
I used to have the second. It seems Galaxy S II does not really work ok with the more standard. The CSR switched me over to the visual voicemail and now everything works ok.

Nice one.... That proves it's a carrier issue.
I'm hoping to get to the bottom of my problem tomorrow.

[Q] Stuck New voicemail (1) Icon

I have owned my Atrix for several months now and well this is a problem that I have had since day 1. The problem is the in the Android notification bar is says New voicemail (1). This Icon has been there from day 1 despite all my attempts to clear it. I am on AT&T but use Google Voice to mange my voice mails.
Before you start giving me the run of the mill call your voicemail crap, I have tried that it does not work. What needs to happen is for me to tell Android that there is (0) new voice mail's in the inbox. The problem is I have not found a signal spot on the net that contains that information.
Even worse is it survives being Unlocked, Rooted, Romed, and flashed like crazy.
Suggestions/Solutions would greatly help.

[Q] Voicemail notification will not go away.

OK guys, I have a dilemma.
I've searched through the forums and turned up nothing, so I did make an honest attempt to solve this on my own.
Now, down to business.
For the past few months now, my new voicemail notification will just not go away.
The phone will not let me simply dismiss it, either. Even if I wipe, and switch ROMs.
I can't just call voicemail, as well, to clear. I get a the female Google Voice, voice saying " A problem has occurred. Please try again." As such, I believe the problem first occurred when I first subscribed to Google voice. (I received a GV# as well.) Of course, first thing, I switched my voicemail provider to GV on my phone. From here, I noticed the notification, (presumedly from AT&T voicemail) was still there. "Simple enough", I thought. Just switch my VM provider on my phone back to AT&T.
I still get the GV voice not letting me call.
I'm at my wit's end over this issue.
Thank you all in advance and for your your continued help toward the i-777 community overall.

This is just a wild guess... I have had the ATT vmail icon stick (stay on) from time to time. The way I have found to clear it is call from another phone and leave myself a message. Wait for the notification, and then check vmail and delete the message. (take your time with this) Sounds crazy, but it clears it for me. I think if you get a vmail and you speed through the process and delete and hang up right away the notification sticks every once in a blue moon.
If you cant access your ATT vmail, you need to disable all of your GVoice options till you clear matters up with you ATT Vmail account.
Dial ##004# then press send to stop forwarding of GVoice.

Thank you. I appreciate the quick response.
I tried what you suggested, and when when I call voicemail, I still get the GV "We could not complete your call. Please try again.", message.
I'll probably just end yp calling ATT and asking that they wipe my voicemail-box for me. (If they can.)
Issue Resolved
I called AT&T. The lady on the other line was very cheerful, helpful, and attentive. She un-setup my entire carrier voicemail for me, which as a result, finally removed my new voicemail notification!
While I'm still not able too access my carrier voicemail system, this isn't a problem to me as I can use Google Voice instead.

[Q] No Verizon voicemail notification

Hi. I'm running CM 10.1-20130117 nightly on my Fascinate. For the most part it works great as a daily driver. The only major issue I have is I don't get voicemail notification.
It acts as if it only checks for voicemail once when it powers on.
If I have voicemail when I reboot the phone, I get the notification, and it stays on even after the message is cleared. If I reboot the phone again the notification goes away, but doesn't come back on if I receive new voicemail.
I've had this issue across multiple nightly builds. Other notifications such as email and text work correctly.
In settings, I've tried selecting and deselecting message wait indicator. Service is set to My Carrier, and voicemail number is *86. I haven't loaded any voicemail apps, and I've also cleared out all voice messages.
Can someone help me out?
This is a common issue for 4.2.2 ROMs on older Android phones. There is no known fix and I have experienced it on both a Droid Incredible and Samsung Fascinate on Page Plus (a Verizon MVNO).

Maybe you should install a voicemail app... I wouldn't go with verizon's visual voicemail since you gotta pay a monthly fee to access your messages. Go with Google Voice. It's free, easy to set up, allows access from the app/web, works with messages same as you would with emails, transcribes recordings... did i mention its free? Went with google voice a long time ago n never looked back... verizon's a joke.
I know it's an old post, but AOKP worked for me for the VM notification.

Question Updated phone app broke visual voicemail. How to fix?

Hi folks,
Completely stock, unrooted, fully up to date Pixel 6 purchased from Google, running on AT&T in the US. Yesterday Visual Voicemail was working fine. Today, woke up to new icons for both Messages and the Phone app on my home screen. I had heard that new versions with new icons were rolling out, no big deal.
However, during a meeting my phone rang, and I didn't get a visual voicemail of the transcript. After the meeting I went into the app and it said something like "Visual Voicemail isn't working. Call voice mail to set up."
I called voicemail and entered my password code (manually, why didn't it remember my password) but there was nothing in there about VVM.
Any idea what's going on here?
I may have fixed it by turning off VVM, then turning it back on and re-enabling transcription. It took a few minutes hung at the "activating" stage, but then seemed to clear up. I left a message, and it got transcribed and I can see this in the app now.
However, I think they monkeyed with the layout a bit. And the shortcut on my homescreen to the VVM window is gone. Why do they change things that work fine already?
