[Q] Intel WiFi Direct and Galaxy S2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have intel centrino n2230 wifi chip on my laptop and win 8 64bit, having installed and updated all the software/drivers from intel I cannot get wifi direct to work between gs2 and laptop. I was wondering if anyone here had the same issue? Looking at intel's forum, everyone has this issue but thought someone here might have a fix?

Installing Win 7 on G Tab?

The ViewPad 10 has dual boot os' & I was wondering if anyone has managed or if it could be done on our G-Tabs? If so could you kindly share how to go about about doing this.
No it cant be done
Fair enough, but can I ask why? I had a cheapie Zenithink ZT-180v2 who's specs are crap & I was able to load WinCe with no problems.
because win7 is not designed to run on arm processors just x86 the viewpad is a intel adam processor and android has been ported to run on it.
Wait for windows 8 to ask this question... or do what i do... remote desktop with an RDP app :]. Better battery life than any windows 7 tablet to boot.

That would be Atom processor, not adam.
On the other hand Win Phone 7 might work on G-tab..... Anyone thought about that?

Yeah I've been trying to get Splashtop Remote to work away from my local network for days now but haven't had luck setting up the router to recognize the G-Tab & vice versa when I'm away from home. If I'm locally connected to my wifi, no prob but then what's the point of using a remote app if I'm at home. Other apps I can get to work, but they are slow compared to Splashtop.

[Q] if win8 ARM version releases, is there any chance to apply it on galaxy tab?

win8 ARM is closer, if someone comes out to handle the drivers on it, is there any chance to try win8 on galaxy tab? tegra2 driver has already existed, GPS, bluetooth or accelerater seems not so important as soon as WIFI driver gets ready, doesn't it?
No need to start YET ANOTHER THREAD for this

This forum is nothing if not for re-asked questions, but just to end this one quickly:
No.
MS is not going to release the code for ARM windows 8. The chances of seeing win8 on this tablet are slim; not until the SC is leaked (won't happen); MS changes their minds (won't happen); or some ex-MS employee who's good at memorization decides to recreate the drivers from memory (good luck).

[Q] Using Samsung Tablet as Monitor for Mac Mini

Thanks for all the great info guys.
I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer.
I had my Galaxy Tab stolen along with my Macbook Air and need to replace.
This time I would like to get a fully spec'd Mac Mini and get the latest and greatest Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 or 12.1.
Anyone know how to get Samsung tablet to be used as a monitor for Mac Mini? I want to work off Tablet while connected to Mac Mini for
my video and audio work and then use the tablet later for web and other android stuff.
I would prefer a wired connection since Mac Mini has all kinds of ports that are fast.
Anyone know of a work around for this kind of setup?
I need to have both because of the heavy work I do in video and audio on Mac and the the heavy
research I do online with tablet. The pen would be a great help in both systems. I've seen on youtube that
tablets touch screen can be used on Macbooks.
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
Ever get any guidance?
Hey Dan --
I'm considering something similar for similar reasons (video/audio editing & writing/research) .... did you ever get any advice for this set up or give it a try? Curious how it worked out ... any and all appreciated.

Android Wifi Hardware Support

So this is an odd one.
I have an Android laptop with a 1080 screen, not a chromebook.
The HP Slatebook 14. It works fine and I love it to bits. Especially now it has office.
I would like to use it with gamestream and moonlight.
The issue I have is this. The built in wifi is only 801.11n at 2.4Ghz and on a mixed network, 54Meg is too slow to stream at 1080.
On looking around I have found that the wifi is a standard miniPCI module.
I can't post links yet, but if you google HP slatebook 14 disassembly you can see images of the motherboard with wifi module.
So upgrading the hardware should be quite easy. The issue is, that there is no documentation that I can find about which cards are supported and if the drivers would even be pre-installed.
So any help on this would be appreciated. :highfive:
