Discovery V5
Hi, I've recently bee looking into getting this phone but am not sure if its worth getting due to the lack of ram. I am looking for a rugged phone on a budget for when I do 'out-doorsy' stuff. would anybody that owns the phone give me a quick review and a list of what it can and can't do and overall if it is worth getting (I know somewhere that I can get it for £67). thank you and if it is possible to root it this will be a big bonus.
Unrooteable???

If anyone know any mode for rooting this phone, please help!
Hardware : MT6575 (MT6517 is Fake!)
Model : Z3Z6Z7

I don't know anymore what kind of cpu is in there. Before it was with sc8810,maybe they did an upgrade to some mtk cpu.Antutu benchmark is around 5200.
It's not ics,probably 2.3!
This works!

Use this, it worked for me on this same model phone. Just run this program, then connect phone to PC with USB debugging enabled. You will then need to click the blue button in bottom right corner.
It will install a chinese language Superuser but simply install SuperSU or Superuser from Play Store and make sure you press the right hand button when the chinese superuser request pops up when you go to update the su binary in the english SuperSu or Superuser.
**After you have updated su binary in the english version of Superuser/SuperSU, then you can delete the chinese version and still keep root. After the su binary is updated root access control gets handed off to the english version.**
Hope this helps!
***EDIT*** You have google to find Vroot, cant post a link to it on XDA.
I found the solution

Hi,
Off top of my head, did you try the Chinese root program I posted above? If that don't work I would say to try Root by Restore next and if that don't work either, try motochopper.
Let me know if any of the 3 methods work. If it had a MT65xx processor I know another method but you would need to install antutu and it will tell you all device specific information we need.

I too used this solution and installed the English Superuser along with the chinese version above and it worked like a charm. Dont forget to keep both versions to maintain root.

Not true! You do not need to keep the chinese version, once you install English Superuser or SuperSU and use chinese "superuser" to grant access to english version so it can update its own binary you are free to remove the chinese version. That is first thing I did so I know it works, just make sure you grant access with chinese app when updating su binary in english version, after updating english binary you pretty much hand off control of root access to the english version.

Perhaps I didnt grant access right the first time I installed ROOT´óʦ as I had to reinstall it when I went to change something and was prompted that I didnt have the system rooted. I just reinstalled and left it there not knowing better. I love this phone and its perfect so far except bluetooth that I cant get to pair with my hands free system in my 2012 Subaru Forester. Have you had any issues with bluetooth?

Thank you, I am glad I could help. I like to tackle these lesser known phones, I cant hold a candle to the skills of the really well known guys on here, but I try to do my part still I do still have the stock back up made with MTK droid Tools (thank Rua1 for his awesome tool, it comes in handy for these MediaTek devices), I would recommend you download the tool and back up your own phone at least 3 times, it is good to have in case you mess up phone playing with root. Since this is an almost unknown device it is quite hard to find the firmware files for it, I searched the internet looking for a site to get firmware for this phone and found nothing so in short, to be safe, I would REALLY recommend making a few back ups with MTK Droid Tools, worst case I have a prerooted version saved on my PC, if you ever need it let me know.

S4 clone MTK6575 Recorvery mode failed
Hello,
I have got a S4 samsung (fake) I9500 (one sim)
Android 4.2.2
Baseband: MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP.V37,2013/06/19 15:44
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 1311 V12 Fri Jul 5 17:42 CST2013
Compilation number JDQ39.I9500ZHUAMDE
Compilation version 1373015782
I have tried to root it with your explanations here but I got a "temporary rooted" message.
Droid tools says that software does not correspond to the hardware.
And when I try to enter the recovery mode I can't select the options (I attach an image)
Could you please help?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi there
Was in china last week and bought a GS3, not sure if its real or not so this may have an effect on my problems, but ive done some speed tests and its as fast as my friends GS3
ive also got a galaxy s advance but have never rooted a phone at all but im pretty good at following instructions,
ive followed all the tutorials I can find an basicly cant get my phone into download mode.
when i turn the phone off, hold down vol - home button and powers button the phone goes to a screen with an android on its back with a exclamation mark in a red triangle if i then press the home button i get the android system recovery list (3e) and can move up and down the list but the home button doesn't seem to select anything.
the phone works works fine but have a few annoying Chinese app on it i cant install hence the reason I want to put 4.1 on it
any help would be much much appreciated
the info ive found out is
kernal version - 3.0.13 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3
VBOOT ver - 2010.06
android ver - 4.0.4
sw ver - ALPS.ICS.MP.V.6
thanks

First of all, check if you have a genuine Galaxy S III using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alxdroiddev.gs3identity
(it is also available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1976814)
If you get a "No match" message, you have a fake Galaxy S III.

I just got this new phone from China. TBH i never expected it to be a genuine Lenovo, however I was curious to get a feel for the device and decided to risk it. I'm not really dissapointed by the device hardware (although it is not what was promissed, the system info from Android is modified to show the seller specs, however I have used several tools and noted the contrary). My only BIG problem with this phone is the OS. It has a lot of twerks, such as automatically installing apps from Google Play, not showing proper system info, battery levels, signal strength and properly displaying types of connection available (2G, 3G, H+ etc)
From what I can see it's very similar with the S850c discussed in a previous post. However, the solutions described there (the Elephone P6i ROM) did not seem to be compatible, so before i brick the phone i decided to try and get some expert opinions.
For this reason i would like to ask if anybody knows of a stock ROM for the S850w device ?
I used MtkDroid Tools v2.5.3 to get a few specs from the device:
Hardware : MT6582 (MT6595 is Fake!)
Model : S850W
Build number : ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.11
Build date UTC : 20141013-073903
Android v : 4.4.2
Baseband v: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V35, 2014/07/17 10:42
Kernel v : 3.4.67 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.7 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed Oct 22 11:34:21 CST 2014
Uboot build v : -----
LCD Driver IC : 0-sh1282_dsi
As i see it, some manufacturer must have built this phone for somebody who wanted to sell it properly, not just try and scam on-line shoppers, so there should be a clean ROM out there which I can install over this messy OS (tweaked for the sole purpose of convincing shoppers that they actually got what was promised)
Thank you very much for any help that can be provided

I'm interested to see if you get an answer from an expert as I've had a very similar experience: bought a phone advertised as a MTK6595 Lenovo A808T phone which turned out to be a MTK6582 clone that I can't identify. Interestingly the specs MTK Droid Tools gives for this phone seem remarkably similar to yours (only differences in bold):
Hardware : MT6582 (MT6595 is Fake!)
Model : LENOVO
Build number : ALPS.KK1.MP1.V2.11
Build date UTC : 20140914-111625
Android v : 4.4.2
Baseband v: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V35, 2014/07/17 10:42
Kernel v : 3.4.67 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.7 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Mon Oct 20 17:21:08 CST 2014
Uboot build v : -----
LCD Driver IC : 0-sh1282_dsi
So I don't know whether these details are often very similar or not, but if you get a helpful reply that might help me too.
Incidentally I've tried porting several MTK6582 ROMs following this guide but always get a boot loop or hang.

Hi, I have the same phone, but right know i cant use it. I've deleted 2 files from data/app-private thinking it is virus and nw it boot loops.
Do you have a scatter file for this phone? Or maybe even a copy of first os that was in the phone when you reciveit? I need that to unbrick this thing.
Looking farword for your answer.

You really don't know how these things are made. What happens is they get bits and parts of all over and then assemble them in back rooms. (there was a great documentary done on it) then they just get a working rom which is not that hard to build and then change some files. The whole point is to scam people. Mainly in China it is more important to look like you have a great device then it is for the device to work properly.
There is never a stock rom released for these devices. You might be able to find a hacked together rom on a China based site but you won't find anything here really. We don't deal with cheap knock off.

Maybe U could give me some hint, where to find "hacked together rom on a China based site" - I'm trying baidu, but thers only sellers offers. Or maybe theres a way to put back some files into phone but from the level of preloader or bootloader (like I wrote earlier it boot loops and I dont have scatter file)?

Honestly, if nobody has a recovery for this device, it might be easier just to port it yourself.
Of course, you can always try MTKTOOLS. It created a cwm for my Lenovo when it wasn't supported by CWM or teamWin

MTK Droid tools would certainly be your best option here. Porting is not for the uninitiated as you can severely damage your device.
MTKtools has a dedicated thread here somewhere. (You'll have to search because I cannot post links here at the moment.)
Just hit the root button and it should simply compile a cwm for you as it did for me. You'll need to enable USB debugging in developer options. If you can't see it in your settings, go to About Device and tap on Build Number 7-9 times to enable Developer Options.

You won't find much help here. Almost no one uses knock off devices and nor do they build roms for it.
I find some rom for mt6572

Your best bet is to look there. Here no one touches the devices like that.

Yes, but in fact, I know a lot of people that are using this device, but it does not matter if a few people make use of these devices. Since this device uses MediaTek chips should be made for the ROM and the recovery.

People only make roms for devices they have. And that chip is one of the main reason no one can. They seldom release the gpl required kernel source. Also you will find developers dont buy devices with that chipset in it.
itz easy
Use easy magic twrp installer for mtk
Easy magic installer is also available for philz CTR CWM
Do you mean iOS Data Recovery ?
I used an software before which recovery my files.
I saw the article called 5 Tips to Fix iPhone/iPad Recovery Mode Not Working
Althouth the methods is useless for me haha, but I bought the TunesKit iOS System Recovery ,it could works.
if you are interesred ,you could have a look hope it works for you

Hi Guys,
A friend of mine wanted me to get his S6 Clone running again, it just bootlooped randomly without doing anything special.
I tried flashing every single Rom there is out there for any S6 Clone using Smart Phone Flash tool- always with the result/error that im not having the right Rom for the right chipset, and i have no idea how to get that information/right rom because he bought it in privat and hasnt got a clue where it got bought from.
http://postimg.org/image/hc0nodbh9/ (when it was still booted up we got this screen)
http://postimg.org/image/arotv9w7r/
http://postimg.org/image/di4v32cpn/ thats all on info i can gather.
this is a screen from mkdroid tool. I only can see some data there when im in the "chinese recovery" thingi and connect it via usb then. theres a normal recovery, too, but wiping data+cache doesent do **** there so i assume thats not the way i getting it to work again, since it still bootloops.
i tried taking a backup with mkt droid tool and ported it into a generic mtk6589 rom, but now im having a .zip which i cant flash without cwm which i cant install because i cant get the info what device this is.
Please help me out here guys. I put like 15 hours into this device and thats worth more than actualy buying a new clone..
before i forget, it seems to have the UBI file system. i checked and used all roms i could find on sites like needrom etc
i opened the back and it showed mediatek mt6571a on it. i cant even find one single hit on google for that chip, and for sure no rom..so what am i going to do now
