Remove apps from rooted player 5.0 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

I bought one of these for my son . Clearly he will only be using for playing games watching movies and taking pictures. Is it safe to remove majority of the system apps without getting fc ? Like phone app is not needed (not a phone).
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2

There is a phone app lol? I would only remove the apps that show up in your app drawer. You shouldn't get a force close from them since they aren't really managing anything system related.

Yeah the custom rom I download had everything that our phones have LOL mms phone etc. Even has the spot for the signals up beside the battery .

there is actually a way to integrate voip with the dialer. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111657)
but if you want to remove, try just renaming the file (ie from Phone.apk to Phone.apk.bak)
then reboot your gp and see if anything goes wrong

Don't remove the phone.apk. It may stop the camera working.

[Q] Viper 2.0

Any chance that we can get the native tethering app to work for us unlimited data plan users in viper 2.0?
Which native tether app are you referring to? The mobile hotspot one from Verizon? I don't think that will work on any rom if you aren't subscribed to it with vzw.
I got wireless tether from the market working after changing a few things in the settings on viper 2.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
What settings did you change to make it work?
Device profile I changed to generic ics/jb. And I think I enabled routing fix and mss clamping. Those might have been enabled already tho.
Sent from my ADR6410LVW using Tapatalk 2
I use WiFi tether available on the market. I select rezound for device, netd master under setup method, and example filibustering fix..... working like a charm
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
I didn't have to change anything I just installed it and turned it on works fine.

Hotspot tethering subscription is included with shared data plans IIRC. But if you managed to get this phone and keep your unlimited data plan, then you do not have the subscription and the app will not launch. Probably could do something about it if the APK was decompiled, but that is too much work...

Not the Verizon App, I meant the WiFi tether app from the Play Store. You don't have to change anything just install it and turn it on, it works fine.
This wasn't the case for me. I couldn't get anything to work until I changed the device profile.

these tethering apps always seem quarky. thanks for everyone posting what mods they had to do to make it work. gives other people things to try...

Swiftkey flow

I was under the impression that the spen would not work with flow, but it does! Sure am missing the dedicated number row though. If it had that it would be perfect.

I can deal without a dedicated number row. Just turn your long press sensitivity down.

How does the beta compare to the version pre-installed on the Note 2?

agreed on both parts. i can type amazingly fast with it
I love it. It has all the functionality of SwiftKey plus flow, so if you don't like flow you can use it just like you can use the normal SwiftKey.
I took nosit1's advice and turned long press sensitivity down to make numbers easier. Love it! Now just need to figure out how to swipe to erase like on the non - swipe version and I will be perfectly content.

Best app to save Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings

You can save bluetooth pairing and wifi ap's with titanium backup. Dont know if the free version will do it so you might have to purchase pro.

Yeah, I never use Google backup. To many devices on my account (five total). End up getting my kids games and such restored to my phone. I guess my experience with titanium is mostly with my old thunderbolt... the accounts, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc., never seemed to work, but we were working off of a lot of cobbled together bases. So I never really tried it with my more modern devices.

Phone/Dialer force close

I couldn't find any other threads on this subject. Every time I try to access the keyboard in the middle of a phone call it forces closes and drops the call, the device usually freezes so I have to do a battery pull to fix. I'm on MDK stock ROM. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Better to start soft before you go hard at the problem. If you dont have much on your phone and you dont mind it getting erased I would try a factory reset to see if that solves the problem, though im doubting it will. Have you tried a different keyboard to see if the problem lies with that specific keyboard?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Did you mess with/mod anything related to secphone.apk (dialer, theming dialer or phone app) or anything at all related to contacts or messaging? What keyboard are you using? Hexitnow's advice is your best bet. In case that doesn't work you could go extract the mdk secphone seccontacts and secmms apks from a stock mdk rom and either push them to system or flash a zip containing them. Only try these if you have a custom recovery though and you should make a backup in case anything should go wrong.

Google 4.4 KitKat Launcher

Here we go folks! Download all the files and then run the launcher. Working great here on the S4.
http://phandroid.com/2013/10/31/download-and-install-the-new-google-experience-launcher/
There is also some apps that you can download also that are 4.4.
ENJOY!

EDIT: Here is the working Hangouts app with SMS working!

I just fixed this on my device. By clearing data, it erased the English (US) language update. Under Google Now settings, tap "Offline Speech Recognition" then "All" and tap "English (US)" to update. After it finishes, press home and it should be working!

Drag an icon to the right to a "new" screen. It will only create a screen for something. It will not create an empty one.
