Hello XDA can somebody help this bloody fool?
I was following the directions of this thread trying to install notifications toggles to my phone. Used root explorer. However, l changed the permissions on the wrong file or folder, it seems, as the phone just displays the logo and reboots, caught in a loop.
What files and folders has to have which permissions? How can I change them if I can't boot my phone? I don't have any mod other than Root, as this was the first I was trying to use, as I have to have better access to the toggles.
Any ideas? Some command prompt commands? Guide?
Sorry, I think I got it now.
Flashed the phone with Flashtool. Wised everything, but it's working now.

today i deodexed my /system/app/ and /system/framework/ successfully.
used root explorer to copy and paste the framework directory in place.
before i could do the same for the app directory - multiple errors resulting in a reboot to a bootloop
i have tried for a few hours now to create a update.zip with the odexed files to return to a working environment.. what i get on the screen is.. installing update.zip.. installation aborted... no errors or anything. (this is with the stock samsung recovery)
i do have a copy of the the original odexed files and the deodexed files.
clockwork recovery isnt supported for this phone yet so i can't go that route
i can't adb push the files because i need to grant adb superuser permissions from the phone.
so basically i have a nice fancy brick with a rotating droid animation on the screen.
the phone is a Samsung Gravity Smart SGH-T589
any suggestions?
btw - the firmware hasn't been released yet for this phone or i'd attempt a fix with odin.
Last I checked you may have to go a custom route to install a custom recovery. That step is always the weirdest, and it's never been the same for any of my phones. Especially if the phone isn't going to start up the conventional way...
Here are two places with more information that I found, maybe you didn't.

i'm making progress with my update.zip
got it to install finally but still bootlooping
Hey guys,
After almost three hours of googling and frustration, I cannot find an answer to my question.
I have a Galaxy S 4G, rooted using Superoneclick (confirmed by having wireless tether and superuser)
I installed Rom Manager, got the clockworkflash version for my phone, and started a reboot into recovery mode.
...
when I got to recovery mode, I see a little android and a exclamation mark. There was an error with installation saying something like "signature not verified"
All I want to do is replace the dialer graphics for my phone.
And that requires some flashing.
I tried an alternate method where I used Root Explorer, trying to replace the old dialer file with a new one. However, I am unable to modify the permissions in the system folder. Whenever I change the permission, it reverts back to the regular settings. I cannot rewrite any file in the system folder.
So how do I get recovery mode to work on my phone,
and how do I modify system file permissions to make them re-writable?
Hello,
Does anyone know how create a very simple "updater.zip" file that does nothing except run the "set_perm_recursive" function and set the "/storage/sdcard0/DCIM" folder and all files/folders under it to 777?
I recently screwed up my wife's phone trying to install an app, and didn't have a backup. Now it is stuck on the bootup image screen and won't finish booting up. I am trying to download her photos.
I connected using ADB pull, but since I don't have root on the phone... I don't have permissions to access the /storage/sdcard0/DCIM folder.
So I thought it might be possible to create a simple "updater.zip" script that I can run from the recovery screen, which would give world read/write permissions to the /storage/sdcard0/DCIM folder. Then I can use ADB pull to get a copy of all her pictures to my computer.
Thanks for any help!
Hi all,
Hope you can help. I have a Time2 TC1050G tablet. I recently rooted this successfully and installed Boot Animations from JRummy. Unfortunately, I made a bad choice of Bootanimation and my tablet started boot looping. The animation played for a while, stuck and then rebooted.
I managed to get into recovery and decided to do a factory reset. This completed normally, but it has left the erroneous bootanimation there, so I am no better off.
When installing the new bootanimation, I took the option of backup.
I'm stuck now. I found another bootanimation.zip of the correct size for my tablet and tried using adb to put it onto the tablet using 'apply upate from adb'. I only get the option to sideload and have tried adb sideload bootanimation.zip.
Adb command line says Total xfer: 0.04% and then ends. Tablet says Opening update package... Installation aborted.
I can also get into fastboot and have fastboot set up on my PC.
In addition, I found a TWRP backup folder on my SD card which I have also copied to my PC. My Tablet doesn't have TWRP available in Recovery mode so I must have uninstalled it...
Is there anything I can do? Is it possible to browse the contents of the tablet internal memory and see if I can replace the bootanimation.zip file with the backup? Could I force my TWRP backup onto the device?
Any help very gratefully received. I have adb/fastboot and can follow instructions.
Cheers
Gary
Dear fellas,
I replaced my build.prop file to an another one and my phone is not booting up anymore.
I have a rooted Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, with custom recovery.
Can anyone advise what to do without wiping the phone completely and flashing a new ROM?
What I've tried doing:
- I had the original build.prop that the phone had before it got stuck.
- I used the file explorer in custom recovery, copied that file to the system folder in root.
- Rebooted the device, still no luck!
- After rebooting, when I reopen the recovery, and navigate to the system folder again, I don't find the file I copied to the system folder!
Any thoughts on the matter please? Thanks in advance!
Have you tried writing original Rom to the phone. Don't have much experience with that kind best I can suggest

Try mount system read/write first then copy og build prop file in system partition and reboot or use aroma file manager.
