[HELP] Needing a file.. - Motorola Droid RAZR

hey folks.. just wondering if someone can help me out here, being a total noob when I rooted my xt910 (actually I'm still a total noob), I went a bit app delete happy.. now I'm trying to get back to stable ground. Have been basically following the info found on this thread
So basically at the minute I'm looking for:
Stk.apk (SH1 hash should start 9844, umm or 7687 *I think)..
I've pulled some from a couple of system dumps I've found, but they appear to be the wrong files.
Current system version is: 672.180.41.XT910.Retail.en.EU
Alternatively a complete system dump would be lovely! :good:

For you : http://www.m1rr0r.com/tmp/stk.zip
For complete system dump : https://mega.co.nz/#!NhxH1J4I!CHsB3zXTc2w2W_P6vQ33c0ikHCx4zRZhUYQvqse3Guk
Credit to Al936 for the system dump

Thanks for that.. sadly it hasn't worked, I'm just guessing but I think that's an earlier version... just got the error again..
assert failed: apply-patch_check("/system/app/Stk.apk", "7687d471751e88b078a5ff22c74a2740509b2221", "3fecaad984476aff276408159b08023c8b0b6f02")

It's ICS.. I'm currently trying to load JB, but these errors are preventing the update..
Oh hang on... just tried again, it worked; one step further

Really simple ;p !
Flash this SBF...
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umt...SPDRICSRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml.zip
Root the phone again...
Use voodo root ota rootkeeper to backup the root
Update your phone
Use rootkeeper to restore the root
Restore your apps and backup
(Backup your file before if you need... all data will be wiped !... )

All sorted, just needed one more file from that full dump, and it worked.. I'm all JB'd up.. thanks for the help! :good:

Yeah it.looks.like u will either need to push slacker to /system
Or u might have to sbf.
Just FYI-- Sbf will not wipe ur data away if that's what u r worried about.
BUT if u bootloop after sbf u WILL need to data wipe.
I can't day for sure whether or not u will bootloop.
I never bootloop after sbf UNLESS I have mods or tweaks or custom rom installed

Use root explorer
Go to data/app
long press slacker.apk(might not be the exact name but u should see the slacker icon next to it
choose "move"
Navigate to /system/app
Press the grey button at top of screen that says "Mount r/w"
Press Paste.
Reboot.
U can also use other file explorers as long as they have root abilities and u can mount /system as r/w (read/write)
Root explorer is simplest and easiest to use IMHO for this

if u have it installed from market

I don't know if this would work anyway beings the STOCK slacker may be slightly different. I.e. signed by moto or something.
in which case u will need the slacker.apk from a stock x2 system if anyone running stock could copy it for ya and upload. And u also may need the odex file if it has one.

They allow quicker access to apps by having bits of code readily available to system or something similar to that.

First and foremost, have you tried downloading the 2.3.5 zip file again? It's telling you that is has an error in the update.zip file, so it's probably a corrupted zip file.
Go here and get the OTA 2.3.5 update and push that to your phone -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341202
If Eclipse is boot looping, you need to go back into recovery (I would suggest the stock recovery, but BSR is fine as well) and wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. Any time you flash a new ROM, you should always do that before rebooting.

Critical Error

Hi Guys,
sorry for posting this in Dev Section but i have modiefied a custom rom from here with some apps from stock and it runs really really fast and smooth and looks good.
So at every Start when i unlock it the first time it shows me this message:
"System UIDs Inconsistent"
UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable.
I wiped it a few times via factory reset but actually it shows me the same error.
How can i remove this message?
By saying what and who s Rom you used maybe they can help you more

How I got my rooted RAZR to install ICS OTA successfully

If you have safestrap go into the app, select the uninstall feature and re try the install. No need to download anyones utility or no need to factory reset.
do you happen to know the download path of the ota? Due to safestrap mine failed.. hate to download it again..
Should be in setting/ about phone/ updates
yeah thats to download it again.. i was hoping it would just install it if the system saw the file there. oh well at 55% i can wait a little longer..
After the phone reboots, if the install takes really really slow then ur on the right path

Arrgh i swear i did.. While i was doing tb backups it slipped my mine i reckon.. really wish i could find the dl path for the update... hopefully third time will work!
Whether uninstalling the "Razr BootStrap" using "Managa Applications" is enough... Or I have to do some extra steps too????
Please help me... I don't care much about root, as the update usually unroots it and I can root again easily...
Bootstrap may be a dif problem. Like i said i used safestrap. I dunno what else you have done to urvphone. You might need the dev team to help you. I never used roms so i was stock i also never froze any bloatware.

You need to first uninstall the razr bootstrap app through "manage apps" (look under the all apps tab - clear data first while you're there).
Then, with root explorer or such, go to the /system/bin folder, mount r/w, and delete the following files:
hijack
logwrapper
Then, rename logwrapper.bin to simply logwrapper (just remove the .bin)...
Reboot, and it should be all cleaned out.
I would also recommend using voodoo ota rootkeeper to backup your root, then temporarily un-root (hide root) before doing the OTA install.
If you still get ota install errors, then you probably removed some system apps that are verified before installation... check /cache/recovery/last_log for errors.. then either replace those apk/odex files, or flash the fxz..

Thanks so much for the info. That logwrapper file was withholding me from updating.
I tried deleting and renaming the files with no success updating. I eventually just ended up doing a factory wipe and using Matt's Utility and flashing back to stock. It was a little frustrating, but the Verizon backup utility combined with Google services saved me. I guess i need to learn how to use Titanium backups. lol
this thread should be titled "How I got my Safestrapped RAZR to install ICS OTA successfully", as your issue was more to do with safestrap then specifically just being rooted.

[SOLVED] Can't Install Update Due To Uninstalling System App

Okay, first, I have tried googling and came up with no answers. Second, I tried looking through xda and came up with no answers. The closest thread I found anywhere was here. Here is my situation.
I have the EVO 4G LTE and I am running stock and rooted. Over last weekend I became s-off. So, now I am s-off with a stock recovery and would like to install the OTA update that is out. Please don't tell me not to in this thread and just wait for a rooted ROM and the like. I know the risks involved and what potentially could happen.
Ultimately, when I try to apply it I get the red triangle. When I hold the volume up and power on it goes into the stock recovery and here is what it says.

So, what this tells me is that soundhound is preventing me from installing the update. I didn't even have soundhound installed when I tried the update. Also, I looked with root explorer under /system/app and there was nothing listed for soundhound or the like. I thought just deleting the file would maybe solve my problem. I also tried installing it from the market. I think I must have accidentally restored this file from a different backup on accident and don't have that backup anymore.
So, this leaves me to my quandary. What can I do to install the OTA? Does anyone have any thoughts or insight? Thanks in advance.
Okay, I have tried this as well. I flashed the most current TWRP recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache. Then I flashed a stock recovery and tried the update again. I received the same error as last time with the stupid soundhound.odex file. Does anyone have a soundhound free file with the apk and odex file? I figure if I had that I could place it in the proper location with root explorer or adb install it to get the update to apply. Still, any thoughts could be helpful.
It might be a way for HTC to prevent rooted phones to update as how u explained it soundhound isn't installed but when u purchase this phone it comes with sound hound preinstalled into system directory which u cannot uninstall without root privlages
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I appreciate the input. I guess I forgot that soundhound comes preinstalled on the phone. I just checked the RUU and looked at the rom and you are right. It is there. So, now I have the .apk and .odex files from the stock rom. My question is now how do I install it so that it looks like it was there from the beginning as a system file?
Thanks again for reminding me it came with the phone. I feel I am closer to being able to install the update.
DONE AND DONE!!!!
First thing is that I changed the title because it was not SoundHound's fault at all. It was my idiot self that uninstalled a system app. I don't remember doing that but I won't deny that somehow I did.
Now to the meat of how I solved this.
I got the correct system files (both .apk and .odex) and placed them on my sd card
I mounted /system/media as r/w with root explorer and copied both files into the /system/media directory (must do this first before putting them into /system/app)
I changed the permissions to rw-r--r-- as were all the other apps in the /system/app directory
I copied both files over to /system/app
I rebooted the phone
Once the phone rebooted I updated the app in question and opened it
I rebooted again just to be safe
Then I downloaded and installed the update
SUCCESS!!!!!
Anyway, just wanted to share for everyone in case you run into a similar problem when trying to update. Reach out to me if you need any help with any of the steps. Thanks to such great people and developers on xda.
Some threads are saying that even if you're S-Off, the new HBOOT won't let you flash Superuser and TWRP. Were you able to reroot?
For various reasons, I'd like to just take the OTA and reflash SU and TWRP (I'm S-Off, rooted, stock recovery right now).

I was able to reroot. However, first I had to install the lazy panda hboot and flash TWRP through fastboot usb. I then flashed a su zip once I booted into TWRP. Hope this helps. I am trying to make a new thread for this right now.
I had the same issue but with a different problem. I had rewritten my build.prop to incorporate the application associations as they should be (thanks Crapple!). As a result, the OTA was failing to install. Volume UP + Power showed me the error. Restored the original build.prop I had backed up and OTA fired off. A few more steps and I'll have your S-OFF OTA rebuild complete. Thanks!

update, i was running neatrom lite v 3.xx before, so i tried an experiment, i installed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569686 neatRom Lite v4
this installed ok, when "android updating" , after the initial install, i noticed that it was updating 156 apps ( the amount of apps i had originally)
however when you start you can only see 34 apps, which i guess must be the stock amount of apps with this rom
still cant restore anything , still can see that backup i did this morning, still get the same error message when i try and do any kind of restore ie MD5 mismatch"
is there anyway i can recover:
my contacts, those apps, my messages,
ie just the data and, have the apps ( that were just updated, but not visible) available?
thanks !

Just flash the same kernel you used to to make the backup, then restore your backup with that.
Btw, You didnt have a "soft brick" there is no such thing. Its a made up phrase by n00bs when they dont know what they have done and cant get system to boot so need to label it in some way. A device is either "bricked" or it isnt.

Yes i take your point about the "soft brick" , same as "she is a little bit pregnant" i guess
Linkhunter sent me a link to re-create my md5 , it's an EXE program, so needs to be run under Windows, im just just not sure how im supposed to get it to make a new md5 for my back up
can anyone give step by step instructions i can follow
re "Just flash the same kernel you used to to make the backup, then restore your backup with that.", are you saying because i made the backup with kernal A ( ICS), then tried to migrate to kernal B" ( Jellyban) , that it was the migration mis-match that is causing it not to restore,. Why i ask, is because i made another backup for some reason last September, and i tried to restore that one and it looked as if it would restore, i didnt get the (using ROM Manage Pro) message saying,." this doesnt appear to a valid backup, md5 is missing" .i stopped at that point, i still would rather get my latest backup (the data and apps restored) if possible

BTW there is a way to recalc md5sum via terminal emulator, just google it and you'll be able to restore. Happened to me too and solved this way
Sent from my GT-I9100G using xda app-developers app
If you ever run into an md5 mismatch error when trying to restore a backup, you could try the following ^^
Using Terminal Emulator: (mind spaces)
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/backup-name-goes-here
# rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
Do usual wipes then restore the full nandroid ^^
NB, if it works (it has for me in past) it'll prob only work once for a particular nandroid...
so, after (if...) it works - just del old nandroid & make a new one
Sorry Bout the noob question.. but can we do this using different recovery backups? Like if you wanna restore a backup from twrp in a cwm recovery ?
