Hi guys. I've an LG L9 rooted (p760) and I've tryed to move app to sd but ICS doesn't have this feature. So I've enabled init.d support, installed S2E (system app) and copy '20userinit' into init.d folder, but S2E still doesn't work. The init.d folder has this files: 00test; 08setperm; 20userinit;
How can I do? thanks
Hello Buddy,
You cannot move apps to sd, while your on ics. To move aaps to sd you will have to switch to jelly bean, or there is a script to exchange memories, you can use that one also.

Yes I think I'll use the script.. thanks

I'm using the Link2SD app on my rooted P769 10g. If you have CWM recovery installed you can boot into that, go to recovery, and choose to partition the SD card. I chose 1024 for my EXT2 partition, 0 for the swap, and the rest is FAT32. I wish I had chosen something bigger for the partition. I may need to back up the data and repartition if I keep installing apps and games.
I had through about using the script with exchanges memories and opted against it. Now I see it is probably a better method as I'm sure I'm filling up my memory by snapping pictures, etc.

Now after we have root for 2.1 most of you will want to have app2sd also. The script posted in x10 mini pro android development forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804574) works ok but it has one limitation. It moves only the /data/app folder to your ext2 partition on the SD card. The /data/dalvik-cache folder remains in the internal memory and this is why you still see your internal memory free space decreasing when installing applications.
I have modified the script so it also moves the dalvik cache to your SD card. I recommend to use at least class 4 SD card for this. I have attached the modified script. Follow the instructions from the original thread but use the files from my attachment. For me it works fine.If you have any problems please share so we can try to fix them together.
And finally using both the original and modified app2sd you CAN normally use your sd card as mass storage device.

new chargemon in the attachment. you can use data.img from the x8 custom rom and resized it. app2sd ready.
I prefer my way because this way i can still use my sd card as mass storage in windows while using the chargemon and data.img it is not possible.

hmm where must I put the app2sd.sh?? in the sdcard or...
/sdcard/app2sd2.1 mod (dalvik-cache to sd)/app2sd.sh?
thx
Hmm, something went wrong...
At night I tried your method. After App2SD setup I got 192mb free (internal memory) instead of 154, as it was before. I installed 3 applications adn the phone showed, that I still have 192mb free. In the morning I installed Skyfire and used iGO Amigo and after that I noticed, that amount of free memory is 166mb.
As I understand, the phone with App2SD mod don't use internal phone memory at all... However, mine phone still prefer internal one.
Edit: If I want to revert changes made by App2SD, I must choose "keep files from sdcard" or "load from backup"?

Same for me
Well in fact using my App2SD solution not the whole /data is moved to the ext2 partition. Only the dalvik-cache and app folders in /data are moved so some applications may still consume space in the internal memory. If you uninstall use the option to use teh fiels from the SD card. About the GPRS problems - i don't see how they can be related with app2sd. I do not see this problem with my phone. Are you trying my method or the new chargemon method?
Hey dudes,
Question: How can I get better performance?
1.) Chargemon mount app2sd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876868 or
2.) Dalvik cache app2sd http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880387 (this thread)
Now I'm using 1.) what about you?

I reflashed to 2.1 rooted put xrecovery on my phone backed up everything enabled jit replaced the backup after jit was working then enabled this app2sd script all works fine except wifi won't connect but if I restore back before I enabled this script wifi works fine......
I don't see how its affecting network connections but it somehow is....

I reflashed my phone using the clean rom this time.Installed xrecovery, jit and finally app2sd and my wifi is working fine. I am really surprised why it can affect the wireless.
Me too as last night before I put xrecovery and jit on I had no problems....
Gonna try again this time app2sd first...

Hey guys, i have partitioned my sdcard ext3 to ext4 then installing megatron rom to enable the darktremor app2sd. I did that, but why still get this "insufficient space storage" and i cant install any apps anymore.
The funny thing is that i check in both settings and app2sd app, my phone memory space available is 41.09mb but says insufficient storage?

in app manager u can move some of them to sd
and some app require a lot of free space so u can install them (specialy some games)
I have already move all my movable apps to my sd. But now if i try to install games from market it says "installation unsuccesful" and in the market it says "insufficient storage". But its funny my phone memory available is 30mb but why it says not enough memory???
So i have to uninstall some apps that saved in phone memory to free some space and install a new apps which i dont want to do. Please help.
Or maybe pls teach me the correct way step by step to partitioned my sd card and to enabled the darktremor apps2sd. I just want to install as many apps i want without worrying about insufficeint space storage. Please... i want to be a happy androidians

The partitioning depends on the rom you-re using. But probably you'll need around 512 Mb of ext partition, i recommend ext2 if youre using stock rom, or ext4 if going on Void/Megatron. And 0 swap. That's kinda all you need. Just install a2sd app, or make the a2sd folder in void/settings and reboot (if you're on void).
Take care of what apps you move on the SD, as important and often used apps behave better on the phone memory. So do not move apps with widgets, background running apps.
PS Try a full wipe from recovery and then reinstall Megatron/Void with a2sd
You could also try clearing the browser cache settings>applications>manage applications>all> scroll down to browser an tap clear cache. I have ~7mb browser cache size after about 10 minutes of internet browsing
After installing the script must run commands in Terminal emulator:
su(allow)
a2sd cachesd (phone reboot) - it will transfer the cache to SD
if use a2sd 2.7.5.3 after loading:
su
a2sd datasd (phone reboot) - it will transfer folder "data" to SD
check the status of:
su
a2sd check
Please please me teach me accurately STEP BY STEP.
Im using megatron rom, someone said darktremor app2sd already in the megatron rom but u need to partition thing first, i did that. But maybe i did a mistake? So please teach me again step by step whatever it takes even if i have to format/wipe my data and reinstall megatron rom or whatsoever. Thank you.
Waiting for reply

Tell me did i do any wrong to enabled the darktremor app2sd? Or maybe i missed something? Please help guys

What are the advantages and benefits of both of these options?
If I'm constantly switching ROMs what would be a better option in order not to install of restore every single app when the ROM is changed?

Hi,
1)Ext2,Ext3 are external partitions you create on your sd card in order to link or move apps from the phone and free up internal memory. This is the case for Eclair(2.1) or lower only.
2)Froyo onwards, there is a native apps2sd which would automatically be able to move apps to the FAT portion of your sd card which means there is now no need for any partitions to be created and not recommended either.
As you can now see, point 1 above is born out of necessity arising from the inadequacy in the older operating system!
Trust this clarifies.
...............do press the Thanks button if this helps...............
app2sd
hi i actualy use link2sd and works perfects for me i have fat32 part and i can move almost any app. not the system apps. i dont ever try apps2sd because i olnly use this app in all my roms i use. cheers
I agree with sathkartha, but would like to mention one advantage of installing an app on an Ext2 / 3 / 4 partition:
When mounting the SD card on a computer, only the FAT(32) partition is mounted on the computer. The Ext2 / 3 / 4 partitions remain mounted on the phone, allowing for running apps installed on such partitions while the FAT partition is mounted on the computer.
Thanks for the info guys, now as far as changing roms every time one is released, will the apps installed on the EXT partition remain as long as they are non permanent running apps or widgets, like games and/or apps.
I would also like to know, how can i relink and restore ext2 apps once i install a new rom?

I know I can move apps to SD, its an option by going to manage applications. What I want to know is how can I move all of my apps to ext to save even more internal memory. I'm currently on void forever. I'm not using ungazed or darktremor. I did download S2E from market but it only allows moving of downloading data. I don't want to run my entire phone off of SD just applications. Along time ago about 2 months ago I did set up a partition l. I forgot the specifics but currently I'm using a class 6 8gb card, so I know it was higher than 512mb

There is no way to move all the apps you want to sd in froyo without ungaze&co.
In cyanogenmod you can move every app you want to sd but apps with widgets will cause errors and other apps wich were not designed to be moved to sd will not run 100% correctly.
With ungaze, I flash the zip than what?

Flash the zip then your apps will be moved automatically to your ext partition.
But there's a catch: in time it is possible to damage your sd card because the apps will run directly from the sd wich is not really designed for too much r&w.
Appreciate the help

Errr.. You are confused.
1. S2E does move apps to the ext partition on CM7 based roms.
2. I suppose you want to use ungaze's data2sd based on your previous posts, A2SDGUI doesn't work with that.
3. Yes you require an ext2 partition. Simply use recovery, minitool or gparted.
link2sd is an amazing app I absolutely love it on my vm670 which has so little internal memory.
I need a little help i have a problem with Link2SD. I assign 500 mb to ext2 partition, and i have all my apps in the sd card, playstore, facebook and 2 others are linked. Well my problem is that, i have a notification for less space in internal storage :/ when i trying to install some new games ( well i have like 5 games installed already on the sd)... So why i have just 19% free space in internal storage if i have all my apps in sd? PD : see the image and sorry my bad english

I've been having a similar problem to the OP. Am I right in thinking you move ALL applications to internal storage, even the ones that install to SD card by default and then link them?
I guess there's a problem with your rom or kernel. Who knows

But is this the way to do it? Make sure user apps are are on PHONE before linking?
I'm using LinkSD and it saves me a lot of space in /data.
The way it works :
When installed, an app has three or four parts : the .apk file, the .dex file (in a deodexed ROM), the data folder and, eventually, one or more .so in /data/data/app_folder/lib
- If the app is in internal storage, every parts of it are in /data : .apk in /data/app, .dex in /data/dalvik-cache, data folder and libs in /data/data/name_of_the_app folder
- When the application is moved to sd Card, the .apk file is moved in /mnt/asec/, but the .dex and the data folder remains in internal storage (some applications may also have data in SD Card)
- When the application is linked, the .app, the .dex and the .so files are moved to /data/sdext2 (which is the place where the 2nd partition of the SD Card is mounted), only the data folder (without libs) remains in /data/data (internal storage).
So, the best way to save place in internal storage is to link user applications (no need to move it to internal storage first, it also works when the application is in SD Card).
All my 50 user apps are linked, and I still have 85 Mb free in /data.
