i made a new rom from kitchen. First i tried to flash it with only root and busybox and it worked. After that i tried to deodex the app and framework files and then i flashed it. It installed successfully but m stuck on the start screen. It shows "Samsung Galaxy Y gt-s5360" this is the screen which comes before the bootanimation screen. Its stuck on it for the past half an hour!!
Go to downloading mode and flash a cwr with odin then flash a good NONCOOKED by YOU rom!!!
Press thanks if I was of any help!...

It could be that you didn't wipe. But did you use cwr? I would say it was a bad flash is all.

Btw prince that is not a very nice post. Everyone starts somewhere, and optimizing stock roms is a great way to maintain stability.

It's possible, even probable, that he rooted from a galaxys2root.com tutorial, in which case he does not have CWM Recovery. Does the recovery say 3e Recovery at the top?
It is a i777. And i have to chek the cwm.
Its not mine tho

if you never loaded a custom kernel on it that had CWM baked in, you DO NOT Have CWM recovery...and ROM MAnager doesnt work, no matter how hard you press the button

Not to mention that a search of this would have easily led him to an answer without the need to start another thread of this oft-covered subject.
Hi all,
I am fairly new to android. Now running the latest version of ICS for global version of Xperia S.
Wanted to root and install Cyanogen..
Here's what I did.
Unlocked bootloader the official way. (worked)
Used Flashtool to flash CWM img (the one that is used for xperia s)
Now the phone is stuck in CWM bootloop. There is no way it would boot in normal mode.
I am desperate here. Is there anyway to revert it back? Anything at all? Half panicking.
Any help would be appreciated.. Please help.
Hold the volume up and power button until it vibrates 3 times, then it's off. Flash a stock rom with flashtool and start again

Thank you. How do I flash a stock ROM? And where can I find a link? I have flashtool with me...
Can anyone help? I got the stock rom from a website and added it to flashtool firmware list...
The next prompt is to start the phone holding the back key.. but it still boots to CWM...
what to do now?
Use volume down key while plugging in and thats all, not back key. FlashTool was originally for the X10i which uses the back key. Make sure you've powered off properly with the 3 vibrates first too
Oh and stock roms are all here - http://www.xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Sony+(Ericsson)/SE+Xperia+S+(LT26i)/

Figured it out!! Thanks!! Back on stock rom.. I flashed the CZ one which was the only one available. I live in India. Would that be of any issue??
Btw, how do I flash Custom Firmware now? Install recovery and flash? Any links?
Just fastboot a custom kernel like xsspeed v7 and stick with the 2.50 firmware in my opinion

No.
Nope, just follow the fastboot guides on the sticky in the development section. It's very easy to do

So... everytime i flash a new Rom a folder is created within my SDCARD/0/0/0 ... ive read some posts about it that it has something to do with the cwm recovery .. so i need help which is the best recovery i can install with the S3 now adays that will help me get rid of this problem...!!
is it ok if i delete these folders directly?

Try twrp recovery..better than cwm imho..

First rule of XDA.

I don't think it's a problem with cwm, it's probably related to 4.2.1.

Not unless someone made an update.zip of their recovery -try using the search facility instead of demanding a reply.

To much hard work for most users stock recovery is not something that is separate .
Borrow a PC and flash stock rom .
If you have nandroid then stock will not restore it .

Have a look at this post, Philz recovery has a flushable zip version in the download links, read the thread see if its what you want.
Removed the link as you need CWM recovery installed which you don't have

Yes, needs CWM doesn't it, forgot that, would you remove the link from the quoted post, don't want to confuse him.
Can't concentrate tonight, going to the pub instead.
