There are at least 3 jelly bean roms in the works, but none for a daily driver yet.

Bumping. Because! It has been almost two months since the last reply and I have heard there are some fairly stable Jelly Roms for the Evo LTE now. My question: What are they and how stable are they?
cm10 is very nice...multitask works perfectly...battery life is awesome
HTC EVO LTE
Cm10, paranoid and aokp are the only jb roms that I know of at the moment. All are pretty stable and lots of people are using them as daily drivers. There are still a few issues like phone force closing on boot, flaky mms and weak proximity sensor (there's a separate flash that fixes) but on the whole they are fully functional. Some have reported cell and gps signal issues but everyone's setup is different...YMMV, I suggest giving them all a shot to see which one you like best. Cm10 seems to be the favorite right now, but paranoid has some pretty cool display tweaks. If you're coming from sense and you're s-on with hboot 1.15 or later, make sure to read up on flashing the kernel separately with fastboot.

Im a completely NOOB when it comes to rooting because I have never done it before, so everything you said might as well be chinese, lol, but no worries, once I pick a ROM, I ll do extensive research on everything you just told me.
My main concern though: My wife's Galaxy SIII sends over track and album art info to our Prius Nav display perfectly. Also, the "reading SMS outloud" feature only works with her phone, and not mine. Will flashing to one of these ROMs add this functionality to my phone? I have heard that the main issue is the version of AVRCP bluetooth profile that HTC uses in sense and also the bluetooth stacks library that Sense uses. I had heard that CM fixed this, but im not sure. And what about the SMS reading thing? what determines that?
Read my guide. It has a lot of info
If you're new to the scene, definitely read om4's guide...it has lots of good info about rooting, flashing, etc. all in one place. Much easier than hours of searching for each topic individually...

Thanks guys! After doing some reading, I will post back on here with more questions.
I have been running paranoid for a while now and have tried going back to sense roms, but love the cm10 jb experience too much to ever go back to sense again. I highly recommend paranoid!

Ok guys so I have been reading on the thread you guys recommended, and i still havent pulled the trigger on rooting. I do have a few questions:
-One of the main things I noticed is, if I get CM10, I lose the awesome camera the EVO has. Im assuming if I get a rooted sense based ROM, I would still keep my awesome camera?
-One of the main reasons I am rooting is because I have heard CM10 has a better bluetooth stack built in, and as such it should work much better with my car, sending over track and album artist, as well as the ablity to browse music files via bluetooth through my nav screen. Or at the very least, I want to be able to get back the USB plug in functionality I used to have on the EVO 3D. When i plug in my Evo LTE in my car's USB, nothing happens. So, is there a ROM that allows me to keep the sense camera but also has the bluetooth/USB host capabilities I am looking for?
-When I root, does everything get wiped out and I have to reinstall all my apps, contacts, etc?
I'm on CM10 for the past month and am really liking it. Since I was also disappointed by the camera app I went ahead and tried the Jelly Bean 4.2 camera, and it works wonderfully. It's not 100% as awesome as HTCs, but it's enough for me. Look for the JB 4.2 apps - it's floating around somewhere.
As for BT - I don't think CM10 has APT-X, so audio quality would be lower on compatible devices. I think I notice a difference on my BT stereo headset, but it may be my imagination. Again - small price to pay for using CM10.

thanks for the reply, but I am not as concerned with audio quality as I am with my track/artist/playlist information showing up on my car's LCD Nav thing. Any ideas on what I can do to get that to happen? Does CM10 have this? And what is APT-X? What I was talking about is AVRCP. Stock sense does not have a high enough level (version) of AVRCP to do what I want. Somewhere on another thread I was told that CM does have this, but I have since been unable to confirm it.

Your probably better off waiting for the official jelly bean update from HTC which *should* be in the next month or so. It might be included in that. As far as cm10 goes, you have nothing to lose by trying it to see... Just back everything up before you root and then try it to find out.

Hi there, it's me again!
After being away for quite some time due to a lot of issues with my netbook, and being busy with school, I recently checked the progress on the Flyer. As expected, Dexter did an excellent job already on Jelly Bean.
I tried the ROM, and I gotta say I'm quite satisfied with it. FWIW, I am thinking about getting the 3.0 kernel from the DHD to run on the Flyer. But, I have another project I'm thinking about which sounds more interesting.
So, is anyone interested in Open WebOS on the HTC Flyer? I am considering to give it a try this week, but only if there is some potential interest from the community. It would pretty much be an effort where I try to combine various challenges: getting WebOS to boot, and getting the Raspberry Pi to compile Android kernels, since my netbook does a horrible job at this.
Please report if it sounds interesting for you, and if I get positive answers, I'll do some research on the structure of OWOS.
Although WebOS seems nice I'd rather see you beat the crap out of JB and try to get it fully working until you say "I can't take this any further".

I'm not sure, I actually think JB has 1 major dev working on it. Sometimes it's better to have multiple, good, mostly stable options too chose from than 1 completely perfect one.
That aside, I don't use bluetooth headset so some people who do really want the devs to pool their work into that.
I'm all for web os though. And dual boot (don't push yourself ) would be awesome.

I am using the latest JB ROM atm., and I'm wondering (since I haven't followed the development the last 2 months): what is really broken atm? Aside from bluetooth.
Mine VM with Ubunto is stil there for u if u decide to give Flyer some more of your time. Am I interested? I am interested in Flyer with as much hardware working posible; working BT for voice calls, music and movei playback. As long as those work well i dont care even if it is Win 3.11EE if it runs nice and smooth. However Geting camera and hw movie playback suport on JB would be very nice and would get the ROM to TOP level. U cracked those nuts on ICS; any way u give it a try on JB?
Welcome Back CHAOS I agree with Antis (even though I don't really Know the advantage of WebOs) i was hoping that You could do something like get the front camera working for Skype

No HW playback support, no cammera and videorecorde, some flickering i belive,... rest is nearlly all there! So close to top BUT BT is FIXED (no report if for calls as well but rest been tested and reported 100% working BT functionalities)
I am not sure dual boot would be neat but i know thats asking alot. but like every one else don't matter to me if it JB OR ICS as long as we can get a nice and smooth working rom that has BT good HW for movies ect and cameras working i will be as happy as a puppy with to peckers ....

while I'm a huge fan of webOS and would love to see it on the flyer I think your time may be better utilized by teaming with Dexter to finish ironing out the wrinkles in his JB build first, then perhaps a dual-boot option?

Slide out keyboard had very small keys and the slider mechanism was very poor. Screen was also very small compared to today's phones. The only nice thing was wireless charging. That was awesome.

I am looking at doing a dual boot with JB on my MAXX but there are so many ROMs.
Is there anywhere that has a chart comparison of the different ROM's?
Don't want to ask the subjective question of "Which one is best?" What is good for one person is not necessarily good for someone else.
Simplex, not jb but as close as you can get till there is an official leaky.
fast stable and reliable. add safestrap 3, swap sd and sd-ext and you have it all

Thanks. I found CM10 Licorice for the RAZR. It is 4.1.2 and is pretty slick. There are a few bugs reported but I haven't encountered them. They are quality of pics. Problem with recording HD video, and some connectivity issues with BT.
The only bug that I have run across is when rotating the phone. The screen shrinks to about 1/3 of it's normal size and then pops back to full size.
Also dual booting into licorice myself. Its the best I've come across that is cm10 based. I've tried others such as whizzed bean, but nothing comes close to licorice. The dark gapps and customizability are the best. The only problem I have is the stock camera app doesn't work for me, but I can use an aftermarket camera which is okay. The bluetooth bug also is present, but I don't use it much so its not a problem for me. The screen rotation bug is there as well, but that us with all cm10 ROMs as it is present in the base build so all others will have it until it is patched in the source. I'm on it as a daily driver right now and have been using it for about 2 weeks. Great ROM, and super fast and smooth.

I tried the BT today. It would connect fine with my car stereo but you could not talk through the stereo. I hope they get that worked out. But it will happen in time.
Right now I am about to load the AOK-Licorice build to see if I like it better than the CM10.
LOL, I have a triple boot phone now.
What's the work-around for MMS issues? That's really been the only thing stopping me from going JB prior to an official leak.
Edit: Specifically for Licorice... that's what I'm most interested in flashing, after all.

Wow. BT is severely broken in both ROMs.
But I don't use it much. only for hands free in car.
When enabled, it breaks Google Now speech input AND you can't make a regular call with the handset. Well you can make a call, but you can't hear anything and the other party can't hear you. That is when it is NOT connected to a BT device. Just turning on BT causes this.

Hello people, I am unrooted and have enjoyed my ATRIX 4g even though I have been stuck with the final ginger bread ota release at&t gave us and have waited patiently for the promised ota ICS upgrade which they now posted we will not get, I am aware that there is a Leak Test ICS that is buggy, and have been mods made or provided over here by your awesome developers bringing our devices up to JB level even, but am a fan of the functioning camera and finger print biometrics personally. I am a noob as far as Android rooting but very tech savvy and with devices and software in general, every app I have wanted to use has been great on this phone regardless of what version it was made for until today... I am quite into photo editing and have a ton of photo edit apps and engage in IG a bit, we as the underdogs over at IG were always fighting to make our tweaks and edits look as good as an Iphone edit mainly because they had an app called Snapseed, I was very pleased. When I read google had purchased this app drom NIK software a month ago and today it was finally released for Android, I went to Google Play and it for the first time ever said this app is not compatible with your device, it needs 4.0 or above in other words ICS, now my main question here is if I did root flash a mod similar to ICS or the unstable leak version will Google play still just see the signature of my phone and not allow a download or if I was running a new os would it get around that issue, I did also write the developer but doubt they are too concerned about making the app backward compatible as Google also purchased Motorola and offer a mere $100.00 towards upgrading to a different moto phone and I love this ine and do not have the money at the noment to do so.. any advice would be greatly appteciated, as to a a suitable os and whether or not it would even allow us Atrix 4g users to download Snapseed if our phone is recognized by its name and autodetection by googlr play tegardlrss of os, I mean it's a fast phone I've had no problems, everything works, dual core, good ram, speed stirage etc.. thanks Stu
Shows up fine on EPinter's CM10. Market just checks what version of Android your device is using. I haven't installed it to check, but will be doing so shortly. I'll get back to you about how it fairs on our devices.
Edit: After about 10 mins of playing around, it's running pretty well. No noticeable lag whatsoever. Kinda regret paying for PicSay Pro since this one seems to have a simpler UI.

Thanks very much sir, I will now have to look into this EPinter's CM10 and learn the whole process and hopefully not brick my phone, I'm good with directions, does the CM10 have a working camera and fingerprint scanner, and can I save my whole phone image if it all went south? I also paid for PicSayPro and many others too, love graphic arts and photography so the cam although only 5mp is important at times.
Anyway thanks very much yet again for the info.
No problem. Yes, you should make a nandroid backup once you have a custom recovery. It is one of the recommended steps followed by an exclamation mark. =P The only thing lacking on EPinter's CM10 is video camera (related to missing HWA due to improper kernel source) Regular camera works fine for still shots. I use camera fx & camera 360, both work without any issues. And No, the fingerprint scanner doesn't work since it's not a part of CM source.
There is an unofficial, "official" ICS (ICSROM & ATRICS) that has proper HWA with video camera and fingerprint scanner but the battery life is terrible and the phone gets really hot. I personally had random restarts every few minutes.EPinter's CM10 does well as a daily driver, but if you're going to go through the trouble, might as well try all the roms available! =D

Thanks very much for this info, I will research these downloads, I watched a youtube vid of cm10 and looked good, seems the Atrix is a bit more of a pain to work with than other Androids but will look into the whole process of unlocking and fastboots and the nanandroid back up etc.
Greatly appreciate the help.

Yes, the Atrix is a pain compared others, but once rooted with a custom recovery (IMHO RomRacer's custom CWM 5.0.2.7 is the best, never had issues) it's just like any other device. Heck, I remember flashing 3-4 ROMs a day, it was insane! =P
I would recommend downloading Titanium Backup from the market as well. It will help you quickly backup your most used apps w/ data/settings and reinstall them after installing a new ROM. Good luck and have fun.
P.S. Thanks for Snapseed!

Trust me im with everyone 100% on loving CM and custom ROMS. OBVIOUSLY I want CM as much as the next guy and yes its fast (not anymore so than my current setup) and cool on this phone but I use my phone for 4 major reasons. Making phone calls & text, playing music (headphones, line out to my car stereo), watching youtube videos privately at work during free time(headphones), and video recording my kids. Now every ROM i've tried the phone calls echo terribly, forget about a quality music signal( LINE OUT & headphones sound like CRAP plus my car subwoofers have a constant hum and someFC music player & music player ALOT), and I have to give up my 1080p recording I got specifically for use with my 1080p tv for home video recording of my kids. So i'll be sticking with what I can use thats stable and supports these features which happens to be kumas rom thus far. So I don't understand how people disagree with me about this. I've ran CM and many other custom roms for the L9 and NONE of them support and are stable enough to accomplish the things i've stated above to my standards. So disagree all you wish but these are facts I can support/prove. Now YOU CAN disagree that these features aren't as important to you so your able to overlook them or they aren't as severe for you. I have a P768, but i can help you with some things:
First of all: Did you made a full wipe when you installed CM? if you did not that could be the cause of the FCs. Also which recovery are you using? i recommend TWRP. Also use the correct gapps.
About sound: Calls quality is exactly the same to me on CM and stock. About the music you should try Walkman , its very good. That one is for CM10.2 only.
About camera: Try this one, its not perfect (some G2 features are obviously not working) but you can record in fullHD on CM with it, so use both this one and the standard one for regular shots.
I think stock rom its just awful, its filled with bloatware eating the ram and the aesthetics are very childlish, but its just my opinion. Im very happy with CM 10.2 and i was with CM10.1.3 before too, and i really tried stock based roms but they are too bloated to me. I hope you can get a better experience with custom roms, they are a thousand times better than stock in many ways in my opinion.
I agree about the call quality & audio bugs. Over all custom is good. It's not easy troubleshoot and hunting down problems. Lg has several developers working on one project. So of course CM won't be up to par on every aspect. However, custom Roms give you the latest versions and o/s. So it's up to the user to find what is best. I actually prefer stock as well, but I also want to help the one man (or woman) crew
So I try to do my part by reporting problems and troubleshooting.
I agree with @mato_d007 about using the proper gapps. In addition, I recommend wiping, flash rom, boot, then go back into recovery and install gapps. This procedure will make a huge difference IMO.
I just love Android in general, if you don't like something, just fix it. Screw the carrier's and big corporates with their money. Blame them for the audio problems & video problems with their Proprietary software. Open Source for life baby!!! Lol, I think I went a little over"bored" on that one.
Yes I know I'm contradicting myself by using stock, but I change it to my likings
Sent from my LGMS769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes I did a full wipe before flashing. I also flashed the correct gapps. Im using CWM for recovery so maybe that has some effects. Im perfectly happy running what im on for now. Honestly with all the xpose mods and performance tweaks i'm using you would never know i'm running stock. I agree with you Kuma about open source for life. I don't believe you are contradicting yourself by using stock, I mean come on you clearly created the best stock platform available as far as performance/ looks and its modified like crazy which wouldnt be possible. I'm also behind the one man teams 100% as well, I just currently depend on my phone to much to run them and report the bugs and kinks. Another month or so and i'll have my N1 so once I have it my L9 will be test material. I even considered finding the right person on here that could use it for dev. purposes and donating it to them. We'll see though, i'm still trying to decide how I would go about selecting the right person. I'm so excited to see how CM is on a phone created for it, omgosh I can't wait!
UPDATE: So bummed! Just found out the n1 with CM is going to be a special edition that won't be released until later this year Cant decide whether to preorder for the 10th or wait for the CM edition. I mean im sure once the CM edition is released the firmware will be readily available to flash but I really wanted CM out of the box. However I heard OmniROM has a amazing build for it I could use while waiting. What do you guys think?
