I'm looking for some sort of stock/generic ROM for Brazilian market. Mine has a Claro ROM and Id like not to have many softwares that comes from the carrier. Also, I've seen images of brazilian mobiles w/ 2.3.4 and mine has 2.3.3.......

I am looking for 2.3 ROM as long as it has english interface and come with Android apps... I shouldn't have flash the China ROM since it come with crap load of useless apps and no Google apps (market, gmail, maps) at all!!

1. download and UN-compress all files. on your phone, choose application setting->development->enable "USB debugging", then connect your phone with your pc with USB cable and install driver automatically.
2. install SUT1.75.
3. Run SUT1.75, choose the corresponding file (FXX_PR3_NV.xml) from the folder (ROOT), when "Task 2 of 2 finished", click "Finish",
then your phone reboots:

wait untill "#" appear, then you can close the cmd window.
5. open RootD3 folder, run RootD3_zhCN.cmd
your phone will reboot 3 times. After the 1st reboot, please check if the 2nd reboot starts automatically, if not, unplug the USB cable and plug it again, step 5 complete when the 3rd reboot is done.
6. Go into SuperOneClick folder, run SuperOneClick.exe, press Root.
After it says it is completed, check if you have the Skull Android icon in the menu, if yes, your phone has been rooted.
7. Google GMS pack: http://hotfile.com/dl/143237519/5b4a135/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip.html
7.1 download and copy the above file to the root of your sdcard
7.2 reboot into recovery mode, install / update by this file, reboot phone, google service is ready.

Thanks for the instruction indeed. i managed to root my 2.3.4 by this method. Any advices on how to make more available ram? The best would be to create a swap partition, but swapper doesn't work for me. I read, that not all kernel version supports swap. Is that true? if so, what to do then?

Go here, which is where you should have gone in the first place. The photo shows you at bootloader screen. You may be able to recover by doing a HARD RESET--read the instructions for this first.

What sdevice are you using? Flash back the WM5 version of your brand to come out of bootloader. Then you can unlock with Olipro and try the WM6 again. Good luck

I altso have the x7500 but the "ATHE_WM6_X7500_flasher" bricked my device as well. As far as I know the reason is incorrect CID. (every device has a CID and the ROM must mach this) - If it is not unlocked.
You need to either get hands on the original ROM boot flasher to your device or send it in and get the service department install the original ROM for you.
... or wait until the official VM6 ROM is released for your x7500 (country/local spesific)

Not quite sure which of your posts to answer. You seemed to have posted this same post in multiple places..
If you have a HTC Advantage x7500 and the CID has not been corrupted, download this file
http://uploaded.de/?id=430xr4 (wm6 for HTC adavantage)
expand using winrar, connect to your pc via usb cable and
run ROMUpgradeUtility.exe
Hope it works...if not, Find the original shipping rom for HTC advantage WM5..Google is your Friend
You really should read the wiki and the other threads about upgrading before you did the upgrade...

"ATHE_WM6_x7500_flasher.rar" is for locked Athena's/x7500/Advantage. Worked on my locked Athena without a problem.

Be sure that you have removed your mini SD card. The Athena will not flash properly with the card in. I toasted a 4GB SDHC card by accidently leaving it in. The flash hung up where your screen sample is. Power down if possible or remove the battery, take out the SD card if poresent, try again. Hope this helps.

Yes my friend... that is what I should have done also. x7500 can be bricked with a ROM update. Therefor everybody not familiar with this : Read very well all the treads before flashing !

My topic was "Unlock from Bootloader?" and was a question if it was possible. I am not sure what you meant with this message. But I am not English or American and my English knowledge are limited.

Checked the LG site to maybe update it via USB but E970 wasn't listed.
Tried the LG PC Suite IV but it keeps telling me to choose "PC Suite" in USB Connection Type when "PC Software" is already ticked.
How else can I update to Jelly Bean? Without rooting?

Just root it and unlock the bootloader.
Rooting would be my last resort.
But if anyone knows any other way BESIDES rooting is what I want to know.
Like before in some other Android device, they'd Force Stop/Clear Data "Google Services Framework" in Applications and force the update. I wanna know if I can do something like that with Optimus G E970, clear or delete something in Applications. (I had it unlocked via unlock code if that matters)

You do not need at&t SIM to update the JB firmware.
I am on other carrier's SIM , when I returned to old stock firmware, I can upgrade anytime with wi-fi
I live outside the US though which I think also adds to the issue. I tried taking out my sim but still I get the same message.
Tried contacting ATT to push the update on my phone regardless what network I'm on but they just said to contact LG (which I have yet to do)
Reason I don't really want to root, I may end up selling it one day and I just don't want to have issues and hassles restoring to stock etc.
I just got on wifi with out a sim card and it said I was up to date.
I've tried updating it via wifi with and without my sim but it just won't go through.
Seems you're all from the USA which is possibly why y'all can update just fine without AT&T sim.
I ended up giving it to my mom anyway and got myself a Nokia Lumia 920.
Will try and check again if I can update the Optimus G though.

To continue, just ask in the IRC for the info on LGNPST, they'll give you a link, follow the directions in that link. Do not download the AT&T rom on the page, its outdated, thats why i gave the new 4.1.2.
When finished, you will be updated to Stock 4.1.2 JellyBean!

I knew someone would say that.... It was a hard decision to make. If it wasn't the AT&T version, I maybe would've kept it. And since I'm having this much trouble every time an update comes, I just had to let it go.

Can someone help me to update my handset to jellybean. I m on stock, without root.

the upgrades have have nothing to do with att sim.

There Are Two Ways To Update Your Device.
a) LGNPST
b) TWRP Flash
For Flashing The JB Via TWRP,You Will Need To Root Your Device,Unlock It And Then Flash The .zip In Dev. Section.
For LGNPST Link Try The IRC Channel Or PM Me.

Links and guide in teenybn forum. Click show content at bottom of additional info. I suggest using tSilenzio automated version of lgnpst, it should install everything. DLL will show as ls970 because that is only one availible but works fine.

My phone bricked after flashing with this rom.

for the roms and tools for Star Z2 can be found on "talkmobi" page you have to google search for it as i am unable to post links yet:
there are two sections you have to look at:
"rom download & flash guide" (top menu link + click on it) --- flash tools, drivers & tutorial get printer handy
and the second "fast card tech rom released july" (hover on the link above and a menu will apear after downloading the mtk tools and drivers from the link itself) --- on this list there is the official Star Z2 Rom do not forget to write down the 4 digit password you will need that code to unzip/unrar file as archives are password protected.
used them to unbrick my jiayu G3T now working flawlessly

Battery life is poor, less than one day if you use it a bit intensively

I am finding this phone very good and with good consistent Benchmarking scores
The only thing that is holding this phone back is the Firmware wold love to have a kitkat or Android L Roms available for it and an easy to install recovery for it.
The question is where can i find such things?
it is brilliant and the snap in cover that came with it is very good at protecting it from falls dropped it already 5x and still works and still looks good!!
Tengda Z2 brick revival
Hey guys,
this ROM ( bit.ly/TengdaZ2ROM ) is actually a backup I found on 4pda.ru after I bricked my Tengda Z2 phone using the Star Z2 ROM I found here. It can be flashed using SP flash tool v5 or higher.

There are two (or maybe even more?) versions of this phone. One has 1280x720p LCD and the second one (the one I received from Pandawill... sadly) has only 854x480p LCD... That's the reason why any Star Z2 ROM may brick your Tengda Z2. It's actually not bricked, but the Star Z2 has different LCD driver, so it's LCD is blank after flashing it.
Because it's someone's backup, use recovery or your Tengda's menu to perform data wipe/factory reset. I had wifi issue (there was no mac adress in my phone after flashing it), but the factory settings solved it.
There may also be a problem with your IMEI number, in that case, write your IMEI numbers down on a paper and then use this way to change them:
Get MTKDroidTools, use them to root your phone and installing the Mobile Uncle Tools (using the SuperUser button in MTKDroidTools) in your Tengda Z2. There is a plenty of howto's on the net or YouTube so I'm not going to write the whole process. It's really easy. When you're in the MTKDroidTools, I also recommned you to use "delete chinnese files" button, It will make your phone work smoother.
Then use this method (coppied from XDA, can't find the original thread so sorry):
1- Rooted MTK Smartphone
2- Mobile Uncle Tools from Google play store.
3- Install it and goto Engineer Mode
4- Select Engineer mode[MTK]
5- Under Connectivity Tab go to CDS information
6- Select Radio Information
7- Select Phone1 (for the first imei)
8- at the top there is a command line which begins “AT+” just type there “AT +EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_1″ (instead of IMEI_1 put your first imei number)
9- hit send command
10- You will / may get a confirmation that "sent to mSend".
11-Now come back and select “Phone2″
12-at the top there is a command line which begins “AT+” just type there “AT +EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_2″ (instead of IMEI_2 put your second imei number)
13-Then just reboot the phone.
14-Dial ” *#06#” to Check Imei.
That's all, your phone should be working as before, or even better if you use the delete chinese files in MTKDroidTools :good:

I just bought this phone and I was surprised by the complete lack of support almost anywhere. It's like the device doesn't exist. I want to give it a chance but if things remained the same, I'll have to sell it.
Black Shark
I want to root too. How do people initiate.
The Black Shark is fairly new. Especially the Global Version.
Since it is also quite hard to get you need to have patience.
As for the Global Version i already posted a Solution on how to unlock the Bootloader here.
For the Chinese Version there is no known way how to do it currently. There are a few guides online claiming how to do it but its not working according to some Posts.
So till someone with deeper knowledge of TWRP Programming comes around the corner i guess we are unlucky regarding Root/TWRP.

I can confirm, these are very generic guides... Unfortunately our phone doesn't get unlocked like a normal Xiaomi.
I'd love to understand how the commands for the Global version got discovered...

It was just luck. I checked a few sides and on one i found different commands. One being the Unlock code i used. Which is a generic code.

So i wrote a Mail to the BlackShark Team a few days ago and received this as answer:
I bought the Global Version of the Black Shark 1 month ago.
It is a really great Phone but a few things are missing imho.
First of all i would like to achieve root access but to gain this i would either need a boot.img File or the complete Global ROM. But unfortunately it seems not to be open Source. Also i would like to have TWRP so if any issues arise i would like to make a complete Full Backup of the Phone including System and Stuff before installing any new OS Updates to avoid data loss.
I already figured out how to unlock the Bootloader for the Global Device but it seems it is different for people with the Chinese Version where some people also would like to have root and install the Global Rom on their SKR-A0.
So coming to my questions.
Could you send me the Boot.img or the complete Global ROM so i could patch it to get Root?
What is the way to unlock the Bootloader on the Chinese Version?
Using Fastboot flashing unlock like for the Global Version returns
Failed <Unlock is not allowed on device has sales on market!>
What does this mean? Is the Unlock not allowed till the chinese version is not sold anymore?
Even if the answer to all questions is no thats not possible i would love to get a response.

I doubt that it will help since i never got a reply per Mail. The reply was given to me in the Facebook Chat of the Global Facebook Page.
I would suggest either asking the Seller for it as written in the response or trying to write to the BlackShark Chinese FB Page. Since you have the Chinese Version.

Hi, yes i know that that might brick the device and void my waranty. The device is working good currently but i need root and the full backup for various reasons. To backup some apps i need access to /data which i currently not have without root. I also need to read and write some system variables for apps which is not working without root. So it would be great if you could provide me with the ROM or boot.img.

Unfortunately nor Blackshark or the Seller want to provide me with the Image.
As of now there is a new Update for the Chinese Version available called G66X1811300CN00MPX
If anyone with a CN Version of the Phone would like to try to get me the Logs i might be able to grep the ROM or Update from the Servers.
To get the Logs do the following:
Go to Settings/System/About the Phone and tap on Build-Number till it says you are a dev now.
Then unter Settings/System and check under System Updates for the new Update.
While its downloading go to Settings/System/Developer Options and click on Take bug report.
Choose Interactive Report and click on Report at the bottom.
After a while it will tell you that the Log is finished. You can then send it per mail or save it on your device.
Then Download it to your Desktop or upload it directly to Google Drive or something and send me a link.

Alright. New stuuuuuuff. Today i received an OTA Update on my Shark. Which i could succesfully download to my Computer.
Current Version is called G66X1809121OS00MPX
New Version is called G66X1811240OS00MPX
With that i was able to extract the ZIP File which gave me the following Files.

New news. After bugging the guys over in the original Blackshark Forums like hell and on FB too. They created a Ticket with the Feature Request for Rooting. Maybe something will come out of that.
As for the files from the update. There is no Boot.img in there. Only a boot.img.p (Ty to osm0sis for figuring that out) which is a binary patch for the actual boot.img.
Aaaaand another Dead End.

Damn this a real shame, I can get this phone for about 300usd but as it seems like I'm stuck with stock. And whoever knows when they drop the support and updates for this phone. ?

I thought about contacting Giztop to see what they did, but I haven't since I just bought the phone instead. They seem to be the best way to figure out how to do it though if they will help.

So,
In the end, I was finally able to flash Global ROM over China ROM. All I did was using QFIL (same procedure I described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/help-how-to-solve-frimware-problem.4286635/post-85195767 to get device to bootable state, just with Global ROM.
Phone boots up but after OS is started I get the message that this OS version is not compatible with the hardware (see attached screenshot). Any idea here? I dont think its easily solved...
