[Q] freegee - AT&T LG Optimus G

Is freegee working for the jellybean update on some other fourms some ppl are saying its bricking there phones. I finally rooted and want to start working with roms.

It works fine, use the play store version. People who soft brick mostly have been using the 0.5 windows version.

The play store version works flawlessly.

Ensure you wait a while for scripts to finish when unlocking, well after the popup saying "yay". I almost did not.

how long does it take to say "yay" its been 5 mins or so and it has yet to say that

Instructions: open up freegee and click on unlock my optimus g. you will get a warning that this could fail because this trick for jelly bean messes with your SBL and that's also where your download mode is. so this is the part where you take the risk. if you have no download mode you have a paper weight. once you click continue you have to give it root permissions. let it go through it's process of downloading everything and unlocking. when you see the "yay. your optimus g is unlocked" sign, do not close freegee. if you notice it is still doing its thing. let all the root permissions that you see at the bottom, finish. when they are done then close freegee.
what is "download mode" is a custom setting? i got my device rooted but im now trying to unlock it....someone please explain this before i hard brick my phone....i DO NOT have a backup phone in case anything happens ...

If you haven't seen the prompt that says "Yay!" through freegee on your phone, it was unsuccessful. Are you sure you are rooted? Try again perhaps.

With your phone powered off, you're able to get to download mode via holding your volume keys with the power button. Release the power button when your screen lights up. You'll know if you've made it to download mode or not because your screen will tell you. To power your phone back off, hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
If you haven't messed up your phone in earlier cases, you're most likely safe and will not have to test for download mode.

You don't "get" download mode. Its on your phone already, its not a custom feature. Try the method above.

Short: FreeGee seems to be stopping after uploading backups to DropBox. Any advice?
Long: I was rooted and unlocked with FreeGee on ICS. Re-locked and got OTA's up to Jelly Bean. Phone kept root. Trying to unlock using latest version of FreeGee from PlayStore. Enabled SBL unlock method and dropbox syncing. FreeGee runs with root toasts popping up but after backups upload nothing happens. No bricking just no unlock.
Thanks.

You should be unlocked. I've fixed the logic issue in the code which wehn using dropbox plus sbl unlock it would not show the success screen. The playstore should push the update soon.

Can you relock with freegee? I want to relock my bootloader to be able to install the update from att

Unless you are stock including bloat, relocking with FreeGee will probably give security error soft brick. If you want stock JB you could use lgnpst with the 20j tot. file, or use the teenybin if you want to go to 4.2 ROMs.

For any users on OS X rather than windows, Fastboot for OS X can be found developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
"fastboot.exe" will need to be replaced with "fastboot-mac" in terminal
There is no need to download the SE driver mentioned on SE developer page.
What will unlocking the bootloader do?
Its not root, is it?
It will allow for the phone to be flashed with unsigned images. This basically means You get root (as long as somebody makes a firmware image with root access).
If this is "basically root", does it means it allows for uninstalling stock apps if the bootloader is unlocked?

it isnt root it mearly enables the ability to get root via flashnig a new firmware and other means that are not yet available on our devices.
IT will take some development to get it working ive tried a few thigns but had no success yet, ive sent a pm to the flashtool creator to try to get him to include the play then we can dump and add root then flashback
What are the chances of cyanogen mod coming to the PLAY? Hope it does!

Device needs to be powered off, hold the search button when connecting it to USB cable. (blue light will come and stay on - power/sleep button)
This is weird, I have a Canadian xperia play but i can't press the search button to get a blue light. I can press the back button to get a green light but the drivers you provided doesn't work with this xperia play. I cant even connect to fastboot Mac or windows
EDIT: Is there anyway I can help, provide files and such? I did win this xperia play in a contest, so I do wanna know if i can unlock the bootloader.

When the handset is switched off, connect it to the USB cable while you're holding the search button. That will put the handset in the correct mode (Blue Light)
works every time on my Play.
Step 9 will let you know if you can unlock the bootloader

Even a SIM locked device should get to step 9 where you check if you have a bootloader that can be unlocked. All handsets WILL be able to go into the fastboot mode as its used to connect the handset to EMMA (not tried SEUS yet but guess its the same)
maybe just a faulty handset?

Like I said when I hold the search button it does nothing. My phone is off, I hold the search button while plugging it (both a mac and a windows to make sure) and both times I get the sony ericsson logo then the battery status. I asked about the back button bc maybe the phones in north america are different and that would be the fastboot mode since that's the only one that worked(lighted up I mean).
Are you sure you're not holding down the search button for to long? holding down the search button is also a way to turn your phone on.

Search button works when android phone is on but! when its off it does nothing. It can't turn on the phone or boot into fastboot mode. I have a feeling even if you bought a non contract phone(in north america) it's gonna be locked

Can't get into downloading mode

I had rooted my Tab and put CWM recovery on it. But then the TouchWiz update wasn't installing, so I unroot by flashing the OTA, then used Odin to go back to stock recovery. Now I can't even get into downloading mode. I hold the power and Vol down, it pops up for a split second, then goes away and reboots. Anybody got any suggestions?

[Q] Galaxy Exhibit 4G ROM

Hello all, I'm very new at rooting so bear with me please!
I've been trying to follow the instructions to boot my phone into stock recovery in order to flash clockworkmod for the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G. One of the steps is to reboot the phone into "stock recovery" by holding the volume up and power buttons at the same time. My phone will simply continuously restart itself while the power button is held. There is no screen that appears where I can click the button for updating my sd card to install the clockworkmod software, though this is what all the forums are telling me to do in order to boot into stock recovery. I've tried several times, and my phone always just restarts as if I'm not trying to do anything fancy, just goes right to my main screen with no changes. Help please?

I believe the problem your having is that your holding the power button too long. You only need to hold the volume up and power buttons until you see tiny blue or other tiny text in the upper left hand corner of the screen saying the phone is entering recovery mode. This should take you into the stock recovery. Let me know if you still have questions .

Yeah I gave it a shot. When the phone restarts, the first thing on the screen is the Exhibit 4G logo, there's never any tiny text in a corner or anything like that :/
Even if I only hold the buttons briefly, the phone either turns all the way on to my main screen, or doesn't turn on at all if I don't hold the buttons long enough. I really wanna get into ROMing after seeing how great rooted phone apps were. I'm not sure what's blocking my phone from getting into the stock recovery.

I found some posts in the forums on my phone's model number. (SGH T759) Further research indicates there may be no clockworkmod recovery available for this device. A combination of various root apps have made this phone a powerhorse, so it's a shame there were no further developments for this phone in particular. I appreciate your effort to aid my case. Make sure your device is completely off
Key(s): Volume Down
While holding this key down simultaneously press the Power button until you see a disclaimer on the screen
Then let go of both buttons and press Volume Up to accept the disclaimer
Once the green robot is visible on the screen this indicates that handset is in now ODIN/Download mode

IMO, If you don't know what ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) is, you really shouldn't be messing with your phone. I highly recommend you Google or search for information and instructions of what it is, and how to use it before going any further.

The first step of modifying your phone is to read directions carefully and actually understand them. Don't let go of the keys as soon as it vibrates. Wait until the download mode disclaimer comes up on your screen.

[Q] HELP! I think i hard bricked my S4

Anyone's help would be FANTASTIC!
I downloaded and installed LiquidSmooth 2.6.5 on 06/15/13 wiped everything necessary, went to reboot and it said i wasnt rooted would i like to install SuperSU, i installed it and it rebooted to a black screen and wont go any further. all it does is vibrate every couple of seconds. Is there ANYTHING i can do to get back into TWRP recovery? stock recovery? flash the stock image with Odin? it wont boot into TWRP, or download mode.
Please help, might have bricked my hard earned Verizon S4
Hi,
I've recently just installed the TeamWin Recovery Project.
my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 has been rooted, and I even checked with some application on the Google Play market, and it has indicated that it indeed was rooted.
But I still kept on getting the annoying "some application need attention blah blah blah..." in the notification bar, and when I click it it gave me options reboot now or reboot later.
Of course I clicked "reboot now" and after a while, I messed up on my cyananogen mod I guess and I recovered using TWRP through a back up that I have already made prior to flashing the CM 10.1. And it was working normally.
Then I some how went to the TWRP again and it said that my phone wasn't rooted any longer! So I swiped the "root the device now" knob thing and ever since then it has been stuck in the "samsung" screen with the unlocked labeled as "custom" underneath.
Even if I try to do Volume Up + Power + Home button it doesn't send me back to the TWRP screen, rather I see the indication that TWRP has been initiated, but it just crashes and turns my phone off.
When I do Volume down + Power + Home button I can get to the Download mode, but it doesn't seem like my computer can recognize the device.
After the Download page and I push the Volume Up button for the actual download mode on the top left it says
Odin Mode
Product name: SCH-I545
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
CSB-OEM_Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enable"
Click to collapse
And when I do get to this point my computer does recognize the phone and I know this by hearing the usb connection sound that a computer makes.
How do I get my phone back to factory state so that I can maybe once again trying rooting it again?
Thanks in advance.
and I apologize for so much information even if the rules say that I should be brief as possible, but it felt like the details were needed. (correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm having the exact same issue. Just rooted today and then using CWM I formatted and installed liquidsmooth. After rebooting it just vibrates. I tried going into Odin by pressing volume down+up+home+power and it just vibrates. Have I ruined the phone?

I can't get into the download/odin screen. When I press power + home + volume down it just vibrates.
I don't understand how I could have hard-bricked the phone just by formatting.
Just before rebooting, CWM prompted me "saying root access might be lost" and I hit ignore.

Boot phone into ODIN mode (power off the phone, then press and hold Vol Down + Power then press Vol Up). I think you might have done it wrong.

Thanks DarkMenace. I was able to restore my phone. For some weird reason it refused to go in Odin mode if I didn't have a USB cable plugged in.
I used the stock image, just wondering if I'm still rooted?

If you use a Stock Image you lose root and have to do it gain.

I have the same issue after flashing Liquid-JB-v2.5-OFFICIAL-d2vzw yesterday 6/19/13. Wiped everything, factory reset, hit reboot, it said my device appeared not to be rooted and asked if i would like to install SuperSU. I said yes to install it. When my device rebooted, I got a black screen and my phone won't go any further. It just vibrates, every 2 or 3 seconds. I can get it into download mode. I tried to flash the stock firmware back onto it but when it reboots after, it goes back to black screen and vibrate. Thanks.

Just curious on something.... Not trying to be a jerk. Why are you sending pm's instead of replying in the thread? If your pm is helping this person I'm sure it could help many people if it was in the thread. Unless your a Verizon employee with secret unbricking files or something

Responded to you via PM as to not start any issues here.
I am in a similar situation, I am able to get into Odin mode, though my model number is SCG-I545 if that makes a difference.
