Can't I do something like this - http://goo.gl/9d9Xoo??
I read on in other forums that updating to the latest version of CWM will also fix the issue, but ROM manager says that the latest model is not compatible with One Max!

There is no 4.4.2 for HTC One Max yet only HTC One which is NOT going to work on your device. Give it a couple more weeks.

Must be International?? According to HTC neither Sprint nor Verizon has been released yet: http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates/
If this is the case than sacthegreat is going to need to flash stock rom in order to successfully receive the update.

Updating will most assuredly remove your root but it's not a huge deal to re-root. It won't change your s-off. Hopefully you did a full Nandroid before you installed your custom rom, It will only take you a couple steps and a few minutes to get back to where you started. If not you will have to hunt down the stock rom and flash, which shouldn't be all that difficult either. Whichever you end up doing, I would perform a fresh titanium backup of JUST your apps. This way you can get right back to where you are after you update! Good luck

Verizon could be out any day. Sprint probably a few more weeks
I'm not a staff so I have no idea about release date
but HTC just declared the future products and including last year New One series have 2 years update support, I guess US carrier will release it soon, the KitKat now is standing at front of a door, shouting "LET ME OUT!" =P

you are trying to install the official update via custom recovery? I bet this won't work ( tell me if I'm wrong, new to One max )
find the stock recovery, flash it, then let the phone install it itself.
I met the same error when I using older HTC phones, too.

You need stock recovery for T6UL that you can find in CWM thread.
its so easy to flash it, just in case... fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I suspect the device needs to be LOCKED for the OTA to be applied. That can be done from Scotty's thread or mostly you are already locked.
You can be S-OFF, nothing to worry about.
Try keep OTA keeper or Superuser's keep root option during OTA. - This mostly might not work because the OTA methods have improved on security, however worth a try.
Unlock immediately after OTA and then ROOT and install the SD card read/write MOD
Backup CWM and upload for us
Thank you!

In my defense, I had just joined the forum yesterday and for the first time unlocked the bootloader, removed root, flashed a custom rom and kernel. But the OTA update was performed before I even came onto XDA, so I didn't know that because of it I would not be able to revert to stock. Now I do.

For now
Unlocked the bootloader through HTCdev today, and then rooted it. Was really easy.
Though I imagine since AT&T has said that the bootloader will eventually not be allowed to be unlocked, that it'll probably be nice to get it done sooner than later once you get your device.
HTC will block it per ATT instructions. Better unlock asap lol

I used SuperSU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
There is a link for a flashable ZIP file that worked perfectly with the HTC One.
Whatever CWM recovery came with that toolkit in the international forums is what I used.
I believe technically, the international and AT&T One devices are the same, so almost anything in the international forum should also work with the AT&T One.

Why not root and unlock the bootloader? It's not like you can't put it back to stock. Then you'd be on the latest and greatest.
Disclaimer: Flash this ROM at your own risk. I am not responsible for what you do on your device. I left this stock to provide a base for anybody that wants to use it. Mod this rom how you want. Just please remember to give credit where credit is due.
This is a pure stock rooted rom. It has items like busybox, init.d support and so forth. No apps were added or removed. Both Odexed and Deodexed versions below.

you could try installing the Xposed Framework installer, and then grab that mod (the longpress back button menu option) and enable it. I think it should work. correct me someone, if I'm wrong.
Personally, I just went ahead and flashed ROMs from the WWE HTC One forum here on XDA dev - [HTC One (M7)] since they have the mods I want, and they work fine with our AT&T model. LTE working as well. I do think there's probably a slight issue with mismatched FIRMWARE and base version, because my LTE reception is like 2-3 bars on ROMs like ARHD 5.1 or TrickDroid 4.0 (based on 129.xx.xxx.5) whereas it's full-bar on the stock AT&T ROM.
hope I helped.. hit me up with any questions. the Xposed framework stuff you can actually find a link to in the ARHD thread (careful, don't install ARHD 6 right now, there's some issues people are having. 5.1 is good). Paul Obrien from MoDaCo hosts all the Xposed stuff.
I'll be flashing this tomorrow after I unbox my one

Hi. I'm new to the HTC One family. I bought a used rooted unit on Swappa and flashed the Google Play Edition on the phone, which was great, until I installed an over-the-air update, which was unavoidable. I'm now running Android 4.3 Build # JWR66v.H10. When I go to Bootloader mode, it says the phone is unlocked and tampered. When I go to use superuser it tells me the phone is not rooted.
How do I get the bootloader to not be tampered? Do I need that to be fixed to root again? How do I re-root? I'd like to not receive these OTA updates as well, to avoid problems in the future.
All help and suggestions are appreciated!
just reflash SuperSU for your device and you should be rooted again, for the tampered i believe you have to flash the RUU to get that back to stock android and stock bootloader.

I am not exactly sure if you need to take an OTA to be able to flash ViperMax 2.0.0. However, OTA will certainly upgrade your phone's bootloader which is 2.49.0.000
You need to unroot your phone to be able to take OTA.
To unroot:
* Restore stock backup
* flash stock recovery
* Relock your bootloader.
* After all of this, boot into stock recovery and Factory Rest and finally boot into your phone.
Now you should be able to receive OTA.
Let me know if you would need to know something else.

if your s-off you don't want to change you bootloader, just install 2.0 and wait(if someone makes one)for a flashable firmware for s-off users.with stock recovery and hboot removed,

so you are saying I can flash 4.4.2 roms even tho I am on 4.3 right now (viper 1.0.1) I had tried viper 2. but could not get wi fi to work ------
Do you know if their is some kind of fix for that Wi-Fi ? or mabe it was just me or a bad download I had flashed.
I thought I had to take the OTA update to use 4.4.2 roms --Thanks for yall"s time and efort

yeah you can flash it, are you on twrp 2.6.3.0 or higher no problem i would flash viperone 2.. clean flash that is.
wipe:
dalvic
cache
data
system
not the internal(be careful here, you don't check it by mistake
boot to recovery, tap wipe>advanced wipe, then select the above
if wifi still doesn't work you may need to flash the radio from the update. i don't have this phone so, maybe someone here will make a flashable for just the radio are you s-off??

Just an updated radio and hboot are the only difference. Who is your provider so I can link you to the correct its firmware.

The boot.img is located in the vipe zip folder you download that has your rom.zip
Is that what you were asking?
It might just be easier for you to backup your data. And just flash either a stock rom or RUU and it will update itself.
i used RUU and got bootloop now i finaly got it to boot up in to bootloader but when i try to go to recovery it just bootloops Can anyone point me to
the rite direction(verizon htc one max) bootloader says unlocked -s-off -Hboot2.49 Radio 1.36.680122
restored
