New AT&T ota update - AT&T HTC One (M7)

When I asked an HTC rep they said it was the final approved version from AT&T. Was wondering if anyone else has the phone already and has gained root access with the original software version that came with the pre release devices.
Thanks in advance

For now

Unlocked the bootloader through HTCdev today, and then rooted it. Was really easy.
Though I imagine since AT&T has said that the bootloader will eventually not be allowed to be unlocked, that it'll probably be nice to get it done sooner than later once you get your device.

HTC will block it per ATT instructions. Better unlock asap lol

Doesn't rooting it removes some sense apps I heard ?
Can someone confirm this

I used the toolkit to flash CWM as my recovery, then manually flashed SU through recovery.

Think I might do that. Can you post the SU zip?
You use the same recovery for the international version ?

I used SuperSU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
There is a link for a flashable ZIP file that worked perfectly with the HTC One.
Whatever CWM recovery came with that toolkit in the international forums is what I used.
I believe technically, the international and AT&T One devices are the same, so almost anything in the international forum should also work with the AT&T One.

thanks ! but i feel like there is no need to flash a rom over this, i understand people want to make it custom and add certain things to it but the main reason why i flashed always was to find a rom that makes the phone work.. my previous phones all have had major issues -.- (the captivate being te worse)

Did anyone have the link to download this OTA from HTC or the actual zip they received? I've had mine for 2 weeks & still stuck on 1.26.502.6. Would like to get on 1.26.502.10 without rooting. Thanks!

Why not root and unlock the bootloader? It's not like you can't put it back to stock. Then you'd be on the latest and greatest.

HOX+ Boot Loop

Hi All,
I've tried searching but to no avail. I got an HOX+ from ATT today and was excited to root it I got through rooting it no problem. But then I installed ClockworkMod Recovery. Now the phone wont boot at all. I can get in to fast boot and recovery. But it says no SD Card exists when I try to access the SD card. Other then that I get nothing but the HTC Logo. If anyone could help it would be great! At this point I wouldn't mind going back to stock.
More than likely you flashed a non-ATT recovery since there is not one out now for ATT. I did the same and swapped out this afternoon rather than wait for a HTC release.

Ok but that doesn't explain how you rooted with no custom recovery for AT&T available, in other words how did you flash SU zip? I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to know the answer to this question I'd be greatly appreciative to know how it was done so I can root the stock and be done with it for while until the kinks get worked out. **** I seen they started a thread to donate for a Dev to get the international HOX+ why was'nt an AT&T donate thread started so we can buy a dev one too? I'll chip in and I'm sure many others will too.

All I did was unlock the phone. Not sure of I got root or what. I just followed the instructions in the all in one. Phone asked me if I really wanted to unlock it I said yes. Then I tired flashing Clockwork. Based on all the reading I've done I'm almost positive I didn't root it. Just screwed my phone up. Going to have to go to ATT tomm and see what can be done.

He means he took it to AT&T and said it died on him so they gave him a new one. I did the same thing. As of right now, there is no RUU (ROM Update Utility) provided by AT&T. I emailed HTC and they said that they no-longer choose when that gets uploaded and it usually takes about 10 days for the approval process and upload of the RUU. It's up to AT&T so you could be waiting a while for it.

You don't need to donate a AT&T one x. The devices are really not that different. Lloir with the one x we donated will be able to do everything he does for us for you at&t boys. If anything you guys should be grateful we donated one so you don't have to. Back on topic, you don't need a RUU, just the stock AT&T boot.img. Flash that and device will boot again.

you could try installing the Xposed Framework installer, and then grab that mod (the longpress back button menu option) and enable it. I think it should work. correct me someone, if I'm wrong.
Personally, I just went ahead and flashed ROMs from the WWE HTC One forum here on XDA dev - [HTC One (M7)] since they have the mods I want, and they work fine with our AT&T model. LTE working as well. I do think there's probably a slight issue with mismatched FIRMWARE and base version, because my LTE reception is like 2-3 bars on ROMs like ARHD 5.1 or TrickDroid 4.0 (based on 129.xx.xxx.5) whereas it's full-bar on the stock AT&T ROM.
hope I helped.. hit me up with any questions. the Xposed framework stuff you can actually find a link to in the ARHD thread (careful, don't install ARHD 6 right now, there's some issues people are having. 5.1 is good). Paul Obrien from MoDaCo hosts all the Xposed stuff.
I'll be flashing this tomorrow after I unbox my one

I've taken phones back that were rooted and unlocked and I have never had an issue. I've never had a rep check to see if SU is installed or boot into bootloader to check the status. As long as it cut on and off and wasnt damaged I was good to go.

Root for tmobile HTC one

Hey guys,
Just wanted to say that I was successful in rooting my htc one for tmobile and installing a custom recovery. I used the tool found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942
Just wanted to spread the news in case you were wondering if it was possible.
I hope there is a way to do it without unlocking the bootloader. I just want root.

Edit: I'm gonna go for the M7 version because it says M7 in the bootloader. Wish me luck!
Yeah I'm wondering that too, do we use the M7 version or the ATT one? I'm assuming the M7 because the Tmo version is no different than the international version.
I used the m7 version last night. Worked great. Note sitting on the stock firmware with cwm touch and root. Needed to get rid of all the junk apps

Just want root access, not the custom recovery/ROMs
I'd like to have root access to my HTC One, so that I can use Titanium Backup. That's really the only reason I rooted my Tmobile Samsung Vibrant (for that, I used SuperOneClick).
I found this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942
How do I use this program to maintain the stock recovery and just grant root access?
Is it possible to do the following?:
1- follow the prerequisites in the "To root the phone. Follow in order" and click Go.
2- Skip "Next, flash a recovery."
3- Flash Kernal
4- Run "Perm Root"
Will that work? If not, what do I need to do to get what I want?
I'm not interested in custom ROMs and I don't want to worry about screwing something up. I use wifi calling, and it's important that I have it.

just got a warranty replacement droid dna from verizon

hey guys, i havent been keeping up with the scene and whats going on with the dna. i just got a warranty replacement for my droid dna which was unlocked & rooted.
i did it long ago, and back with the original dna were rooted. trying to root my new warranty one now but a bit confused as i read thru threads. can someone steer me in the right direction? i read somewhere that the new ones cannot be unlocked and rooted?
Go to Original Development, and look at the Moonshine thread. It should be the first one. It is for achieving S-Off.

Just install Superuser, or SuperSU from playstore. If that doesn't work you might need to flash a superuser file from recovery. It would be a .zip not apk.

Updating will most assuredly remove your root but it's not a huge deal to re-root. It won't change your s-off. Hopefully you did a full Nandroid before you installed your custom rom, It will only take you a couple steps and a few minutes to get back to where you started. If not you will have to hunt down the stock rom and flash, which shouldn't be all that difficult either. Whichever you end up doing, I would perform a fresh titanium backup of JUST your apps. This way you can get right back to where you are after you update! Good luck

Good luck

Ok, so i put in custom recovery, and then tried installing the OTA. A red exclamation came, and after 5 minutes, it rebooted. No other messages nothing! Still at 4.3 only!

you are trying to install the official update via custom recovery? I bet this won't work ( tell me if I'm wrong, new to One max )
find the stock recovery, flash it, then let the phone install it itself.
I met the same error when I using older HTC phones, too.

You need stock recovery for T6UL that you can find in CWM thread.
its so easy to flash it, just in case... fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I suspect the device needs to be LOCKED for the OTA to be applied. That can be done from Scotty's thread or mostly you are already locked.
You can be S-OFF, nothing to worry about.
Try keep OTA keeper or Superuser's keep root option during OTA. - This mostly might not work because the OTA methods have improved on security, however worth a try.
Unlock immediately after OTA and then ROOT and install the SD card read/write MOD
Backup CWM and upload for us
Thank you!
