As far as i know, stock camera can only be used with touchwiz (Stock) Roms.

you cannot, it needs as mentioned the TW/Samsung framework.
Please search before opening a new thread. This has been covered hundreds of times. OEM apps can not be used on AOSP based roms. Either learn to live with it or stay stock.

I only can say that it worked on RootBox, so in generall it's not a prob with 4.2 cam.
So I think it's just a bug or compatibly prob from samsung release. Over this the 4.2 apps aren't stable at all, too.
So u can choose for urself what u prefer now

the leaked stock JB is a test version and has lots of bugs, and also the stock framewrk doesn't support the 4.2 cam
Thank you guys
I have used nearly all AOSP and AOKP Roms and i haven't managed to make the camera work flawlessly. I have searched all over xda (and Internet) and tried various "solutions".
Camera app does not work at all with stock AOSP kernels but it works (this is very weird) with custom kernels like siyah and yank. Problem is that it still force closes all the time, especially with the flash enabled. My cam firmware is "ZD.. "
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: I have only managed to have a nearly perfect camera experience with N. E. A. R. Aosp Rom and I am very curious what did the developer do.

I will try it, thank you. Is there an external mod or camera apk that fixes the camera or is it just about the tweaks each dev puts into his Rom?
I ask because I love SlimBean and I don't want to change it!
nope, i don't know about a mod for this.
i tried a lot of things including matching and updating the cam firmware with stock rom.
tried different app's, kernels but always had this problem.
*could be that it fixed cause it's based on 4.2.2 can't tell for sure.

Hey,
I have a big problem:
I have brought the Galaxy S3 i9300 one week ago. I really don't like the stock rom so I rooted and flashed cm10.1. I really like stock vanilla Android. Everything works really smooth and stable. But when I try to launch the camera is appears this error: Camera error and under this: Can't connect to the camera. (Look at Attachments) I really need a camera and this is just
First I was thinking it was Cm but then I flashed other Roms (Supernexus, Paranoid, ...) and everytime the same. Only in Xperian Ze and Omega Rom the camera works but on those roms its the stock camera. I also tried to install a third party cam.app.
So now I don't know what to do. Is this only on my S3 or is it on someone elses.
And is there any way so flash the stock camera app or to fix this bug.
This is a well known problem.
I would recommend you start here first:

You have to enter the code in a Samsung stock rom. It does not work in CM.
P.S. Hit the "Thanks" button if I was of any help...

That's very odd.
The post contains pretty much all known camera firmwares for SGS3!
If I was you I would try and google "i9300 camera firmware XXYYNN" with the code you have and see if anybody else got the same.

i9300 camera is a nightmare
I've run various custom roms on my original Galaxy S, an SII and now an SIII and I have never had as much frustration with any of them as I have had with the S3 camera. Like the original poster, I prefer AOSP over Samsung firmware. Even if you replace touchwiz with a different launcher it seems clunkier and less responsive than a pure Google rom. AOKP is my favourite, it's just got all my favourite features. But I've come to the conclusion that Samsung know best how to drive Samsung firmware. As much as I love AOKP when they declare a rom version "stable" or a "milestone" this is the status of the rom before it is grafted onto specific devices, which means hardware and driver issues can still arise.
All of which means if you want all your hardware to work go for a rom built on Samsung firmware. Omega rom is pretty good, but not perfect. It always starts out good for me and then gets laggy. And then I want to try AOKP again. And I do. And the camera is still crud... and so the infinite loop begins again.
use camera jb+

Hi,
I'm amazed with CM10.1 speed, responsiveness and others, but I hate many things in it. I hate the camera app, widgets bar and that everything is black/blue. Is there any stock rom that could compete with CM10.1?

Its like comparing chips and a mouse. AOKP/AOKP will defaultly be faster because there is less in the actual ROM and default Stock OS has everything the software/phone manufacturer could cram into it eg: Samsung
Your best bet is to go with a stock ROM that is either stripped or one that you can choose the applications you want with it eg: Sotmax... or maybe even a hybrid ROM...
Hope this helps, and please correct me if i have said something wrongly anywhere:good::fingers-crossed::good::laugh:
