Hey Guys, I've got a DNA that has to go back to VZW with hardware issues, i have the bootloader locked, but I am still displaying S-OFF and CID - 2222222 ... is there any way to change that? do they even check when I mail it back to them ?? any help is VERY APPRECIATED. thank you !
Just run this command in fastboot.
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
It will make you s on and your bootloader won't display your cid anymore.

tried this but kept getting partition errors:

I sent my first DNA in when it said s-off and cid showing 222222...had no issues with warranty. At least not that I know of. Haven't been charged anything extra etc.

Make sure you guys aren't doing this with the Eng hboot.
I recommend scottys threads in the DNA Android Development section, the last few pages of both threads are really useful.

THANK YOU!
this worked flawlessly, I started to panic when I was told that software modification including unlocked bootloader could result in a 299 charge to me. My VZW phone service rep was a total tool.. This is my third DNA that has issues with the 'no sim' error and terrible connectivity. I'm giving it one more go, then demanding something totally different. I LOVE the phone, just hat the errors

Just relocked and upgraded to the RUU, do I need to so the whole process to unlock again?
On a MAC, ./adb devices works and returns the device but ./fastboot unlock oem returns waiting on phone.

You sure you're in fastboot and not just hboot? It should say Fastboot USB in red on the screen.
Make sure you have any antivirus programs or anything like that turned off.

Make sure Unlock_code.bin is in the correct folder with the fastboot executabke, that sounds like the problem the unlock code file isn't in the fastboot folder.

Your name is very fitting, found the old email with the file. Placed the file in the same folder as fastboot.
Now appear to be in a hboot loop and can't get to fastboot usb
Ok so Ive been having the same issues as everyone else today. I just tried HTCdev again and got the the following message;
"We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed. "
This is after several attempts. I have tried maybe 6 times and each time it said it was successful until now.
What do I do now. This is the second and most frustrating DNA ive unlocked this week...

Alright, so Yesterday I got my DNA, I've been trying all day yesterday to get the bootloader unlocked. I did the one click method and checked the CID and it is all ones. When I went to HTC dev I'm getting the error of 160. I've done research to see that this is because of the unsupported device and that the exploit failed, yet I'm getting all ones? SOme help and or guiding would be great
Oh and I have tried on my windows 7 desktop and windows 8 laptop.

From bootloader, run fastboot cmd

Then go back to htcdev and start over. Make sure you use a new copy/paste from

So I bought a Thunderbolt off eBay. Seller said it just had a cracked screen. Replaced that and come to find it's in a boot loop. It won't boot into the ROM or into Recovery. No big deal..
I go into hboot, unlock the bootloader, great.
Now, however, I am trying to install a recovery, and it won't even boot into recovery, just shows the splash image and then reboots into a loop. I've tried installing, CWM (touch and non), amon-ra, and one other one, all with the same results.
I tried flashing the latest ruu to get back to step 1, but I get the message that the mainver is older than currently installed and it won't let me install the ruu.
Any ideas?
Search for a setmainver.zip file on here that should spoof your version #.

Crap that's right. Can u get into fastboot? If u can do this:
"Fastboot getvarall" to get your version.
If you can get the RUU as phxxx.zip (forget the numbers) to flash in the boot loader you can edit the android text file version # to the same as your phone using 7zip. Edit the mainver line to =or> than yours
Cant do this with an exe ruu.
Hope this helps
I have the 2.11.605.19 ruu zip its little over 400mb. U can upload it if u need it.

Okay, I hadn't thought of that; I'll give it a shot, thanks!
I tried it; hboot reads the file, gets to "parsing" and then stops. Do I need to do anything special, or has anyone already gotten something like this to work?
Relocked bootloader (derp), and now it is checking the file... and no option to install.. gah..
Tried installing via fastboot:
c:\android>fastboot oem rebootRUU
...
OKAY [ 0.162s]
finished. total time: 0.166s
c:\android>fastboot flash zip PG05IMG.zip
sending 'zip' (454974 KB)...
OKAY [ 74.499s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 151.845s
Hmm. Did you use 7zip to open and edit? I don't use windows too often?
Also I think you have to make your edits with notepad+ in windows (free). Sorry I use Linux..
This should solve the verification error your getting.

There is an ruu exe somewhere in this forum if you want to give that a go. I always hated zips, the exe programs never gave me issues.
Use the exe in the second post. Warning: the ruu will format the SD card. If you can, back up any information you want to keep.

Only adb push for Rom or from a custom recovery to flash a Rom.
Is Bootloader screen black? If not, what do you get in Bootloader?
Or does the phone not want to go into ruu mode?
The DNA needs to be in ruu mode to flash an ruu.zip there is no way around that, that I know of
