Performance decrease - AT&T LG Optimus G

Anyone notice a performance drop in jellybean? I've added some pics to illustrate. With JB I lost around 500 points ..antutu and quadrant dropped too. Anyone else?

Eh it's a benchmark, who knows what could have done it.

Yes i have the same problem i felt it was sluggish whats you quadrant score mines around 6k and in cf bench i get scores lower than gs3 on native and barely better overall. Im about to factory reset monday and reinstall it all.

What about battery life?
Thanks.

The update needs to settle a bit before that can be answered. Performance may increase too...

Thanks for your reply :good:
As for performance, I never cared for benchmarks.
I did everything from scratch and after installing JB I did a factory reset, formatted the external microSD, and reinstalled all my apps.
So far very happy with the new under the hood features and icons. I recommend this update.

The new update has been running great for me. If anything it feels like it's running faster. Battery life doesn't really seem worse but it doesn't really seem any better either. Still a worthwhile update that will hopefully spur further development.

Benchmarks don't matter and are a terrible way of measuring real world performance, but I am pushing almost 8000 quadrant scores on completely stock JB Also your geekbench screenshots show it outperforming everything but the Nexus 10 which has an A-15 and a better GPU.

My quadrant are 6000. I hit 7800 on ics. And it beat the nexus 10 on ics.

Actually, when upgrading from ICS to JB a small performance drop should be expected. I read this in some post a LONG while back when JB 4.1 came out. It has to do with Project Butter. I noticed this with all three devices I own too (HP Touchpad, Nook Tablet, and my beloved LG OG).

I hit 7989 on Quadrant. Completely stock yesterday.

Antutu scores questions?

So I've been unable to get higher benchmarks than what I've attached. I know its not really a way to judge my phone, but rather me being curious. How are people getting such high scores on their rezounds? I'm currently running CleanROM 4.1 and loving every bit of it. Let me know what your scores are and what you've done to get those scores.

the highest score i ever got was 7200 on BAMF ICS v1.1 with SebastianFM's kernel.

I got a very similar score the first time I ran Antutu with CleanRom 4.1 (in the mid 3000's). I tried it again a few days later, not having changed anything in particular and got a 6276. So I'm not sure why there was a 3000+ point discrepency.
I've tried it a couple times and its consistantly in the 3000 range. I've never seen even remotely close to 7000 on my Rezound no matter what Rom I was running, lol.

those benchmarking apps are inaccurate and useless. tried running twice back to back. first over 7000 then just barely 3500. total waste of time

Yeah I know they're not accurate, but until I have a better way to test it, I use em for the hell of it.

im also getting crap benchmarks on any gb kernel i try, doesn't make sense for a dual core device.
I've been hitting around 6k with Antutu.
I mostly use it as a comparison to my old Inctedible though...this phone is super smooth, so I don't really care what the benchmark says!

what are you guys getting with cf-bench and the updated quadrant?

I've been getting decent scores with quadrant, but they haven't updated the list of devices so its hard to have anything to compare it to. I haven't tried the other one.
Also, I know there's a difference, but I get scores in the high 8000s with my Xoom overclocked to 1.5 ghz, but only 3000s with my Rezound clocked at 1.5 ghz as well.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
This has been discussed in Sebastians thread. It has to do w/ an issue with mpdecision. Besides benchmarks mean nothing!
All Day
I consistently get over 7000 when I run Antutu. Overclocked to 1.834 on cleanrom 4.3
I get close to 3000 with Quadrant...but I only really use it to see if new tweaks help or hurt.

Looks like the 1.2 S4 CPU chip we have is just an underclocked...

Of the 1.5 s4 in the One X... I have my incredible 4g overclocked to 1.5 and it runs smooth as butter and stable. Ran through stress tests and benchmarks and its a go....
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
If you happen to keep running this for a full day, would you mind reporting back how much the overclock affects the battery life? Thanks a lot for this, it's great news!
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using xda app-developers app
depending on usage, I imagine it would be minimal. I assume the CPU underclocks itself when idle and only goes up to 1.5 during heavy usage like playing a game or maybe launching an app. so if you aren't doing this most of the time, then I would imagine the power usage would be pretty much the same. I'd be more interested in how much hotter the phone gets when playing a game.

Here is an update at 3:15pm eastern... I took it off the charger at 8 this morning..
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
Hmm... That is a little bit more of an effect than I expected.
Of course, we will probably be able to minimize the effect overclocking has on battery life by installing custom kernels (once we have them) with more battery efficient CPU governors. As far as I know, the default CPU governor for Android is still ondemand, which scales up to the maximum frequency very easily. Something like smartassv2 or lazy would probably do a better job.

[Q] S3 Benchmark Test

I done benchmark test in my new SGS3 I9300, As previously i have seen in many videos that after test S3 is winner but after my test My Device was on second Place.. Why So? Is there any problem in my device???
What benchmark test did you run?
Benchmarks are really just numbers dude, if your device performs well in day to day use then it's fine

Benchmark in S3
I run Quadrant Standard Edition & AnTuTu Benchmark both..its was 20 to 40 fps..

I run my s3 on three different benchmark apps. In quadratn the score was 5340
In antutu 13567
In geekbench 2 1876
What wer your scores??
And obviously s3 will not be first because htc one x+ , note 2, nexus 4 will score higher cause of the 2gigs of ram and they are overclocked

I found using shiyah kernel my benchmark was higher than stock kernel also the benchmark differs whether you have power saving on or off as with off it gives a higher score as on limits the cpu.
Also depends on what you have running in the background or if you've overclocked etc etc

Benchmarks don't really mean anything!! And most of the time benchmarks are software manipulated....
You should judge your phone by its behavior, if it lags, stutters or drains battery you have a problem. If not it's okay!!!
my benchmark
mine were, In quadratn the score was 9334
In antutu 11025....

Quadrant 9334? Looks like you made a world record !
Well I get 14.9 k in antutu & 7k in quadrant the biggest thing which effects Is the temperature of phone if its hot then scores will reduce because cpu throttles and underclocks too 800mhz
But benchmarks don't matter much

2nd rom cm 10 4.1.2-4.2
Mine:
Quadrant: 6464
ES 2.0: 47.00

I used to worry about quadrant scores, until I realized that they truly mean nothing compared to other devices. The only times the scores are handy for is comparing runs OF YOUR OWN PHONE. That's it, nothing else.

No SD card read write after JB

A somewhat minor issue, but has anyone else had a score of 0 on their Antutu benchmark related to the sd card read and write speeds?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
Hm. Does this depend on it being found at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd? Because it looks like they changed it to /storage/external_SD in the update. It's not accessible at /mnt/sdcard/external_sd.
Why do you when care about antutu? Does it make you proud if your phone scores high or sad when it scores low?
Not trying to be a **** but cave care less about my antutu score or anyone else. I just care about how my phone feels in my hand. I like a combination of performance n battery life. Cause the way my phone is set up ib score low but the phone is smooth as better n I can go all day on a single charge.
FYI: last time I checked I had the top score got are device on antutu. I ran the test to check if my kernel mods made a difference.

Bench marked score

I flashed some of chaotic weaponry stweaks profile and did this benchmark to see what I get. Is my phone fast ? Can it be faster? Just wondering
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
What was the score prior to flashing the tweaks, and does your phone feel faster after flashing the tweaks?
The note 2 can benchmark way higher than that. However I prefer smoothness and battery efficiency..
People actually care about benchmark scores?

Lol my thought exactly. These days, it's all about the software. Worrying about hardware speed is a thing of the past.
