Hmmm they might be permanently gone but you can try something like ES File Explorer, OI File Manager, or Root Explorer and go to either your pictures folder or DCIM folder and see if they're still there. Good luck!

Nope not there whem using those.. guess I need to get on my moms comp and use a file retrieval software. She did a qucik scan. Amd uncovered a few photos. But for one reason or another I keep having to stop the search early.
Im hoping since its a 64gb card the dcim folder isnt being written over.. once I recognized wat happened I stoppex sing it. Still open to suggestions!

Get a computer with linux or a linux livecd. Install testdisk.
It has a program called photorec which will recover everything. It's easy to use. Google it.
Good luck!

Is this the same program as photorec for windows? I used the windows version and it did bring back about 30 photos. The strange thing is the ones it brought back were in the middle of pictures. Like my oldest pictures and my newest pictures did not come back. I'm wondering if the program testdisk would work on this, bringing back partitions or something. It seems most of these programs are designed to bring back photos after they were deleted which I didn't do. This sucks!!
Still hoping I can get them back somehow. Any other programs out there? I tried Recuva and Photorec.

Ok so i have a dell streak that i busted the lcd on. I went and bought a new phone and theres some stuff i need off the streak. I cant see anything on the screen so i was wondering if its possible to connect to the phones internal sd card from a computer, like u normally do with th external sd card. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
You can remove the inner sd and hook it up to a pc, but it's partitioned and formatted differently.
If you reformat and repartition it to work like a normal card it wont be able to be used to boot a streak anymore.
If you wanna grab your contents off it you'll prob do it easiest though linux, though i dont know the specifics
What are you trying to get off of your Streak?
If you set the phone up with gmail your contacts will be backed up there and even if you don't have an Android phone now you can export them from the gmail web page and then probably import them into your new phone.
This thread or one of the screen replacement guides shows how to disassemble the phone to get to the card, you can also make the card accessible like this. I have notched a non-working Streak as was done in the picture and it only takes a few minutes with an exacto/razor knife even if you are being careful.
How you get to the card depends on what you want to do with it now that it's broken and how badly you want access to the card. The partitions are formatted ext3 and can be accessed with a linux live cd/dvd once you remove it from the phone if you don't have a linux box setup.
edit: if you notch the cover the internal sd card slides out to the left if you are looking at the phone from the back with the flash at the top.
I do actually have an android phone... I need my notes from ak notepad mostly, and other things would be nice to have. I figure if i could get to the contents i could prolly get the notes as theyre prolly in .txt format or something. If it would be easier from a nandroid backup, i nandroided the morning the phone broke

It appears that AK notepad saves the notes in a proprietary format and to get plain text you have to export the notes to your sd card. See their FAQ. You might want to email them and ask the best way to recover your notes.
Well i guess i'll try removing the internal sd since its gonna be taken apart soon ayway when my replacement screen comes in
Thanks for the help!!

You have to connect the card to a computer that can read the ext3 file system. Sounds like you connected it to a windows box. You can download a linux live CD/DVD and boot that from your CD or DVD drive and you will probably be able to plug it in and see the contents.
I recommend Linux Mint or you can try this, which is an application that allows windows to read ext3. I would not use the windows application to write to the card.
I tried both ways you said to try marvin02. Linux Mint wouldn't read the card reader for some reason. The link you gave for the windows ext reader doesnt work with windows 7 so i googled windows 7 ext3 and found a program that works. Ran it and its reading the card. I installed ak notepad on my new phone and tried to copy everything i could over and see if somehow it would read the old notes, no luck. I think the way my new phone installs apps and data is different than the old one and has a different folder structure.
Is there any other solution anyone could think of?
OK so I took some pictures and when I rebooted my phone the next day half of them was blank in my gallery anyone know what's up with that.
Have you actually mounted to a pc and looked on the SD? Are you stock or rom'd? Have you used any 3rd party file managers like Astro to check the contents of the card?

SD card is prolly on the fritz. Or your ROM has read write speeds to high. And if u want to be sure the data is really corrupt put the SD card into the comp with a SD reader if possible not pass thru the phone.

So i searched the site for a while and could not find anything on how to get back information (really only pictures) after I Reset my phone back to factory. For some reason or another my phone would not allow me to sign in through Gmail even after talking with Google on the phone and confirming my email my locked phone would not unlock. I have to send back this phone by moday but was sent here by a guy from Tmobile since he said this is the Best place to go. I did try using Recovery programs both apps and on PC but was unable to find anything and apparently my phone never backed up anything to gmail ect. Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!
If this is a repost and you can shoot me in the right direction that would also be great but as i said i was unable to find anything in the Amaze section for this !

How did you attempt to recover the files with the recovery programs? Also, the more you use the phone, the more likely the deleted files will get overwritten with other junk files.

Most likely, it meant it stored the photos on the phone's internal SDCard. You should try installing Recuva, its an another recovery program. After that, connect the said phone to the computer with an USB cable and it should ask you to choose a connection type, and then choose "Disk Drive" to have the phone mount both of its internal and external storage to the computer. If you press start and then select computer, it should display 2 additional drives, both of which is from the phone. They should show up with their drive letter (Such as F:, G:, I:, K or something like that.
With the said program, choose it to search all pictures, and as for the location, select "In a specific location" and then choose the drive letter the *INTERNAL* storage is at. The drive letter is usually also represented with a label of HTC_STORAGE or INTERNAL, or something similar. After selecting the location, you can optionally enable deep scan, but it will take a long time.
If it does find something, the most important thing is to have the files transferred to a *DIFFERENT* location, such as your computer's hard drive. It is NOT wise to transfer the files onto the internal storage until you have transferred all of the found objects to a different location.
After you have transferred the files to a different location, you can optionally put the pictures back on the internal storage, or leave it on your computer. The choice is yours.

There was a program I used to retrieve my lost data. I gotta find out what it was called.
Recovah ftw. Works with android and windows.
Checkout filehippo.com I recovered files that were written over More than a few times. you wont recover everything but it's your best bet. I have heard this may work on your SIM as well but you need to get your pc to see the SIM as just another drive or something. I was able to read my sim info on another phone of mine dont remember what the program was called. Recovah is the best and...it's free, no malware, bots etc.

Ok so tonight, I decided to clean up my SD card. I had noticed that some how I had 1500 pics on my internal SD card, SO I moved them over to my external one and cleaned everything up a bit, combining all the folders. Now when I go into my phone and SD card, all the pics are TINY in size. LIke if the pic before was the size of the screen, now its 1x1 inch. I use wallpaper wizzadrii to set my wallpapers and its setting them all for TINY as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
you probably copied the thumbnails
I did now what?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
If you deleted the actual pictures and are just now stuck with the thumbnails try an app called DiskDigger. It'll find your deleted photos if it was just recently done. It won't go as far back as a PC would. But give it a shot. Oh yea, must be rooted for it I believe.

I wouldn't use an android app, I'd connect the phone to a PC, mount it, then use Recuva to scan it.

going to try that now.
Also, I just realized that all the pics were on my internal storage. I know I never set it up that way. I have always put them on my SD card. For future reference, how do i get everything to be automatically saved to the external SD card?
You mentioned that you cleaned up the images by copying them from your internal SD to your external one - if what you're trying doesn't work, do you remember which folder the files came from? You can just move them back but I have a sinking feeling that you're going to go to your Gallery and when you review your images, you'll see a bunch of white boxes with and 'x' inside which indicates that you're missing the image that was where it was supposed to be when the Gallery accessed your photos. I did something similar a while ago, trying to consolidate photos into a folder on my SD and when I moved the files, I had the white boxes I mentioned. The fastest way to fix the issue is to move ALL images off your SD, go to Gallery, erase ALL, then mount the SD card onto the PC and move images back onto the SD, go to Gallery, and let the thumbnails regenerate.
It's a pain but if you do this once, you'll not do it by accident again. Android does something similar to Apple's iTunes. You can have files in several folders and the program will 'find them' for you but if you move them, you can cause yourself quite a headache.
Good luck!

The app I posted works fine, I've used it before. It looks for only photos whole recuva will find any file ever...
For setting it to external SD that's an option in the camera
Another program you can try is testdisk. It's free and it has recovered everything I've ever needed and then some. I've accessed files on a drive that both windows and OS X told me was not formatted. Got all 450gb off of it and could also retrieve tons of deleted files. It's a computer app, not a phone app.
Ok so I guess this isn't specifically for the M8.. but I need some help. I've had my m8 for a while now but never properly copied over everything from my old phone. All of my old pictures in particular are still on my old phone. Well, most of them copied over.. but not the way I want. Basically, what I want is to get all of my pictures, and all of the different albums to just transfer from internal to SD so that I can just load it in my M8.
I don't remember what I did exactly, but most of my old pictures transferred over to my M8 all grouped into one album. I also don't want to use dropbox or do this over the internet. I thought Quickpic would've been easy to just select all and copy over.. but not that I could figure out. I suppose I could create new folders on my SD card and then use quickpic to copy them individually... but not ideal. Is there an easier way??
Also, unfortunately, my old phone will not connect to my computer, or else I'd use that.

I don't know if you tried this or not but, if you are on a stock Rom, choose the "get content from another phone" in settings. The catch is you will need to get the HTC transfer tool from the play store on the old phone. Once you do that follow the instructions. This method will transfer a lot more than just photos. You get to choose what to transfer. It works really well.
You should just be able to use any Android file manager to copy, move, create the albums/folders however you like. And then the M8 should just pick up the new albums. I'm a little confused on what the issue is?

I don't see that as a huge hassle, unless you have a lot of folders in different places. And if so, why? I suppose you are free to organize your files however works best for you. But just having them in a couple master folders like DCIM and/or Pictures seems the most logical IMO. And if that is the case, just migrating them even manually is just going to be a few taps and take a few minutes.
In any case, glad you found a solution that worked for you. But it looks like the HTC Transfer Tool is cloud/internet based which I thought you were trying to avoid?
The HTC tool was Wi-Fi direct using the m8s connection which I was much more comfortable using instead of hosting everything in a company's site.
