Facebook Home in Play Store - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Its Friday 12th April and Facebook Home is supposed to be on the Play Store. It isn't.
I have a One X so should be able to see the app.
Edit: It is now in the Play Store for the US only on select compatible android devices. The rest of the world can try this apk available to download here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wkn8izmbbk8pmn5/com.facebook.home-1.apk
The compatible devices are: Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One X, and HTC One X+

My device (Note 2) is supported. It seems its not released on of the play stores. I used a VPN to check US, UK, and Australia play stores. The 12th is almost over in Australia!

Its only being released in the US today

Hahahaha this post made my day. Thanks for the good laugh

its 930 Eastern Time still no show in the play store yet. Be patient. It will come.

Why is the leaked apk STILL not working for anyone? Its the same apk on the HTC First which is already on sale as of now.

after release - i can install facebook home full functional? Or is facebook home login closed for european users?

The leaked APK was a developer build and it was glitchy. It is not the one pulled from the final version of the HTC First. it was pulled from a dev build of the HTC First rom and will probably remain blocked.

SMH
Lord.
It's just the facebook app, with "home" added on the end. You'll get a facebook notification.
Also, people are saying it's not stable.

Got it its like freshly made cra* it's just plain and hooks up to the katana package of Facebook app nothing special
Over hyped I'd expected a ton better from Facebook it's disappointing
EDIT: DONT ASK HOW I GOT THAT!

I hope its soon. It looks like my tablet (Xoom) is going to be updated to Jelly Bean before my phone can be updated to Ice Cream Sandwhich.... SMH
All I see now is
HTC SYNC 3.0.5617 FOR HTC Rezound | 01.17.2012
Which is not the same thing.
I think it is a test by HTC to see how many forum threads can get started each time they make a change to their site. Then they remove the notice.
Been playing with a Nexus 7 all day... Jelly Bean is pretty cool, but I'm not starving for it on my Rezound. ICS is good enough for me and I prefer Sense anyway.
There just messing with us, at this rate we'll be lucky to see an ota by christmas or ever... they probably just keep promising it so people looking at buying a new phone won't choose another phone that already has ics.
Saw nobody mention this but in this site
http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-rezound-verizon/
Under specs, it states the 3.14.605.10 710RD as their current version. It's been like this for a few days. It'll be funny if it comes out 7/20 and kept giving us the 6/20 as a hint ;-P

That is the current software version.
Content on that page keeps changing. Now (7/19/2012, 12:07) all HTC shows is the link for HTC SYNC from 1/17/2012.
I agree with the suggestions of some posters' in the forum that these are hints at what is happening behind the scenes between HTC and Verizon.
I'm hoping to see an official ICS OTA before the end of the month, but I sure won't be holding my breath. At least when it does, that presumably gets us a step closer to getting source released.
Here are the links at HTC and Verizon that I've used to check for releases.

http://support.verizonwireless.com/system_update/rezound.html http://support.verizonwireless.com/system_update/rezound.html
And the wait continues...
Looks like it really is official. The Verizon support page says it's coming soon, with a changelog and instructions.

It's a lesson not to to rely on speculation as fact, Samsung have not issued any release dates for JB, it's just rumours.
Samsung never confirmed this, but we want it to be true. I am also waiting for the JB update, and think it will be available soon in a couple of days or so. At least I wish.
Samsung is not known for their speediness in releasing software/firmware updates of any kind.. get used to it.

I've got today an OTA for my SGS3. I was a bit shocked, they really sent the JB update. After installing the update nothing changed visually. I've given a call The Samsung Customer Service and they told me it was a bug fix for 4.0.4 ICS. I'm from HUNGARY having a T-Mobile SGS3. I don't think so they will air another firmware update today as well after the Event in Berlin...

The APK, sent to us by a lucky reader (thanks, Brendan!), is signed by Google and upgrades your existing Play Store. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take weeks, download and install it just like any other APK and enjoy the new Play Store experience.

I think that Google Play is an app that we have to wait to release it officially to our phones.

i dont like it anyway, everything is so freaking BIG, looks like its more made for tablets than for phones.

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

That's not how updates work. Phones don't get updates based upon their contract status or lack thereof, but instead they get updated by their device ID. (Carrier, region, etc..)

Phones get updated not based whether you bought it on credit or full or contract or w/e but based on region, carrier or if you got the developer edition. Most updates MUST go through the carriers and they must approve of it. Is why the First Galaxy line was slow at getting updated. Thank T-Mobile for that
