U mean the internal memory? U won't need to format it m8, just delete what's on it and just flash over whats left.
No need for a format, there probably is a section in there to format it though.

Ok but why in others post the people speak about using terminal emulator or dialer code to format sd card?
Usually with rom i used cwm to format but by sgs3 this is not possible or i wrong
It is very safe and will keep your system clear. I tried. No problem

In some versions of CWM, the internal sdcard and external SD (emmc) are flip-flopped. In order to format the internal SD of my galaxy s2 using CWM, I had to choose the option to format emmc. If I chose sdcard (which should represent internal SD), it would have formatted my external micro USB. If you have an external SD, just remove it before trying this procedure so you don't wipe the wrong thing (I have made that mistake).
I've been running HB and following the dev forum regularly. I've heard of people having external SD card issues. I am wondering if I am having these issues too. When I try to move an app to my SD card, it moves it from one partition to the other, not the external SD. Is it supposed to do that or am I having the external SD card issues?
Thanks in advance.

The dev shrunk the partition for the app storage (USB storage) I think... so when you move to sd your actually moving to the internal storage. I'm kinda new hear also but I read in the jb threads they did it for performance I believe. Hope this helps

The internal SD is setup with a system partition a data partition and a datadata partition that between them takes up about 3gb. Leaving around 13gb left on internal SD. The system part is basically the apps from ROM. The data and datadata is basically apps you DL and use. So when you move an app to SD you move it from the data part to internal SD.

Hi,
As u can see in the title, I own a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160L.
It has 4gb internal storage but only about 1.1gb user available. Most of the more exciting games have data that are 1.5gb and more.
Is there a way to install these games and have the sd data go to my external micro sd card and not the internal 1.1gb 'sd card'?
Thanks in advance, Nate
Are you root? Because you could try Directory Bind
Im not rooted as yet. And im not familiar with directory bind. Will look it up tho.

Is there any root free solution tho? I will root but only as a laat resort

Yeah, I am also looking for some root free method to swap sd card and external card in my galaxy ace 2.
I dont really know why in samsung phones our external sd card is nt treated as an sd card.
I had htc one v prior to this phone and atleast one good thing abt that phone was it would move apps to external sd card not to internal storage like samsung phones.
Now with this phone (galaxy ace 2), external sd card size is quite irrelevant for apps, coz this phone counts the internal usb storage which is only 1GB as sd card.
Anyways if u find any root free method to swap storage, plz post it here too.
Thanks.

Thanks for your response.
But I donot want to root my phone :-$
I am not expert at it, so dont want to take the risk. Plus this phone has a little community, so in case if something goes wrong with rooting, it might become difficult to find help...
I think I wld have to bear this storage issue. :-S

Did u try it? Does it move the app to external card? Or to the usb/internal storage?
And i think (not sure) as far as app data is concerned, it does not take too much of storage, so it shd not be an issue.
And i m not an expert in rooting, so i think i wont go for it. But lets see.

Yea it works for most apps. And if not. When u move them to the sd card thru the app manager they move to the external storage. This doesn't apply to system apps or the large sd data files that accompany those huge games that need additional data.

Okay right.
Actually the problem is when we go to settings-apps-sd card, it shows the usb/internal storage there, not the actual external sd card. So when i move any app to sd card (which is moveable), it is moves to the internal usb storage (which the phone considers as sd card storage).
But i ll give this trick a try.
And one last thing how did u confirm it that with this trick, apps are now being moved to external storage and not to the internal usb storage?

Checked the storage before and after moving apps. And also i took my sd card out. Put it in a card reader and found the apps in a folder on the micro sd card called android secure

Solution to this is rooting, and using directory bind. I currently have asphalt 7(1.4gb) Real racing 2, Dead Space, Shadow Gun etc installed and running fine from my external sd card
GB
Jellycream rom will sort that out, it swaps the vold file and you will be able to download bigger files.
can i?
can i play games form external sd card like games 1.8 and .15 gb ?
Nice

There are many guides avaliable that explains these terms. Google it. To delete the partition in sd card, you need a computer. Use partition tools manager to format your sd card. Beware, all your data in sd card will get formatted.
Hi. I just rooted my Xperia Go with stock jelly bean. But I noticed one problem, when I see storage info I'm only using 4 gb of space, but my sd card is 32 gb so I want to know what's the problem and how can I use the ext sd card. Because I'm just wasting a lot of space. I upload a screenshot too, hope you can help.
I think the problem is to swap storage/sdcard1 to /sdcard0 or not?

It no a problem because every Android smartphone will slip memory to 3 part which is phone memory (you cannot access file trough USB for new type phone), internal memory (as SD Card for GB version and SD Card 0 in JB) and external memory (as Ex_Card for GB and SD Card 1) another one is USB storage (not use at all) you can try go this link
http://www.aroundandroid.com/tag/how-to-increase-android-phones-internal-memory-with-link2sd-app/
if not you try to swap SD (ext sd to internal sd)
http://androtechnocracks.blogspot.com/2013/05/modswapswap-internal-sd-card-and.html
...usually have lot of method to do it
