recover s2 without powerbutton? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

http://videos.cnet.co.uk/crave-tv/how-to-recover-a-bricked-s2-40002388/
Can I use this guide for getting everything back to stock? I made a thread about this problem I had HERE. Since then I found out that the battery was very bad so now im back on the stock battery. You can see I had siyah kernel and supernexus rom. What happens when i insert the battery is that it boots the factory reseted rom, and i have to install an app to make me go into download or recovery mode, dont know the difference, since the power button doesnt work. Anyone know how I can get out of this situation?
I really want to get everything back to stock android firmware and touchwiz like it was before rooting. Then I can sell the phone since I have one x+ now. Thanks!!!

Buy or make a USB jig. Use it to force ur phone into Download mode. Then flash using Odin.
I suggest you use guides available here on XDA. That way, we can help you better.

Phone bricked after software update

I've rooted my Samsung galaxy S2 two months ago and I used PhilZ-cwm6-XWLPY-VIA-2.7 kernel. This morning it asked me for software update and I accidentally clicked yes. Now it's just flashing, I can't turn it off, I can't go to the download mode, and it's happening when I'm charging it.
I'm not sure if I have all data written somewhere because it's been two months ago and I didn't expect it to happen again.
Can someone please help me?

I don't think you can into recovery? Try pulling out your battery and hold power for 10 seconds. Put battery in and try booting into something
Otherwise an usb jig?

First it was again green droid with blue bar blinking every two seconds, but after doing what you wrote I managed to get into recovery mode, thank you
Do you think that I should install the same kernel now or should I change something else in order that this doesn't happen again?
Thank you

I don't think the kernel is compatible with the updated rom. So you're probably better off with a different kernel.

Problem is that Odin doesn't recognize it at all so I can't do anything. I've tried all that I could think of (keep in mind that I'm noob) and it's not working.

U do have cwm recovery, right? Try flashing siyah or dori kernel through recovery..

If u have flashed a custom kernel, then u most probably have a custom recovery.

Keeps on flashing?
Try to get into recovery again and flash a new ROM or just factory reset.

Your recovery is CWM.

I managed to get rid of flashing by inserting the same kernel as the last time, and now I have a clear brick, without any flashing
I can't get into recovery mode, just download mode. And none of the kernels I downloaded doesn't work. I have XXLQ6, and I even tried with Q5 but I didn't get any results.
It's time for you to flash a stock ROM.

I can't find it, XXLQ6 is code, but I can't find ROM for it. Is there any chance that I can use some other? I've used for XWLPY when I rooted it.
You want the right ROM for your DEVICE (model) not the right ROM for your actual ROM.

Galaxy S2 stuck on boot screen after JB update: Download Mode Available, No Recovery

I updated my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 to Jelly Bean via Kies. It worked fine for 10 days and yesterday night when I was switching Wi-Fi off, it hanged. So I pulled off the battery and after that it got stuck on boot screen. I am able to get in to download mode but not to recovery mode. I flashed the phone with Official JB rom available at sam mobiles using Odin but the problem still persists. Can someone help me in reviving my phone
Had u done factory reset after flashing the update?
Since u have download mode only, ur only option would be to flash a stock firmware via odin.

Sorry, read ur first post really fast. Didn't notice that u already flashed stock JB!
If u can't get recovery mode, flash a stock ICS 4.0.3 firmware. Then, get into recovery and factory reset. That should help u boot.
Once you do that, you can either flash JB using odin again, or u can root the ICS and use Mobile Odin app to flash JB.

Just quickly, if you got it on January, are you still under warranty? If you are, save yourself some trouble and take it back under warranty, assuming you've never messed with (rooted etc) your phone? There's things to try but warranty is there for a reason.
Sent from a galaxy far, far away
Had the same problem, seemed like a NAND corruption to me on my phone since the progress bar on the main boot logo screen was slow and was stuck half the way, which otherwise used to slide pretty quickly, indicating that the phone is having trouble reading from its NAND flash.
Before the corruption I was running RootboX 4.1 with Dorimanx Kernel 9.38.
Was all prepared to do the ODIN flashing with latest firmware for my country, kernel and possibly a PIT flash with repartition , if in case else would have failed.
However to my skeptic mind a pretty safe suggestion read here somewhere on a thread, appealed for a while, and I was amazed to see the power of hunches.
Someone reported to have restored back his set, by SIMPLY taking the battery out and leaving it naked overnight. I did the same thing last night, and guess what, sipping the morning tea, I inserted the battery again and VOILA, its ALIVE....its ALIVE.....like any other FRANKENSTEIN defying all boundaries of logic.
So someone else in the same fix, should try it at first before jumping in the ODIN waters.
Lets see for how long does it lives, which TOUCHWOOD should be for a long time, till i save enough to a buy the S4 or Note3.
Cheers.
S2 stuck at boot screen. need some help
Hello everybody,
I'm new here and came here because of a problem with my Samsung S2.
Never rooted, original updates with KIES, android 4.1.2
Two days ago i woke up and the s2 was off and didn't restart. At first it was in a splash screen loop and i could get in recovery mode tried the factory reset but it got stuck in there to... After waiting for about an hour i pulled out the battery to restart it but then it didn't get any further than the boot screen. Couldn't get into recovery mode but could get into download mode. Searched the android forums for hours and came across this post. followed several possible solutions but now i'm stuck again, nothing did the trick... Hope you guys are willing and able to help me solve this thing.
What have i done so far:
Downloaded the original firmware for my device: I9100XWLSW_I9100XXMS3_I9100ITVLS2_HOME.tar
Downloaded ODIN v3.07
Updated KIES and after restarting pc stopped all the kies processes.
Started Odin without cable connected to the S2, selected the firmware, got the S2 into download mode, connected S2 to the Pc.
Odin recognizes the comport pressed start and can see that Odin gets stuck at NAND write start!!. first it says boot in white and after about 5min got the red fail.
Tried it different times with the same result.
Went on reading this tread and cam across the possible solution to firs flash kernel (in my case i've used Siyah-s2-v6.0b5.tar), go to recovery mode, factory reset and wipe and then flash original firmware again.
Same problem ODIN gets stuck at NAND write start!!
Detail: on the S2 during all this i''ve never seen a progress bar or any other movement, However although every attempt failed, when i go in to download mode now it says
Custom binary download: yes (2 counts) -my attempts to flash kernel with Siyah-s2-v6.0b5.tar
Current binary:custom
And at the boot screen i get the yellow triangle...
I'm stuck! :silly:
Any help would be very much appreciated!

So because this is my first post they are attached to this post.
You've been pretty thorough so far. Search for Hopper 8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread, try all the stuff in the thread, particularly flashing the 3 part firmware. That's the only way you're fixing it yourself. Could be NAND corruption, but most of these cases are fixed by perseverance (for example, the first 7 times you try flashing stock firmware it doesn't work, but the 8th flash does for whatever reason), sometimes it's something really small/obvious tripping you up that can be a bit hard to figure out if you've trying to fix it for hours/days. Hopper's thread should enable you to try everything you possibly can to fix it.

Thanks MistahBungle... I'll go and try that... I'll reply here if it worked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345831. If it doesn't, it's a motherboard replacement job. I very much recommend you flash as many stock firmwares you can download (10, 20, whatever), because the alternative is expensive/means getting a new phone.

[Q] phone stuck after factory reset

my phone froze after factory reset at the "samsung galaxy sII gt-i9100" screen. it has 4.1.2 update via kiess and is rooted. i tried a factory reset and selected usb formatting as well. it restarted and the screen was frozen at that screen for 15 mins till i removed the battery and restarted. still frozen at the same screen. will not start. i can enter the download menu or what it is called (volume down home and power) but i can't enter the other menu (the one with volume up home and power) it freezes at the same screen.
can anyone please help me step by step to reinstall using odin if possible my original version (it was 4.1.2 romanian from orange) or the 4.2.2 (one that you guys know to work on s2)
i would like to try to install the 4.2.2 version to see how it works, but just for warranty purposes i would like to download the original version too (if anyone knows where i can find it)
it's my first rom install so if you can make the explanation as step-by-step as possible i would appreciate it. meaning were to download the files i need for this. i don't know if i am allowed to ask for that on the forum but like i said this is the first time i'm trying to do this.
Rooted phones sometime have this issue while updating via Kies.
Try flashing Siyah v6 beta 5 kernel via Odin. You get it from www.gokhanmoral.com.

As of now 4.2.2 is not available officially. You get custom roms based on AOSP. So many Samsung apps and features will be missing in them. You do get the stock vanilla feel of pure Android though.

were can i find a custom 4.2.2 that i can flash with odin? i found one but i was weird. it had an img file and lots of folders, not the files supported by odin.
Most custom roms are flashed via custom recovery (you have to be rooted for that). You can install CyanogenMod 9 Resurrection version via Odin.
You can find many 4.2.2 roms in the development section.

[Q] help with unrooting s2

I rooted my samsung s2 i9100 with Siyah-s2-v6.0b4.tar using odin and everything went fine. I made some tweaks to the phone and now I want to unroot my mobile. I went through many websites all of them advice people to reinstall the firmware again. I dont want to uninstall my firmware. I am having stock ROM I9100XWLSN_I9100OXXLS8_NEE installed in my mobile phone. I wish to unroot my s2 and also want to remove clockworkmode from it.
At least I need to switch back to my stock kernel, I dont want to keep the custom ROM, because the battery is draining very fast after rooting the phone. Even I tried extracting the stock kernel from the stock ROM and flash it using both ODIN 1.85 and v3.07. I kept my mobile phone in download mode, I compressed the zimage into a tar file, the I clicked on start. The kernel was recognized by the ODIN but it got stuck, It's just showing starting to flash, but too lazy to begin flashing.
Kindly advice me how to unroot the mobile without flashing the stock f/w and also how to remove CWM and flash back my stock kernel.
Thanks in advance
I don't get why you wont reflash.
As far as I know siyah v6 doesn't work to good on jb, should've gone with philz.
From where I sit....it's better for you to reflash, you can do it via mobile odin pro (so you'll get your stock kernel rooted).

[SOLVED] [Q] S2 not booting after updating SU

Hi, I successfully rooted my phone and all was good until an automatic update came out for Super User and asked me to download and restart. Since then I haven't been able to boot into recovery mode or get past the samsung logo screen. However I can get into download mode. Could anyone give me any tips on what to do? The phone keeps restarting when I'm not in download mode and I need to take the battery out to turn the phone off.
Thanks
Maybe try re-flashing the Odin version of whatever kernel you were running (if there is one).
Failing that, get a stock rom from Samfirmware, flash it, re-root phone, restore nandroid backup (assuming you have one), or re-flash whatever rom/kernel you were using if you don't have a backup & start from scratch.
