Update to JB Without AT&T Sim - AT&T LG Optimus G

I've been trying to update my Optimus G E970 to Jelly Bean but I keep getting "Connection Failure Caused by Authentication Error"
I had it unlocked to use outside the US and I don't have an AT&T sim, which I apparently need to do the update.
Checked the LG site to maybe update it via USB but E970 wasn't listed.
Tried the LG PC Suite IV but it keeps telling me to choose "PC Suite" in USB Connection Type when "PC Software" is already ticked.
How else can I update to Jelly Bean? Without rooting?
Please advice. Thank you.

Just root it and unlock the bootloader.

Rooting would be my last resort.
But if anyone knows any other way BESIDES rooting is what I want to know.
Like before in some other Android device, they'd Force Stop/Clear Data "Google Services Framework" in Applications and force the update. I wanna know if I can do something like that with Optimus G E970, clear or delete something in Applications. (I had it unlocked via unlock code if that matters)

You do not need at&t SIM to update the JB firmware.
I am on other carrier's SIM , when I returned to old stock firmware, I can upgrade anytime with wi-fi

I live outside the US though which I think also adds to the issue. I tried taking out my sim but still I get the same message.
Tried contacting ATT to push the update on my phone regardless what network I'm on but they just said to contact LG (which I have yet to do)
Reason I don't really want to root, I may end up selling it one day and I just don't want to have issues and hassles restoring to stock etc.

Seems you're all from the USA which is possibly why y'all can update just fine without AT&T sim.
I ended up giving it to my mom anyway and got myself a Nokia Lumia 920.
Will try and check again if I can update the Optimus G though.

Ouch, I would've never given the Optimus G for a Nokia Lumia 920 But you can LGNPST to 20j.
Download Stock 4.1.2 AT&T [Here] (Thanks, g33k3r)
To download LGNPST, you need to go to the IRC chat and request the LGNPST url. As it is not allowed on the forums. [Here]

To continue, just ask in the IRC for the info on LGNPST, they'll give you a link, follow the directions in that link. Do not download the AT&T rom on the page, its outdated, thats why i gave the new 4.1.2.
When finished, you will be updated to Stock 4.1.2 JellyBean!

I knew someone would say that.... It was a hard decision to make. If it wasn't the AT&T version, I maybe would've kept it. And since I'm having this much trouble every time an update comes, I just had to let it go.
Anyway, I will try this LGNPST thing. Thank you! :good:

Did You Try this LGNPST. I m from INDIA and i want to update to stock jellybean available from at&t. I m not getting the LGNPST FILE Links.
Can someone help me to update my handset to jellybean. I m on stock, without root.

the upgrades have have nothing to do with att sim.
it is lg upgrade from lg server

There Are Two Ways To Update Your Device.
a) LGNPST
b) TWRP Flash
For Flashing The JB Via TWRP,You Will Need To Root Your Device,Unlock It And Then Flash The .zip In Dev. Section.
For LGNPST Link Try The IRC Channel Or PM Me.

I have LGNPST ver 2.2.3. It would be nice if u can help me with step by step procedure. Also I need the .dll file. I am using ATT LG Optimus G E970

Links and guide in teenybn forum. Click show content at bottom of additional info. I suggest using tSilenzio automated version of lgnpst, it should install everything. DLL will show as ls970 because that is only one availible but works fine.
