Solved by LGNPSTing to 11c, rooting, and then getting the OTA.

g33k3r has 20j (4.1.2 JB) on his thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219953
I believe I saw a 11c tot file in that thread as well. But might as well do JB as the same root exploit works.

What method do I use to root it? I tried the universal found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103, but I keep getting permission denied.

0.00B. I suppose this is my problem?

I have this same issue. I have tried doing what you instructed (lgnpst to 11c, and software update to jelly bean) but my storage is still corrupted and I can not root.

Yeah, it is showing the same thing for me (and I obviously have the same root problem still). I'm on IRC now, maybe someone will figure it out.

Both of you guys, what did you do exactly before hand? For me:
- Nexus 4 conversion
- 16GB storage fix
Maybe the 16GB fix has something to do with this? I'm not sure.

I did the 16GB fix. I never could get any of the N4 stuff to work, so I gave up, and LGNPST back to the JB update.

I think you guys need to do the camera fix to get your partitions straight.

Yep LGNPST back to ics root/unlock and do the camera fix then come back to stock JB and you'll be good. I had to do it this morning

Sounds promising. Cdudeman on IRC is testing it now.
EDIT: cdudeman had success!
Shelnutt also told me to flash 10o, and wipe /data with TWRP installed, then do the camera fix. Then all should be good for JB.

I am fixed now. I had to lgnpst to 11c, run camera partition fix and update via ota

No worky
I must be doing something wrong, because i've LGNPSTd back to 10o and 11c around 10 times now, rooted, unlocked, and then rebooted into TWRP to run the camera partitions fix (i've also tried the partitions fix while booted into the OS, but I get errors that either some or all of the partitions are in use). In checking the folders for contents, the /drm folder doesn't exist, the persist-lg folder only contains sub-folders, and does not appear to contain any files, and the /sns has one subdirectory with one file in it. I've assumed that it's just because the directories have not been populated yet and will be after the upgrade, so I continue on with the next step of LGNPST-ing up to 20j, but once that's done, my internal memory in storage still shows 0.00 bytes free. I also downloaded the OTA update, but did not run the partition fix that time, and the OTA did not fix the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'm having this same exact issue. Has anyone figured out how to fix it? Or at least, another way to reset the partitions so that the internal storage on JB isn't 0.00B? I enjoyed the N4 Conversion while I had it, but now I really want to switch back.

I FIXED IT!! YES! (Can you tell I'm excited?) Here is my fix. After trying to do the camera fix to solve my internal storage problem on Jelly Bean, I switched my phone back to a N4 by flashing it through LGNPST. I then rooted it and installed a custom recovery with a Nexus 4 toolbox program. After that, I ran these commands in recovery (thanks to dvhexers N4 Conversion Thread):
Code:
# /dd if=/external_sd/sgpt8G.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=512 seek=30777311 conv=notrunc
Code:
# /dd if=/external_sd/pgpt8G.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=512 seek=0 conv=notrunc
This resets your partitions from 16GB back to 8GB on the N4 Rom. Once I did that, I flashed back to Stock ICS, rooted/unlocked it, booted into recovery, ran the camera fix, and then flashed to JB and then my internal storage was back!
In short, I just converted my phone back to a Nexus 4, reverted it from 16GB to 8GB, did the camera fix, and flashed back to the stock LG Optimus G ROM with LGNPST.

Debloating GNote!

Hello all,
I've rooted my GNote and tried to get rid of some useless apps, since updating to official ICS made it unbarebly slow and a lot laggy. I used Titanuim Backup to remove some apps and it reboots without deleting any, also it sucks even if it works cuz it needs to reboot everytime u wana remove an app!!!
Is there any alternatives I can try that don't require rebooting?
JIC: I will flash it with a custom debloated, deodexed ROM, but not right now as i need to do a few backups. but for the time being i need something to get by.
Thanks.
Something is not right there. When I used TiBu to uninstall system apps (debloat a factory rom) apps I had no problems ans didn't have to reboot svery time. Just did this again a couple days ago removing a few apps from fj's rom.
Check your settings in tibu and double check if unknown sources and usb debugging are on. Then recheck root, that is my suggestions.
No point in worrying. Flashing any one of our devs roms will give you a better experience than the OTA. Download rom manager and use it to install cwm. Place the rom on the SD card and reboot into recovery. First create a backup then wipe system, cache and dalvik three times and flash the zip. Depending on the rom you may need to flash gapps after system install. Done. No bloat plus lots of optimizations and goodies.

I have seen a lot of complaints of lagginess from people who updated OTA.
I updated via Odin with an ICS image from samfirmware and never had a problem.
Debloating after that made a bit of a difference too but not the kind of difference you'd see with flashing an AOSP variant.

I am interested in the "BLACK★STAR V UCLF6" ROM, seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. However, I downloaded the zip file so i can flash it later but I think the link is wrong, cuz the "custom rom creature" keeps indicating that the ROM has an invalid format!!
If you got a link to download the BLACK★STAR V UCLF6, please paste it on here. Thanks

Thank you sir.
I have CWM flashed already so what are the next steps? (this is my first time flashing a custom ROM)
btw, by "pc" do you mean a desktop computer or "windows OS"? (there is a lot confusion going on out there.)
and no I don't use my GNote to download anything other than apps from "Google Play".
I did a wipe before installing the update through Kies, and I'm pretty happy with the stock rom. I think Samsung needs to find a way to add a full backup and restore to Kies and just perform a wipe as it upgrades. Shouldn't be too hard, Titanium already does it (mostly).
I had this problem too.
Don't long press the app to uninstall it. Just click it and the window to backup or uninstall will pop up.

Took me a few tries to get that working, between lags and freezes!! this official ICS is garbage.
thanks for the tip (I just punched your [thank you] button :good.

Titanium Backup 5.6.0 Pro brings ADB backup restore!

So even though I have been s-off since the Panda hit the scene, I think those that have yet to unlock/root might REALLY like to know this.
Basically you can create a back up using ADB on your NON-ROOTED device. Unlock/Root (which we all know will require a factory reset when using HTCDev Unlock) and then with your freshly rooted device, you can restore from the ADB backup you create.
I haven't tried this out yet (just got the update and attached change log) but might try it out just to see. Lucky for me all the devices I support have been Panda *certified but this will be real handy if I have to deal with a un-s-off-able device.

Cool - I wish this had been in the program a few months ago when I did the unlock.
I did the ADB backup/restore manually but this would be a lot easier.

Yeah man, the FIRST and only app I "require" someone purchase if I'm working on a phone is TB. If you never buy another app, TB is the single best investment you can make if you are rooting your phone and this just add more "goodness" to the pile. :good::good:

I was gonna say the same. I noticed one day that TiBu wasn't being granted SU just out of nowhere. I emailed Joel, he emailed me back in less than an hour with exactly the fix. (I think it was 'force system busybox' from TI settings). Guy is awesome.
I'm not sure how you perform adb backup. Would be curious to know.

I recently bought the pro version of this app strictly for this feature. Thus far, I have been unable to get it to work. I've tried two different .ab files both of which have been successfully restored from using UBT. Any suggestions or ideas why TB pro would say the .ab files are invalid?
Thanks!
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Is your backup file password protected (encrypted) or not?
Also please do (on the device or in a unix shell):
busybox head -n4 MyBackupFile.ab
and please post the result...

Another reason this app is the $hit! The dev of this essential app checking boards and popping in to help directly.
I'm about to try this out on a new white EVO LTE so we'll see how easy this goes.
Great news. Would be even greater if we could do it direct to a computer?
Maybe possible by mounting a network share? Would need to find a way to check the backup has worked though.
Or maybe this can be done with adb pull?
My phone went into boot-loop a week or so ago and this feature of TiB saved the day. I could not boot the normal OS to make a backup and had no recent backup. Reflashing my rom and wiping cache & dalvik made no difference. But I made a nandroid from TWRP, factory reset, then was able to restore my txt's from the nandroid using TiB (dialer storage) all right on the device while out to dinner. Damned nice.

Ironically, I'd been using the free version of TB for quite a while... but recently bought Pro because I found it to be so useful...
Did anyone fix the AB issue in titanium backup?
When trying to use this feature, tianium backup is not letting me select the .ab file. The file appears greyed out.
The backup file is encrypted.
I ran "busybox head -n4" on my .ab file and got the following -
ANDROID BACKUP
4
1
AES-256
Any ideas?
Edit: I managed to force select the file using another file manager only to be greeted by a message from titanium backup stating the backup file is either invalid or unsupported.

Does this mean it's somehow possible to backup directly to a PC via USB, instead of backing up to an SD? I have destroyed 2-3 SD so far by heating them up to much while doing long backup/restore

[SOLVED] Write only access to internal/external sdcard on kitkat, for root needed apps

I am using a mt6582m device with kitkat 4.4.2 with supersu.
I can use root to write to system, data and cache using es file explorer, can also read and write to any sd card, but apps like titanium backup, online android backup, ram expander can't read/write to sd card.
Eg.1: ti backup read backups, can do all operation except backup and restore.
I had read a lot, changing backup path didn't helped nor any odex file is there. Using v6.1.5.6.
Eg. 2: ram expander can create swap file on sd but can read it saying 'not found'. Swap can be used with cache partition.
Eg. 3: online nandroid backup says pat not vaild.
I had tried, sd fix app, manually editing platform.xml, xposed module to 'handel external storage', change permissions using es file explorer, editing ramdisk.
There is storage/sdcard0 and 1
Also mnt/sdcard and mnt/sdcard2 (symlinked)
Also mnt/media_rw/sdcard0 and 1 (not readable even in es file explorer)
What should i do to fix this issue? Please help.

Kinguser has fixed all the problems. Now I can use luckypatcher. it works. I just replaced the superuser app without rooting again. I uninstalled supersu, reboot, then install kinguser. And voila!!!.
Thnx again.

[Guide][Re-partiton][1.9GB_extra_space][Flashable zip]

Update : Working on T889(T-Mobile) & AT&T GalaxyNote2 too.
Based on @ninekaw9 's original script from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52989641
I ported this for the N7105.
Please read the post fully before trying this.
This file basically reduces the space assigned to cache and preload partitions and reassigns that extra space to your internal sdcard.
What is preload?
Used for storing Samsung's pre-loaded bloatwares like some wallpapers and "Wonders of Nature" video that you find on your phone after a factory reset or after buying a new phone.
Reducing the cache partition:
Cache basically stores the apps from Google play while they are downloading and the rest of it is used for storing OTA updates.
The OTA updates from Samsung and big in size and hence cache has 1GB of size to store those big updates.
So basically I reduced the cache size from 1GB to 100mb because Kitkat is the last update for Note2 afaik and the phone would be out of OTA service after Kitkat.
Won't reducing cache size break some other things?
No. It won't. As I have still kept 100mb in the cache that would be fine for playstore downloads.
Can I return to stock partition size after doing this?
Yes. Find the .pit file for your device and flash stock firmware through odin alongwith the pit file.
Here is the pit file just in case if you want to go back to stock partition size. Stock_PIT_N7105
What you need to have to Re-partiton
Philz recovery installed (latest version)for t0lte device.
Note that TWRP WONT WORK as it doesn't have some binaries for partitioning.
Nandroid backup or a rom zip file in your external sdcard is a must.
Backup your internal sdcard as it will be formatted in the process.
Procedure :
1.Boot into philz recovery
2.Flash the file which is linked here.
Partition_N7105_16GB_model_only
After flashing the recovery will automatically reboot.
3.Next you will see some mounting errors. Don't worry. Just go to mounts and storage and do this
Format /data
Format /system
Format /sdcard0
Format /preload
Please don't format /boot /modem or /sdcard1.
4. So after formatting it's all done. Now you can restore nandroid or flash a new rom.
5. If you are having issue restoring your nandroid backup then read this post and do exactly what he says
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53207492
Note: You can still flash bootloaders and modems from odin after doing this re-partioning. No need to flash with pit file.
However if you want to flash a full rom from odin then pit file is required.
All credits to @ninekaw9 and @forumber2 for their original scripts. You guys are awesome ?

Would this be safe on the T889?
I know kernels for N7105 are ok on it, would love the extra space. Not sure if the partition alignments are the same between though.

Restoring a backup from TWRP with Philz and vice versa, they usually don't play nice. I'm going to flash TWRP back after doing the partition and see if the nandroid I make works. Have you got a Rom up and running now?

Hmm okay. Well the good news is you have a Rom up and running. Just can't restore your old nandroid. Good to know.
I might do the whole thing, set up a new Rom, Nandroid that, wipe everything clean in recovery, then try restore the nandroid and see what happens.

If restoring nandroid doesn't work for you guys then you should try nandroid manager app from playstore. It lets you restore the stuff you want from your nandroid backup.
And do remember to format partitons manually after running the script. Format them from philz itself. Otherwise they won't mount.

BTW nandroids that I can't restore are only made on external SD card. Nandroid made on the phone itself work perfectly. Wonders is that help.

[Q] Z2 Internal Memory (Pictures Lost AGAIN) Don't buy a Z2 with Locked Bootloader

I have had it I have deleted all my photos AGAIN!!! I can't seem to see why KitKat made the Ext-SD Read Only : (ie photos in the internal memory) : WHY can't we access the internal memory from any of the recoveries and with all the other problems associated with the LB that we are all familiar with this is a really bad phone to root.
How did this happen ?
I downloaded a new ROM, made sure my phone had them both the ROM and the Dual Recovery flashable file on the SD and rebooted to TWRP. I then wiped out my everything but external and internal SD. After doing this I went to flash the ROM but couldn't find it (I know it was there but buried in one of the million sub directories.) Next I was interrupted at the door by my boss, we got to talking and I realized that my screen was off. When I returned the phone was in fact dead. #$#@ I screamed out loud because I knew what this meant. Despite my knowledge of how this operates I knew from experience loosing all my wedding photos that this wasn't going to go over well (read my previous thread of lost wedding photos).
Why even recommend rooting to anyone with a locked boot loader after all this is a phone people buy to use the camera. The photos are forced by default to internal memory and internal memory is extremely volatile on this phone
HAS ANYONE OUT THERE been able to get the data back I simply have no system/recovery partition now ?! Surely SOMEONE out there knows of a way to .ftf a system partition only so I can access my internal memory as the data partition is still fully intact..
If not I wont be surprised as this LB phone (camera) is a total disaster for me and I am regretting getting it in the first place... It's a real mess with these glitches ..

If you got proper root you're always able to backup. It's just your fault you lost your data.
If it's just system that's gone you haven't lost any actual data yet, get the ftf for the firmware you were using, flash it in flashtool with everything but system /kernel checked. That way it doesn't wipe data etc. I'm not at my computer so can't be exact but you get the picture just restoring system via flashtool should do the trick
Also if you use xposed there's a module to enable handling of external storage, that and setting pics to save to external memory card should avoid you ever having this issue again. There's also an app called folder mount that can be used to ghost internal directories to the external card too hth
Oh also, I may be wrong but if you were using philz if you let the screen go dark while your running something it stays dark till it's finished then a quick press of the power button wakes it back up, you should of waited a little longer if that was the issue

No worries pal, glad you got it sorted I'd be just the same if I thought I'd lost data that was important to me
Plus, why the hell are you not using google+ to backup your photos ?
Personally I use My PhoneExplorer to back my phone up and synchronise with my pc. It wil also back up all your photos to a folder in the My Pictures directory, sync your calendar and even make basic data backups. Been using it for years now, ever since I had a Sony Ericsson K700 phone
This is just a suggestion if you are also a bit paranoid in storing all your stuff on google.

But you know that even without any rooting there is an option inside the camera app where to store pictures? You can choose ext. SD Card there. In my opinion it's not hard to find and due to your last disaster it's your fault not checking this. Since there are options to keep pictures on SD Card in fact you shouldn't blame the phone nor Sony.

Kind of short sighted and pretentious to think we would all see things exactly the same. Personally Google isn't the "answer" to all my problems. Secondly I have had numerous smart phones as most of us have and this Xperia although I love it I have to dance around the volatile situation it poses to have 4.4 limitations which requires root to be able to in order to write to SD (?!). Kinda weird if you ask me and this is just one more thing to setup and calibrate so between roms it is easily overlooked. As I don't actually use social networking all that much and I have such large photos among many other things. I am thinking of other ways to automate this in the future. I am looking for a more set it and forget it method and if I could persist this between roms so be it.
I would like to know who keeps everything they own online aswell today... I mean why do companies use a VPN for data archive ... when they can just sync EVERYTHING to the cloud ?
I ponder politics

You should not flash ROMs in locked BL even if you have a recovery and root that doesn't mean it will flash a ROM.
