problem fixed with USBFlash driver but thanks for reply now using aokp next i will try unlock the bootloader to instal cm9
While updating a new Xperia U to ICS the PCC had an error while flashing the new firmware. Now the screen lights up, the sony logo is shown for ~3-5 seconds and then it reboots.
After that I have been unable to get it recognized again by either PCC/SUS or flash tool.
I also checked my log files in Linux and no device appears.
I've tried 3 different machines (2x Windows 8, 1x Win 7), multiple USB ports. Also leaving the battery out for ~30 mins didn't change the behavior.
The green light for download mode comes on, but after about 5 seconds the light goes out and it goes into the boot loop again.
So by now I believe the device needs to be sent in, but maybe some one has a few more things I can try.
Try pressing the volume down plus volume up plus power button all 3 simultaneously till u feel 3 vibrations

Can you make sure the Flashtool drivers are installed ? Go to Flashtool Directory, open drivers directory and start the setup.. Make sure to select the Flashmode and Fastboot drivers are also selected. Then, reboot System and folow this order.
Startt flashtool, select f/w, wait for Flashtool to tell you to connect to device. Then, holding the Volume down button (while phone is switched off), plug the cable into phone (The usb cable must already be connected to PC before starting the Flash Procedure )
The Order is very important.. I had same issue with U (althoguh mine crashed with Flashtool and same as what you observed. When I followed this order, I was able to get it detected and flashed )
Hopefully, you wont need to return to Service Center
let me know how it goes

No response, I've tried holding all three buttons for a minute, but it doesn't vibrate after turning on. The only way I can turn it off is by removing the battery.

I tried that right now, Flashmode and Fastboot drivers are installed. Flash tool is ready, device is plugged in with volume down pressed, green light comes on. Nothing is found on the PC, after about 5 seconds the green light turns off and the phone shows the sony logo. Green light also comes on if i simply plug in the usb without volume down pressed. So I'm thinking, the download mode has some how been corrupted?

Are u connecting it properly???
Make sure when u connect ur cell to ur pc u have nt presed the power key
keep the phone off
Press the volume down button ( keep it pressed, dun
leave it) and connect it to the usb
U will see green light
Darn.. That looks bad.. That did it for me on every occasion. I think you might have a hardbrick due to the interrupted write cycle so I dont think any other way except to take it to Service Center
Sorry I couldnt help

Exactly what I'm doing and the green light does come on. Except it decides to go into a boot loop after it apperantly boots into download mode but doesn't stay there.

That's what I've been fearing. In which case it goes back to the seller in the hope that he will send me a new device.

Have you manage to recover your phone without taking it to service?
I'm in the exactly same situation... Any help is welcome...
While trying to enter flashmode, green light turns on but after some secs it turns off and sony logo appears on screen. any chance to recover this beautiful brick ?
thanks
After several tries (a lot of...) I manage to enter flashmode and SUS is now reinstalling sony ROM.
Honestly I donĀ“t know how it works this time and not the others but i'm happy with it independently of what happens.
... seems flashtool is detecting ur phone try to flash first the stock kernel and do not wipe everything it shud be in timing though.. onces it is flash charge ur phone in kernel mode (phone is off) then you can flash the stock fw of ur XU.
I bricked my phone
I bricked my xperia U as well... When i tried to power ON, it just vibrates and nothing happens, i dont even get the sony logo. When i get into flash boot mode it gets connected but after 20secs, the phone turns off again. Only fastboot mode stays on. How can i unbrick my phone??? Plz help. I made a mistake by flashing the custom jelly bean rom without flashing the kernel first.

No worries. The phone turns off because it doesn't receive any signal from the PC - many people make the mistake of connecting the device in flashmode first, and then they start the flashtool etc.
Instead, load the flashtool first, go to flashmode, select a complete/full stock ftf for your phone (whichever version you want, but do double check if the ftf has kernel.sin file in it) and press the flash button. Only once you get the pop up with the animation telling you to connect the phone in flash mode, connect the phone in flashmode (volume - button pressed when connecting cable). As soon as you connect the phone, the flashtool will start its magic and your phone won't turn off.
if you can go in cwm wipe system then you will only be stuck on sony logo then use this guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPPWRXcsz7g.....it will work because this same happened to me and i fixed it with this method!

I suppose the phone is off now?
If so try: download stock ROM and put it in flashtool/firmware, start flashtool, choose the stock rom with wipe data, vol - and put USB in so you can enter flashtool mode and flash official ROM.

I've tried connecting sola to PC but it seems like flashtool can't detect it. Is there other way to connect it to PC so flashtool can detect the device? I already downloaded stock firmware
Still no luck
1) Hold power + vol up until you feel the phone vibrates 3 times.
Quickly hold power down, and shove the USB wire in.
It should detect your phone in flashboot now.
2) Alternatively, after the phone vibrates 3 times, keep a hold on vol up to get it into fastboot. Then flash the correct kernel for the rom you have.
Note that ICS, GB and CM roms all use a different kernel. Make sure you have the right one.
3) Lastly, if your phone's bootloader is still locked, you can just repair using SUS.
Hello,
As per title, I flashed a LuPuS-RAY-ICS-STOCK for Xperia Ray on my SE Live with walkman so now my phone cannot boot(red light indicator). Flashtool unable to detect my device now. Is there another method to fix this? Please assist.
Did you try flashing some other kernel or else flash stock Rom with kernel.sin if your phone gets recognized in flashmode....best of luck...

Aj

Take out battery, wait 15 seconds, insert battery again, hold volume up, while holding volume up connect the mobile to pc. Launch flashtool and it should detect your device. Now flash another kernel

Yes, i have the same problem on my Xperia U....it's not actually a problem...just don't connect your phone before flashtool asks you to connect it!
I think that it disconnects and start charging in order to save battery( flash mode consumes battery)
What i want to say is that FIRST click on the lighting button, choose the ROM and the ''exclude boxes'' you want to exclude and when flashtool opens a window and forces you to connect the phone, then connect your phone by pressing the volume down button
(Make sure flash mode drivers are installed for your phone
