Wifes SII , SHO 2 ,, WANT TO UPGRADE - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Battery life isnt that great (its a business phone) , would like a more stable (battery) and I want to upgrade , might just go with Sho3 ,but what others are really good as far as battery life goes?

Try them out. Threads like these are not generally allowed because everyone uses their phone differently.

Can't really go wrong with SHOstock3. It's rock solid. Great battery life.

Person a uses his phone to watch videos and Facebook constantly. Person b uses his phone to text and watch the occasional video and has all his email syncing along with exchange services. Person c uses his phone to look at pron. I mean there is no best rom or battery efficient one because, a stated above, everyone's different. Try a few and see what suits your needs.

ok let me rephrase this for you and Ill write in 3rd grade level , for anyone who uses "A Jellybean rom" how is the battery life for the rom you are using , is that clearer? Just curious which ones work you guys , I dont care since I have a Note ,this is my wifes phone !

Ok here's the thing. For battery life, a KH7-based Gingerbread rom can't be beat. If you want the features and fluidity of a Jellybean rom, however, all the big ones are pretty similar as far as battery life goes, but, and I can't stress this enough, it depends entirely on how you use the phone.
Now, I understand that this is your wife's phone, and as such, you can't flash a new rom on it every three days. However, that's what it would take for you to determine which rom will give her the best battery life. I'm sorry, but that's the way it works.

Off topic, if you don't care about it, what make you think we care? Let your wife cares hers, and if you care for her phone, we still don't care.
On topic, as someone has already given an example of its dependency, I guess you still don't get it. It isn't a joke, it's real. Now to answer directly to your questions: yes, I am using "a Jellybean rom" now. Which one? it's you to find out. Do I have good battery life with it? Yes, with massively heavily usage for 24 hours straight, it has 33% left in the tank.

you know i guess its to hard for some people just to say:
there is no one rom that gets much better battery than another rom... they are all pretty much the same on your battery
if you want the best battery go with gingerbread or ics, if you want the new smoother jelly bean your battery will suffer most

Yeah, I don't understand the heat the OP took for the question. I understood the premise and 2 folks in here answered it nicely but generally said the same as everyone else.

Probably because this same Question Is asked every week or so here and is answered the exact same way. Eventually after answering the same question a hundred times it gets annoying when he or anyone could have found this information by a simple search. Battery life is of course as it has always been: subject to individual usage patterns.

Crazy what a search function in a forum will dig up... you'll find all your answers answered. On the other hand before I switched to task650 4.2.2 I was using Sho3, which hands down had the best batt life I've ever seen on any ROM- including the task650:cyclops:

Both are really good, synergy is going through a nightly process that's pretty fun to follow. They both have pretty good kernels and neither appears to have battery drain. If you're using an extended like I am you can expect about 36 hours with normal use, similar to froyo. If you're using the standard battery have a charger nearby The two roms aren't all that different, VIRUS and the BAMF team are both extremely talented. Flash them both, and take them for a test run. You'll likely ge 50 different opinions anyway
I suggest you download both and try them yourself.

The community reaches out with suggestions, but you are the user and naturally, have different preferences. Being a **** about people telling you to try each yourself is not going to get you personal opinions about the roms.
My advice for you? Flash the ****ing roms yourself and quit asking stupid questions.

edit: from my personal experience, I've been able to supercharge my battery by wrapping my phone in aluminum foil and putting it in the microwave for 2 minutes. I get about 10 more hours of battery life than a standard charge, but YMMV.

I don't know why I am going to respond to someone who obviously has an IQ of less than 40 or is less than 15 years old, but here goes...
Hi douchebag, i'm giving the OP good advice and telling him he should try each rom to see which one HE likes best. No 2 phones are the same, meaning what works great for one person, might not work great for him. Therefore he should try them both for a couple days to see which one works best for him, and gives him the features he wants, not what other people tell him he should have. No where does he ask which one is better, but he wants better battery life, which won't be so much the function of the rom, but the kernel he chooses, uses 3g/4g, how much he uses the phone, how many calls are made, etc. So with him using the phone differently form everyone else (as we all do), telling him what works best for me, may not work best for him (is this finally getting through to you?)
Your analogy was pointless, are you going to get a car just cause someone says to get it, or are you going to test drive it to see if you really like it?

The best battery and performance I've found was Das BAMF Stripped, but I agree that you should flash each for a few days (only hours if you find one to run horrible) because different people do have different results.

Do yourself a favor and go lay on the railroad tracks.
....ANYway,
nmtuna, i would go with bamf 3.0 all day right now. i love their toolkit and for some reason I've been having trouble using nerozehl's dream kernel with Synergy (the dream kernels give me the best battery life). in terms of speed too i feel like bamf wins again. everything runs smoother than synergy's, though synergy may have the slight upper hand in terms of looks (clear drop down, 5 column app drawer, and among other relatively trivial things), but that can be easily fixed.

*IF* battery life is most important, I'd stick to a Froyo ROM. BAMF 1.8.6 is based off the MR2.5 leak. Fast as heck and very long battery life.
As far as the choice between the two listed above, and since you take offense to people suggesting you try both, I will just say <flips coin> Das BAMF Seose 3.0.

Try them and find out. People are always asking questions like this and they just get a bunch of people telling you what ROM they use. Trying them yourself is the only way you will ever get an answer to your question.
Most people don't bother and just end up using what the majority uses, cos that's the advice they were given. May as well buy an iPhone if that's what you're gonna do

Completely agree. You should try all the ROMs that interest you (look at the features they have and compare them), use them for a coule of days each. It could be for example that you try a ROM that you love because of its features but can't stand because of the theme, or the other way around, you love how it looks like but it's feature-poor. The only way to know these things for sure is to see for yourself.
In my case, I've only tried the Leomar75 Revolution from those 3, and I think that one would be a safe choice, but maybe you could wait a little for it because v2.7 was just released yesterday and is still having some bugs (there is a new version 2.7.1 that appears to be working good but I don't know). I personally love the ROM, (I used v2.6) and will definitively try the XXKI3 version in a couple of days (or even sooner).

[Q] Battery life.

Love my SG2 to bits, however, I dont seem to be able to find a rom that is battery friendly.... Any suggestions?
I am on 2.3.4, so what do others think is better to improve battery life, upgrade andriod or find a better rom.... if the latter, which do people think is the best performing one

I was just curious to what are some of the better battery saving roms out their. Unfortunately, the mods don't like people getting into spitting matches over which ROM is better. Typically they will spiral out of control.
Your best bet is to just peruse the forums and try multiple ROMs and find what is best for you.

ROMs are like girlfriends, you can pick the good looking one, but that does not mean that she wont nag. Younger is not always better.
I have been in a quest for this very thing and I can tell you that so much depends on your usage patterns, applications you install, and other stuff, that there is no perfect solutions.
Given where you are, I would go to this thread and read as much as you can. Probably the single best place to learn how to figure out the root cause and the strength/weakness of a ROM base:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308030
So to answer you with my personal view is that:
- I cannot use the Hellraised ROMs due to my requirement to have password
- Many have had good experience with Hellraised ROMs, so if you do not have that restriction (PIN or PW), I would try that
- So from the i777 base, the best battery life for me came from UnNamed 1.3.2 with DD kernel. I still have significant battery problems, but that gives me the best

Ya, these threads dont usually produce good wholesome conversations... it usually turns into a popularity contest and different Devs dont like to see that.

(Q) what ROM/kernel and settings for best or longest battery life?

Looking for the best battery life possible... of course without hurting performance too much. I like JB more then ICS, but depending on how much better the battery life is, I wouldn't mind either.
I tether a lot right now to give me and my girl WiFi as we are on the road a lot. I use my nexus7 and she uses a galaxy tab 10. So this is what I'm using the most.
I've tried a bunch of ROMs already... and only recently started trying different kernel combos...
Best I got so far is around 16-20hrs. With 3-5hrs screen time. And probably around 8-10hrs of tethering.
Just wondering if there's a special ROM/kernel combo that would fit my needs... also I usually have the CPU around 800-1000 if I'm only tethering, I'll bring it up as needed... never really messed with under voting to much but would that help me much??
Thx for any input... much appreciated!!
Aloha! And mahalo!! hlh

You will get 100 different answers on this question, but the best answer, is to try the different combo's for yourself, and measure the results.
There are simply too many variables to suggest a single "best" answer for you.
I'm getting the best battery life on a stripped down stock GB rom, so thats what I run. But the next guy might be rocking ICS better than GB.
It's really a crap shoot.....g
i know... which is exactly why im asking for peoples suggestions others peoples combos/suggestions
if you are getting 16-20 hours, with 3-5 hours screen time, you are already getting optimal life, so I would stick with what you have now..
Besides, threads like this will end up getting shut down, because inevitably arguments/flaming/nasty posts get involved, since everyone has their own opinion on what is "the best"..
I agree with wase.....
your posted results are very good for this device, and besides, for a few bucks more you can buy that 5000mah battery and cover, then run whatever you like without battery worries.
The rest is entirely your choice....g
Hmm OK thx for the input.... didn't mean to start any drama or anything... pretty much just wanted to know what kind of battery life people are getting with whatever ROM they are using.
Also one more quick question about under clocking/volting.. would it be worth it for me as far as maximizing ,y battery life? Pros/cons?
