Maybe you guys can help me. Ever since flashing CM 10.1 2/09, my camera hasn't worked on any ROM at all. I put a stock ROM on it and took it to Sprint thinking it was just a camera error. They replaced the camera, still didn't work.
Here's where it gets interesting. After leaving the store, I restored my CM backup and THE CAMERA WORKED. They didn't RUU it since I still had a custom recovery and it was still rooted. Fast forward three days, it stopped working again and hasn't since.
So, what the hell?

Who is "they?" Sounds like your ROM. Wipe everything, including internal storage, and do a clean install of a later version. I'm on 4.6.13 CM10.1 right now.

If this doesn't work try an ruu it should fix all software issues and then reflash a newer rom

Wiping everything was a no go. I guess I'll RUU it and just re-root it. I'm also on 4/6 right now.

Has this always happened since you flashed ViperRom? Or is it new?
If its always been happening, do a full wipe then re-install. Could be a bad flash.

I would say reflash. I've developed a few issues over the past week or so, possibly due to some changes, and I'm wiping and reflashing to see it if fixes it.
I just bought my thunderbolt of craigslist today and it is rooted but everything else is stock. I asked how he did it and he said the long way. Whatever that means. I 'm coming from a DroidX so my root was simple. but does it matter how he rooted it or can I only flash certain rom's. I really want synergy on my phone. Thanks for the help

So long as it has S-OFF and clockwork (which im sure it does) you should be good to go.
I just flashed synergy and its great. Only thing is my camera won't work the guy said it. Did but before I flashed the rom my front facing camera wouldn't work. Any way to fix this

Did you wipe data and cache? Sometimes when I forget to do that my phone has quirks. I'm also running synergy and my cameras works great.

Know I didn't ill try that then reflash

When switching to a new (different) Rom always format data/cache and under advanced clear divlik cache. When you upgrade you only have to format system under mounts in recovery clear cache/divlik and then flash Rom.

Check out this guy for help!
check out nat3mill on youtube

I have the ROM flashed and it works great, clearing dilivk really made it run smoother, but the front facing camera still doesn't work the rear does. guys think i should take it to Verizon or call up HTC. Guy I bought it off of said it worked so I guess either I get it looked at or live with it.
Just leave it, I haven't used mine since I bought it.

Just a suggestion.......try to flash a different ROM and see if your camera issue gets fixed. Make sure that you either use ROM manager to install the rom from your sd card and clear the cache and dalvik cache both or do it manually from clockwork mod prior to flashing the rom. If you get it to work with another ROM then switch back to Synergy. Sometimes stuff like that works for no reason whatsoever but it does.
Hi guys
I've been running custom ROMs on my DX since about February and I've tried almost all the ICS ROMs, Skydragon, MySense, Sense Revolution, etc. Currently I'm running Shadow and everything runs fine. However, my Camera has not been working ever since I first flashed a custom ROM. It just opens to a black screen and closes. I've tried all the different kernels to figure out the problem, but it works with none of them.
What is going on? any help would be appreciated.

If this is the case with stock ROM too, I'd send it in for repair, if it's under warranty. If however it does work for stock ROM then there's something weird going on...

It is under warranty, I only bought it in October, but I'm feeling real lazy to go back to stock. Can you think of a reason why this might be happening?

I have a suspicion that it's kernel related, try flashing stock kernel with a sense ROM and see if that works. It may be that you have a kernel (a boot.img) running which causes your camera to not function.

So I went back to full stock yesterday so I could update and I tried using the camera, no luck. It kind of worked a couple of times, but FCd almost immediately. I'm running MyOneDX JB now, and it still doesn't work. Should I send it back to HTC?

Just a question: Do you have any build.prop modifications? Mostly the model number? This is a common side effect to that, if you haven't I'd recommend you send it to HTC
I don't really know what you mean.
But there is one thing, whenever I open titanium backup, it tells me my phone ID has been changed. And I can't restore it because that's only available in the pro version. Does that have anything to do with it?

I didn't. A while back, when I flashed a new ROM and opened Titanium to restore my apps, it popped up and said that it had been changed. I don't even know how to change it.
I've attached a screenshot of the message in titanium backup

What's the free space on your emmc and sdcard ?
Also, try a factory reset, not a full wipe, just data .

Emmc- 3.42mb used out of 1.09 GB
SD card- 5.16GB used out of 7.39 GB
Okay, will try that. What exactly will that wipe? So I know what to backup on titanium.
It will wipe all play store apps and their data.

I flashed the google rom a few days ago and noticed that I couldn't pick up LTE. So I flashed the hyperdrive rom thinking it would fix the issue. Hyperdrive works good but I still can't pick up LTE. I think this is probably an easy fix and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I wipe data/system/cache every time I install a new rom.

I would probably go back to stock and see if that works and then go from there. In the past when I have had serious issues like this starting over from stock has always worked
The Google roms have a problem that prevents the LtE bars from showing. You still have 4g but the bars just don't show up. If they fixed it recently then I'm probably wrong though.

Hello, I have had my phone for about a week now. I bootloader unlocked using HTC Dev and now s-off with moonshine. I am on stock rooted ROM with the latest software version. Every time I flash a new ROM, everything works but WiFi. Networks show up and everything and it tried to connect but it doesn't. Am I forgetting to flash something? I am using the latest version of TWRP and even tried Clockwork. WiFi won't connect with either recovery.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I also forgot to mention that I do a full wipe also. Data, dalvik, cache, and system.
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What ROM's have you flashed? Did you have this issue when you were stock? If so you may have a hardware issue.
Also, stay away from ClockWorkMod, as it can be problematic on the EVO LTE.
Everything works fine on stock. I have flashed CM 10.2, Evervolv, Vanir AOSP, Avatar, and maybe a few others i can't remember. Everything seems fine when I flash, except the wifi issue. I was thinking maybe it was a kernel issue, but I don't think so now.

You can try toggling airplane mode on and off, and try to connect. Not much else I can think of. WiFi always seems to be a little wonky on AOSP, at least for me, anyhow, but I can always get it to work.
I will try that, thanks. Will report back. I remember I had to do that a few times on another device to get WiFi working properly.

There might be some patches available for that... so checkout the developer's page and also view their changelog in order to make sure that its not a bug....

By chance do you have ATT Uverse? Just curious if yours is the same issue. My phone will only connect/disconnect to wifi when it wants to. I only have that problem on AOSP roms though, not on Sense roms.
I have been searching the last couple hours researching and still can't find the problem. I am trying to flash AOSP Roms. I will try a Sense rom and report back. Thanks, you guys..
