Ye, but you need an USB OTG cable for that to work. You can also plug in a mouse or a keyboard in your phone. And a hub too.

Thanks for reply, I found a schematic, i will try connect

If you replace the short wire between 4(sense) and 5(gnd) pin on the second schematic with a 10Kohm resistor you will obtain a safefull cable dock car. It will start HTC Car app when you plug the cable on the phone... no need to connect to power supply.

ok, storage usb work good
and keyboard with trackball (mouse) work good too

Nice!

Try Kernel Tuner app from play store. Give it root, and go to misc. Enable USB OTG and it should work in ics.

Only Fat32 works if you have NTFS pen drive phone say "empty storage".

Did smb try to connect wireless radio mouse to DX? And please, smb try connecting usb pen drive formatted to ext4 or ntfs (32+gb). My previous phone (Nokia 701) was only able to open pen-drives formatted to FAT32 less than 32Gb. The same problem was with 2.5" HDD (500 gb, but formatted to FAT32). If someone succeeded in running such devices, please post your results here

Maybe your OTG cable not supported! I bought original Samsung OTG cable and works fine! On my xperia u (should work on sola too ) For gamepad need a driver or bla bla bla.
USB Mouse works fine too

Hai dudes,
I bought Callmate USB OTG Cable from Flipkart, Am having Xperia Sola loaded SXDXPepperZ1 ROM v3.1 Final Release Rom.
When am inserting OTG cable with and without a Pendrive, its getting rebooted.
Please help me to solve it friends....
rather make your own than buy one, I heard some devices are wired differently. ie. a samsung cable frying a sony usb port.
for better support, unlocking your bootloader will allow you to use a kernel with that support.

Bought from a computer store in Egypt it is for tab1 but work perfectly in tab2, you could try searching by term (5 in 1 card reader tab) in google or try these links

I use cm10 latest nightly with regular overclocked kernel from Johnsel
Try attaching a usb mouse or usb keyboard and see if it work
Try attaching a fat formatted usb stick not ntfs formatted one
Try a different usb stick if you can
Do not try a usb powered hard disk but you could try external powered hard disk
Try app from google play called paragon to mount the usb stick esp if formatted ntfs
Try fat formatted sd card
Open setting/storage and go down (lower than sd card list) and see if the usb stick is mounted if not click mount and see
Try app like astro file manager to try to access the usb stick files click up in it and see the usb directory

USB Host Mode on Sense Rom with screenshots

So I came across something earlier today that I have been searching for forever. USB Host Mode for Sense! Here is the link that will help. Special thanks to whoever posted it on TheMikMik site.

I was able to get it to work by adding "/mnt/usb" without quotes under settings in the USB Host Controller app.

I am currently using Stock with Goodies 2.28 Rom by Flex360 and using Evil Z 7rc Kernal from Team Blackout.
Sometimes the app does not automatically mount my device, but I can confirm that an 8GB USB drive and a SD in a multi reader work fine.

OK so I created a quick walkthrough and took a few screenshots from start to finish. (Assuming you have added the "/mnt/usb" (my preference).
Here is the OTG cable I use. Couple bucks from Amazon.

You will get this "Can not Charge" error.
Open the USB host app (after you plug in the OTG with device) you will notice the progress busy for about a minute.
After processing you should see this screen.
Click the USB tab and you should see your connected device.
Click on bottom option, you should get a selection screen. Choose Reload Partition Table.
You should see "SDA1" (or equivalent) now listed.
Click SDA1 and select mounting point (I only have "/mnt/usb" since I removed the default ones from settings and had only added this one).
The device is now mounted!
Using your file management app of choice (in my case ES file explorer) navigate to the mounting point you have chosen. And enjoy!

[Q] Serial in Android

I'm some noob to Android and wondering about the files and directories I found out that there's a file in /dev called tty, so I wonder if I can use something like this:

For using serial devices to comunicate with apps and I don't know using that for configuring routers by a HyperTerminal console, just wondering.
It's possible, someone tried it?
Seriosly, in the mother of god Android forum with a lot of users, no one ever tried to make Serial devices work with Android?

Good god, no. I've probably touched a cd/dvd more recently than I've handled a device with those kinds of plugs and when I did I was literally throwing them in a dumpster. The few crazy things I've seen here on XDA are being done over USB.

You need a usb Cable. Cut It in the middle take the two cables inside red and black ones, open the back of your razr (see YouTube for a video tutorial) and connect the black cable with - under the protection rubber and red cable with +
Now connect the other end of usb Cable to a wall charger and with another usb - micro usb connect the phone to a usb on your PC. Now you are able to fastboot your razr! Enjoy!
