I'm using ICS PASSION and the kernel that cones with it. Can you link me to the data fix link?

Read here and here and then choose which is best for you.
This is an old issue with Passion and had been discussed in that thread many months ago. I am sure if you searched the thread, the answer would have *eventually* pooped up but with that many posts, it would take all day to do so.
That being said, Passion is extremely outdated (still 4.0.3) and I suggest upgrading to a different ROM (4.0.4 variant). There was vast improvements from Google with the newer version, plus Passion isn't really supported anymore.

Thank you. Just a side question, if I were to move from Passion to a 4.0.4 ROM such as ICZen, would all my info get deleted? Or does that only happen if I was to upgrade specific Passion updates if I have that ROM already?
EDIT: I just realized you linked me to the I9000 section. I have the Vibrant.

Yes and no. You can preserve you app data, browser links, SMS/MMS, Launcher Setting,...through Titanium Backup and then restore the DATA part later. I capped that so as to warn you not to restore the /system/apk (only restore the data on the Green highlighted /system/apps in TBPro).
Yes I did link you to the I9000 section bc those are what you want. All it is is a script that converts your /data/data to /datadata. AKAIK, all the newr ICS ROMs already do this, hence why I suggested you get out of the outdated ROM. ICZen does this on install already btw>
Thanks.
And to confirm, I would only have to install the ICZen ROM right? It states that the subzero kernel is included. ( I saw your name on there, so I thought I'd ask)
Yes it is included. Install instructions are similar to most every other ICS ROM out there except for the additional WIPE.
Steps
-Download ICZen and place it on your internal sd
-Reboot to Clockwork Recovery
-Perform a wipedata/factory reset
-Go to mounts and storage and format the system partition
-Flash your downloaded ICZ rom file
-From the main menu of recovery, perform a wipedata/factory reset again <--THIS IS THE SECOND WIPE I AM TALKING ABOUT
-Reboot
-On bootup, give it a few minutes to settle in, reboot and use as normal.
-Enjoy your ICZen!

i don't know if anybody is actually subscribed to this to know what im saying but ive started porting over NT7100 roms to vzw im about 85% done just got to figure out why the baseband wIll not flash correctly anybody that can help i would love it
1-25-13 UPDATE for anybody using a sprint rom you can ged rid of the hands free activation by going to system-->apps and rename SprintDM.apk to SprintDM.apk.bak
1-25-13 UPDATE AGAIN Okay ive been trying a lot of roms from a-z from every carrier and ive noticed something some roms wont go past boot or just restart now ive said do a full wipe that will usually work but if it does not try this install jelly beans build 6-7 your choice then install over it it has fixed a lot of the roms that will not boot for me so try this if you have one you want to use that will not boot
Okay anybody who has a 64gb micro ultra sd card class 10 thats wants to use fat 32 on it instead of ex fat here is a fun little program i used to do mine that way GUI FORMAT
THNAKS TO toskabab we now have a way to port roms without the patch and keep the tweaks if you would like a certain non international rom ported there is a way now. im no expert but check post #298 for his post very informative works every time im not like some people wont mention names but if you would like me to help you out step by step pm me and i will give you step by step instructions on how to do this
Okay you can use any rom from any carrier on you vzw note 2. Its very easy first off you will need to download any rom you wish. I will use the Jedi x rom for T-Mobile as an example you can download it JEDI X.You will also need the Verizon kernel. (if you want to use it its not required but can work better at times) VZW KERNEL .Also the Verzion modem file vVZW MODEM I have had great luck with the jb one but you can use whichever you like.
So to start off download all the files I have linked and put them on your external sd. After that you will want to boot into recovery I use twrp but you can also use cwm if you like. Now wipe both cache and dalvik cache, the system, and factory reset (unless there are system mods you need to keep) if so just wipe the cache files. Next install the rom you want (any rom from any u.s. carrier) once you do that you will need to also flash the modem file and the kernel file. (the kernel is optional but i do it just for good measures to make sure everything stays Verizon). After that you should be done reboot and enjoy the new rom you just installed and if you are using one from another carrier and you want the default vzw apps and widgets like the data widget here is another file you can flash threw recovery as well it also fixes any 4g issues you may have on other roms VZW PATCH
video is up PROOF VIDEO
METHOD 2 Credit to Clarkkent434
1. Flash superwipe ziphttp://db.tt/mOoP6cOU
2. Flash rom
3. Flash modem or kernel
4. Flash patch
5. Enjoy
Thought i might as well add this i am not resposible for anything you do to your phone nothing is flawless flashing is done at your own risk but if you like my work give me thanks

I'm curious about something regarding the newer ROMs in the dev forum. Why do so many of the newer ROMs coming out insist that you have to be on the JB OTA before flashing? I'm familiar with flashing on other phones where you just wipe and flash, and move on with life. Does this have to do with the radio/modem? And if that's the case, could you not just flash the ROM and then a modem? I'm just trying to get some clarification stemming from genuine confusion.
Not really sure but could it maybe have something to do with the trust/compatibility deal thing?? Idk I was wondering the same question in op. By no means is this the answer I was just throwing this out there. Hopefully someone can shed some light.

No, that link did clear it up. Not sure how I missed it before, but whatever. Seems to be a security feature for the newer ROMs, if I read that post correctly.
Its not just a security feature, but that's the gist of it. Adam Outler explains it http://www.xda-developers.com/android/trustzone-a-dimension-of-multiple-worlds/ .

No, its the tz partition that is only changed throught the OTA/LGNSPTing that is needed. I'm not quite sure of all the specifics, but this tz partition is what you need to flash these new roms.
Excellent explanation, much thanks. Quick follow up question now... Once the OTA update is done, is that more or less permanent for the purposes of ROM flashing? In other words, does the phone have to be put back to stock every time I want to change ROMs?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
You only need to do it would once. Once the tz is put in place it stays, unless you lgnpst to the n4 conversion or to ICS. Flashing a ROM in recovery won't change it.
Beautiful. That's what I figured, but better to ask before bricking my phone. Thanks again.

Standard "I'm not a developer but..." disclaimer here. You can either revert to the stock ICS build and get the OTA update, then re-root/unlock, or I seem to remember a flashable stock 4.1.2 zip file in the development section that is supposed to take care of the TZ stuff to let you move on with life.
Feel free to correct me if that's not good information, though.

I already lngpost-ed to the 4.1.2 and then rooted and then flashed one of these newer roms. My question is really can I go from one of these roms to another without going back to the stock 4.1.2 and rooting again?
That is my understanding. Once you have the TrustZone partition set up from the stock JB, it's there and you don't have to mess with it again. Unless you do something that kills it, like go back to an ICS rom.

Good question OP, I was wondering the same thing and this LGNPST thing is confusing.
So, I am currently running SnowJB (which I believe is 4.1.2?)
Do I need to do the LGPNST in order to install these newer ROMs, such as Vanilla Rootbox? Or am I all set to go ahead and flash new ROM?
To anyone confused, ask yourself...
Did you receive the 4.1.2 (JB) update over the air OR did you use lgnpst to flash to 4.1.2?
If yes, then you can begin flashing as usual without having to lgnpst every time you change ROMs.
If you haven't used one of these methods then you need to do one first before flashing the new ROMs.
Simple as that.

I've spent the weekend trying to make a safestrap rom out the newest update from T-mobile. As far as I can tell everything is working the particular steps I did were
Disabled Wi-Fi in stock ROM before flashing
I'm not sure if this does anything but someone suggested this for fixing wifi not always coming up. I'm not sure if it matters but if you don't disable WiFi in the stock slot and WiFi in the SafeStrap slot doesn't work then mention it in the comments.
Create new rom slot of at least the default size
Flash vzwupdat.zip
Flash root, whatever other mods you may want
The kernel is still the old one, I just added the wifi drivers to the original rom to try and alleviate the issues that kept people from being able to turn on WiFi. I also added the build.prop and eri.xml from the stock Verizon ROM to fix T-CDMA64 showing as the Mobile Network.
Will you update now that the OTA for Verizon has been released?
The short answer is no. The Verizon update is the same software wise as this version. The modems were updated and some of the security binaries are updated. If you use this you are essentially using the newest software you could possibly use. Trying to modify Verizon's OTA to work with safestrap is going to be counterproductive because there is so much carrier specific branding and dependencies. This does include all the same camera updates, but to alleviate some of the problems that people have with call quality I will look into a flashable radio if someone else doesn't do it 25/10/13

On most ports from GSM to CDMA the eri is missing an entry to tell the phone "Hey, this network is called 'Verizon Wireless'." It keeps users from seeing the T-CDMA64 as their network provider. If you do flash it on your dev edition I just warn you that this was designed for being used as a SafeStrap ROM. It doesn't contain a boot.img and may not boot on the dev editions.

My only thing, and I'm new to SS so I know it's something I'm doing, is when I switch to stock slot and then back to where this ROM is, I've lost data on the custom slot. Like I clean flashed. Is there a way to maintain all my user data on slot 1 while switching to stock?

Backing up to a new rom slot is really just to have your stock rom on that rom slot. All that is needed is to create the rom slot and then flash this zip.

I do not believe this should occur. I would post over on the rootzwiki forum on the SS page because it is probably an issue with SS. Certain user data is getting stored differently because of how the Moto X is set up from what I have gathered. I know Hashcode just change in the new SS where he was storing certain things so that might be part of the problem. Make sure you are on the newest SS and post what occurred over there so hashcode can look into it.

Hey guys. I am not from around here. You will normally find me hanging out in the Nexus forums. I need some help trying to correct an issue my noob buddy caused on his E970. He brought it to me today in a boot loop and apparently he rooted it an uninstalled some GAPPS and now he has this security error and BL. Now, so far I have managed to install the drivers..... that's it. I have worked on a variety of different devices but I am really having trouble with this. I think the issue is I can not find a thread that is comprehensive enough to explain what alot of the different tools are and what they do. I mean there is
1. LGNPST
2. Teenybin
3. Freegee or something like that
Then there about 14 different file types depending on the tool you are using. I have seen;
1. dll
2. bin

I have to be honest with you guys this is confusing as hell. I keep coming across dead links and old downloads and stuff that may not work. I REALLY don't like using stuff not linked from XDA as that is all I've known for many years (not to say other sites aren't reputable but you never know) I can follow instructions and figure out most stuff on my own but due to the in completion of alot of this stuff and dead links I am kinda stuck I am gonna give it another go tomorrow but in the meantime if someone wants to drop me a link or word of advice as to where to at least start it would be awesome. I am pretty handy generally with this kind of thing but I guess that goes to show you sometimes you are only as good as the tools and directions you are working with. Thanks XDA Community! :good:
Okay the first three.
3.lgnpst is the program you will need to use to fix the security error which was caused by removing bloat without unlocking bootloader.
2.teenybin is used with lgnpst to unlock bootloader, update partitions to jb, and install recovery. It doesn't install firmware but could be used to restore if a rom was copied to sd to flash.
3.freegee is used to unlock bootloader and install recovery on a working phone.
Next four.
1.dll are files needed by windows.
2.bin is the extension the file needs to be for using lgnpst.
3.kdz is stock firmware for use with lgflashtool (used mainly for international phones)
4.tot is the extension the stock firmware is released with which will be renamed to bin before using lgnpst.
In the additional info section of teenbin thread there is a click to show content button that will have have links and guide for lgnpst. Use the tSilenzio version and it will register the DLL files on install.

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed. Someone just to say "these are what these things are and what they do". I do have to admit I don't fault my buddy too much for soft bricking this thing as of all the devices I've rooted or flashed to this seems the most confusing. And also it's very odd that if you remove BW without first unlocking the bootloader you get this error..... Why can't they all just be as easy as a Nexus? Lol.

A few other things that may help.
1.lgnpst is a pain with windows 8
2.it will not work with USB 3.0
3.be sure to right click lgnpst exe and run as admin
I got my OG right after release but had already been following forum, and would hate to have to jump in now and try to figure things out.

Well its especially difficult when someone just brings you a phone and you've never even seen it booted up and you don't know all the weird quirky rules it has (like if you uninstall GAPPS without unlocking the bootloader then you get a bootloop.) lol Otherwise it seems like a solid phone. It has almost the same specs as my Nexus 4.

This link is for a flashable zip of rooted stock jb. If you used the teenybin files with lgnpst then flashed it with recovery the end result would be stock rom with unlocked bootloader, root, and custom recovery.

Real quick.... So once I've got everything back to stock and get the boot loader unlocked.. Will I then be able to modify system stuff, uninstall bloat etc and avoid that evil security error boot loop?

Yes, once you're unlocked & rooted you will be good to go. I would recommend flashing an established rom and installing the GApps that are recommended. It would be a lot more convenient and less of a hassle.
Make sure you are using TWRP, CWM was causing bugs with flashing of some roms. Hope this helps.

Awesome and once I've flashed a good rom. Would that then circumvent any future boatloads caused by modifications etc.? So in other words are those proprietary (catches) cooked out when the devs set up a rom? I would imagine so. I know most of us folks hate that kinda thing... Lol
BTW any tips on a good solid stable Jelly Bean Rom? Would want it to be pretty stable since it's not my phone... Lol

Hey thanks again everyone! Got the phone fixed. A stock AT&T 4.1.2 Rom on there and root privileges intact. Everything is good to go. I actually kinda like the phone a lot.... I really want an LG G2..... Oooh yeah... Thanks again everyone and maybe some one will find the instructions in this thread helpful.
