Unable to understand .
Do you want to know all Android release versions ??
You would be better off reading the basics before flashing anything .
29 attempts do you actually mean the custom rom counter ???
If so again its basics read return phone to stock triangle away and all the other basic information .
jje

no, there is no way to know what versions have been installed on your phone before

Kernel Back to True Stock?

I rooted my S2 on receipt near release. I am now updating it fully and trying to install a true stock kernel. Whatever kernel I use though, the info about the phone kernel still seems to show that it is modified in some way. For example after a Kies upgrade I still showed [email protected] Likewise after installing XXKE4 of the official kernel thread I am now showing [email protected]
Is there anyway to get a truly clean kernel back on the phone?
[email protected] = Android signature it has nothing to do with rooting .
Flash a stock kernel or stock firmware and its truly clean .

If i reflash the official firmware, upon initial boot up it will show trying to load csc xxx fail than succesfully loaded multi csc something like that..
My question is, will that be a give away that we have played around with rom flashing? Becoz im planning to return my phone which is running custom kernel...just want to make sure everything will go back to stock.
Thanks

[Q] Question About Rooting

hi,
Sorry i am a newbie here ..so asking this stupid question.. I Rooted my Galaxy S2 using shorfuse program. Can someone tell me if rooting replaces the stock ROM, baseband or kernel? The triangle that appears on boots shows that i have indeed ROOTED my galaxy, how can i restore it to the original condition it was?
Samsung KIES is currently offering an upgrade, is it for the ROOTED (if it changes the rom) or the original ROM?
Sorry again. Will appreciate the help
Update will revert u to non rooted, and if u didn't rom it it should be on stock kernel and rom

First rooting does not replace the stock ROM and the baseband . The kernel might be replaced , i can only tell about CF-Root kernel . This method replaces the stock kernel with CF-root kernel. No idea about shorfuse sorry.
You have to note your android software version , kernel and baseband before rooting .flash back all to stock. In SuperOneKlick root programm is a button called "Unroot" . Your phone will be unrooted.
Kies offers you a stock samsung rom. If you updated you will loose root.
Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the noob questions again, can you give info on the following
Basic Questions:
1- What is a baseband version?
2- What is the Build Number?
3- What is the Kernel Number and how does it differentiate from the build number?
4- Now After Rooting which of the above mentioned are changed?
5- Why does a triangle appear if i still have my Stock ROM?
Thanks again
dont ask any questions or you will be laughed at by idiots

i didn't note the version before rooting. Is it still possible to find out which i had? and the update Samsung is offering does Samsung checks which kernel do you have and propose an update accordingly or is it different?
The UNROOT button does it replaces my CF-Kernel with something else?

No you can't. But if you want to go back to stock ROM just update the update kies is offering. You will loose root and you will be on stock rom. Samsung KIES will never offer you a Custom ROM update. It offers all the time samsung stock roms. If the unroot button changes the kernel i don't know , sorry .

hi mate ill try and break it down for you.
1- go into settings, scroll to the bottom, click on about phone, look under baseband version. the latest baseband im aware of is i9100xxlph, if your on gingerbread it will be an earlier version, if so you can use a usb jig, about 2 quid on ebay to remove the yellow triangle.
2- build number is simply the name the given by the manufacturer ( or custom rom builder ) to the rom that is on your phone, it might include the date and time when it was compiled.
3- kernel number will be called kernel version, this will tell you which kernel you have on and you can change this to one you please, something like cf-root, siyah kernel, red pill, theres loads to choose from
4- when you simply root your phone you wont change any of the above other than the kernel, you have simply enabled yourself super user access, you should have superuser and hopefully clockworkmod recovery ( cwm ) and busybox, with the root applied to your phone you can then choose to download a custom kernel to enable things like overclocking, removing stock bloatware ( mediahub, readers hub, apmobile and all the other crap thats not really any use to anybody) and with cwm you can download rom zips directly to your phone to enable you to customize it with what ever you want.
5- you have a triangle because you have an insecure kernel, ( a rooted one ) and you used a pc or other comp, and a program like the one you used or odin, to put it on your phone, this tells samsung should you put your phone in for repair that you have rooted it, your binary counter will show up as 1 and will void your warranty, ill tell you if your interested in how to remove that once you understand what ive said in this post, if you want to know anything ill help you anyway i can mate.

Thanks mate this was really helpful!!.. One last question though if i upgrade the firmware using Samsung KIES will it reset the counter? (Doesn't matter coz my warranty isn't in anyway effected by it) just curious question? Read about a USB jig a few seconds earlier than your post, i would have to use that to reset the counter wouldn't I? And if i dont edit the binary counter now when i am on 2.3.3 i can't do it after i upgrade, since USB jig has known issues with 2.3.6 and above, no?

It won't reset the counter. You need the jig to reset the counter and remove the yelllow triangle.
no mate if you update via kies it wont reset the counter, and you dont have to use the jig to reset it, have a look at this thread by intratech ( hes ****hot)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
find your baseband in the list and download the stock kernel from it, flash this through odin, use 1.85, flash it in the pda section of it, it will get rid of your triangle but keep your root. its not the fact that its 2.3.6 that makes it redundant exactly, its that it uses the new bootloader, you can download the old bootloader and flash it through odin in the bootloader section and use the jig to reset it and then if you want to but not required flash the new one over the top of it, if your interested in using a non official icecream sandwich ( im currently using cyanogenmod 9 nightlie ( which is awesome ) you canuse chainfires triangle away program, a zip file you can flash with cwm and that gets rid of the triangle also but it only works on ice cream sandwich as far as i am aware.

Thanks man that clears everything up!! And the thread you forwarded me too is awesome , now i dont have to worry about getting my stock kernel back !!. and how is CM9? Is it better than stock as in does it provide more features or sumthing like that or just visually pleasing?
and how is CM9? Is it better than stock as in does it provide more features or sumthing like that or just visually pleasing?
cm9 is excellent, it has the new ics camera, with paneramic mode and the video camera mode works unlike the others ive tested, its not fully complete, the theme functions arent in place yet, but it runs sweet as a nut, never crashes and i use rom manager, paid 3.99 for it well worth the money, and you can download roms straight to your phone though it its a great bit of kit, they post all the updated roms on it too for the one you have installed. gotta dash man if you need help with owt give me a shout. oh dont forget the thanks button if i helped!!

[Q] Q about triangle away !!

Hi there

baseband version

Kernal version
[email protected]#3
Build number

I think it is a stock rom but i don't like it cuz face recognization doesn't work , i can't connect my device to pc as a mass storage , the bluetooth visibility is only 2 minuets and other problems , so i decided to go back to stock rom Gingerbread 2.3.5 , but when i knew about Triangle away apk i though about take this chance and use it to reset my counter to 0 cuz now am still on ICS and this apk doesn't work on GB but before that i want to ask u does it work on my current rom ?!!!
NOTE : my device is rooted with CWM
any advices can u give it to me about using this apk ?!!
Thanks a lot
developer's advice is not enough? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114

how did you flash ICS rom XXKP8( old unofficial leaked version)? if you have flashed from CWM, trangle away will not work, since you have old GB bootloader.

by flashing ICS from ODIN, you have already ICS bootloader, and as already instructed above use Triangle away....
follow the instructions of dev too
To clear up any misconception, ICS boot loaders are NOT required for Triangle Away to work. You just need to be on ICS. Member oinkylicious documented using the app with Gingerbread boot loaders just fine.
Thanks for the information, i was awaiting for clearing this doubt...
That T-away works regardles of the BL
Yup, I get the nice kick in the........ To get this info corrected lol.

[Q] Supernexus 2.0 milestone 1 on I9300 internation

I've flashed this great mod by TRWP (wipe/factory reset before) on stock 4.2.1 EMC2 ROM
all work fine, great ! and many thanks to the developer
now the issue is that i'd like to reset my counter and I try to use Triangle Away last release
The program see correctly the staus and seems to be able to reset the counter but even if it told me that the reset was done correctly, it does not.
Any suggest ?
Suggest you read the faqs and guides .
It requires stock rom to reset is the basic answer .
TWRP what mod ???

yes I've seen these two discussion but it seems not so clear and simple as you told
I've understood that it depends on kernel type if triangle away works or not, not if the ROM is original or not.
My question is simply related to SUPERNEXUS users and I cannot post in specific thread cause my few posts (less than 10)
anyway, many thank for your help

It requires root.
Some devices/bootloaders set the counter to 1 at every boot if you are running a custom kernel or recovery. On these devices, Triangle Away may always display 1 - make sure to check the counter in actual download mode, and make sure you are running a stock Samsung kernel and recovery.
