[Q] System Dump Flash-able Zip - AT&T LG Optimus G

Ladies and gents, I would like to be able to take a system dump of my current configuration and make a flashable zip of that, if possible. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Google search returned nothing for LGOG.
TIA

You could always do a nandroid backup through a recovery? Anything more than that is over my head.

[Q] Update Error

I've tried over and over to update this thing. I've searched around, tried to do the undo webtop mod with no luck. Factory reset it twice. I'm still on the original software that came on it and want to update really bad.
It gets about 1/5 through and goes to the ! android guy. When I pull up the recovery menu after the ! guy it gives an error with AppandSyncsettings.apk...any help would be greatly appreciated.
So I guess my question is has anyone else experienced this/know the solution?
Thanks
You need to sbf first.
Thanks! Do you have a link to that file? And is there anyway to back up my info?
Here you go:

Found in the dev forum.
I use Titanium Backup. Make sure you transfer the backup files to your ext or comp or dropbox, that way you can always get it back.

The most likely reason you can't get through the update is because you have either frozen or deleted one of the original Motorola apps. This will always stop future updates. If you did freeze any apps, unfreezing/thawing prior to updating will allow you to update without flashing a sbf. If you deleted files/apps, then you definitely have to flash sbf as was stated by WiredPirate.

+1 for freezing/deleting will fail the update.
I havnt done the webtop mod but I was assuming that was what was causing the moto check to fail. Do you know if that is a fair assumption or if anyone has reported succesfully updating with that mod enabled?

Have you checked that the folder you placed the backups matches TiBU> preferences> backup folder location ?

Im running a custom rom, KingCobra 1.7 (Im a Rogers GSM user). And i rather not go through the process as i just got my phone setup how i like.
is there no way of getting the .apk back?
Please anyone with root, just go into /system/app and grab the ringtonepicker.apk
and upload that file.
This would seriously help me out....

FYI...just do a dirty flash - re-flash the rom with just a cache/dalvik clear. you won't have to set everything back up.
Modified the rom and i dont have the file i flashed again. I really just need that ringtonepicker.apk.
There is a method to my madness. If all else fails i will just reflash kingcobra 1.7 and re-do my mods, but its such a simple .apk replace that i cant believe nobody can do it.
Im about to flash an old nandroid just to pull that .apk, then reload my current backup just to put in that .apk.
But if someone could just up that file it would save me some hassle.

Sorry, but I am on CDMA so I would think the apk would be different for GSM. Here are the ringtone apks - just not sure if they will work on GSM.

Redownload the ROM you have, pull the ringtonepicker.apk out of the ROM. You've been told how to do it 4 times, I can't believe you can't do it.

it appears I deleted it, and I dont have my Nook to check if its on the SD card still. how about you download goomanager, and install TWRP instead? it has all the features of CWM, and its touchscreen!

CWM Recovery - No files found?

Hey guys i just recently rooted my phone
Before doing so i made a back up on ClockWorkMod 5.5.0.4 however when i try to restore it, it says no files found?
I haven't changed any of the file names/moved the files and i can see the files still on my internal SD card e.g. Sdcard/0/Clockworkmod/backup
I have even updated my CWM to version 6.0.3.1 yet still does not find the files
Anyone can help?
Thank you
I'm not familiar with original cwm. When you flash 4.2 roms, /sdcard becomes /sdcard/0
I know in philz recovery based on cwm, you can change this location but cwm no idea

Copy the backup files to /data/media/Clockworkmod/backup and see if they can be found then

Thanks bro i appreciate it - your advice worked!
It found the backup file straight away but i havent launched it yet.
Just wondering what does the restore feature do exactly...does it reset my rom to stock and recovery to the stock android recovery?

No problem
Your phone will go back to how it was when you made the backup.
The recovery / modem wont be touched so you'll still have CWM.
Sorry i forgot to mention that then is when i made the backup file..while i had the stock rom
Also im guessing if you use the recovery..it does NOT un-root your phone?
If the stock ROM was rooted when you backed it up, you phone will remain rooted if you restore that backup.
Thanks guys for all your help really do appreciate it

Yes. All basebands will work. Some better than others, but that is not possible to know which work best for someone without trying them all.

Consider replacing cwm recovery with philz where you can change locations

I just did a downgrade to stock 4.1.1 using Odin (which flashed it back to stock recovery), but before I downgraded (I was on 4.2), I did a nandroid backup in CWM.
After the downgrade to 4.1.1, I reflashed recovery with the newest version of CWM using the unified toolkit and tried to recover the nandroid backup, but it said no file found. The backup was already on my external sdcard, so then I tried moving it to another folder as mentioned in this thread, but that didn't work either. I didn't have that exact directory as it was posted, but I didn't think that would matter, so long as it was copied over from external to internal or vice versa.

[Q] Just rooted - Now backups.

Hi Guys
Finally rooted my i9300 from the step by step guide on here with Odin.
Now, i've downloaded Titanium and backed up to external SD card which i will also take a copy and save this on the PC.
And now im confused with Nandroid?
At first I thought it was another type of app, but then found that you do it in recovery mod, so I done this, but do not get the same options of what ive seen on the web. Then last night I think I found something that said I need CWM or something like this, and its installed with Odin?
Can someone clear this part up for me please? If I do have to download a type of file, then where would i find this?
I would look at my history, but the Mrs was on this last night buying on the Next sales!!!! so there are reems and reems of crud on my history!!!!!
I dont fancy attempting anything until I have this nandroid backup done.
Many thanks.

PhilZ Touch is a much more advance compared to the one you just posted plus it uses the latest CWM build (6.0.3.7) so I recommend that you install the one I posted rather than the original CWM one.

Im currently looking at the one you you have recommended. I was going to post on their thread, but you might be able to answer if your still online?
Like you said, the 2nd post shows instructions, there are 2 parts, 1 to put on an SD card, and the second to go through Odin.
Do they both need to be done, or just 1?
And the link that is given, do I download the most recent ZIP / TAR.MD5 file? v.5.11.2
Thanks for your time!

The most recent one for our S3 is 5.11.2. Download the .tar one and follow the instructions with the odin pictures.
When an update is available you can either flash the cwm zip file through your new custom recovery or use the .tar file and update it using odin.

Good job. :good: Now be cautious of flashing files because... it's highly addictive
Btw since you're already into backups why don't you backup your EFS as well? It's highly important to have one just in case well... something nasty happens.

I think I need to understand it all netter before I start following bullet points,
I went to do the viper4android and I ned something called busy box??? So now have to look at that!
And some things say to place the folder in the root... but not sure what standard software I can use to view the folders on the phone?
And is all flashing compatable with Odin? How does it know where to out these files?
And lastly, some prerequisites stat to factory wipe and clear before flashing.
Whe things are done like this, do I use titanium to reinnsta precious apps and contacts etc?
Thanks

Don't remove them. Freeze with titanium backup. That way you can always defrost and use again if needed. Not like removing saves you space anyway.
