I just downloaded the new Telus update for my HTC one x+( 1.20.661.1). And I finished the update and tried installing it, it proceeded to to turn off my phone and then boot right into bootloader. It does this every time. I had my phone rooted and with an unlocked bootloader but it is now not rooted and it is re-locked. Please help.
You should never OTA update when you're rooted. You'll have to flash old RUU and repeat procedure to unlock and root. Do not update. Wait for xda devs to release flashable.

No root
I'm not even rooted.

Not now you're not. You said you were bootloader unlocked & rooted when you took the OTA. As the previous member said, NEVER take the OTA if you're rooted. Now you have to run the RUU & do everything over again

No, sorry that was badly worded. I was NOT rooted when I took the OTA. But I have been rooted in the past so I know not to take the OTA when rooted. I am not root and was not when I tried the update. Sorry my mistake

I was wanting to unroot this EVO 3d. Just making sure that its ok to take an OTA update on HTC unlock method once the update comes through. I couldn't find anything regarding if its ok to proceed once released.

If you are wanting to root:
Rule #1 - Do not take OTA updates. Always let a Dev check it out and post it up on the Dev Forum before updating. More times than not, you will lose root and receive an updated HBoot.
Wanting to unroot. I used HTC method to unlock bootloader wondering if this will cause an issue technically receiving an OTA update will unroot and set to stock OTA firmware, radio, data, Wimax, and hboot also stuff I missed but what will happen to an unlocked bootloader through HTC methods.

Reading comprehension this morning is not up to par yet. Sorry.
You may have to re-lock it to get OTA updates, "fastboot oem lock"
I was thinking that since the boot loader was the only thing effected by the HTC method it may not read the signature correctly for the OTA. I know the RUU has to have a lock signature for the hboot to ID the update or maybe nothin will happen and it will update fine.

I lost my root on the last OTA and since there are still no new method to re root on this new version might as well wait till the JB update. I think by Mid August / Sept we can see the new OTA to JB

There is a thread that I used after the OTA by xHausx that brought back r00t for me flawlessly, and I used HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader?
FYI.

I almost tried this until I read the following ~ I wanted the fixes in the latest OTA:
"Successful in rooting all builds up to 1.13.651.1."
It works for 1.22. It unlocks your phone and installs twrp. You just have to flash chainfires 0.94 superuser to be fully rooted

Wait, this is getting confusing. We should always be able to unlock thru htcdev on this phone no matter the firmware update. Achieving S-OFF is not yet possible on hboot 1.15, so, that's what some of us are hoping to have...

Yes, S-OFF on hboot 1.15 is a work-in-progress, perhaps with a future Lazy Panda exploit.
I believe the original user's requirement was root and unlocked on the current OTA.
These are HTC phones. You can always use HTC dev as a last resort. We will always have root.
Also, don't accept otas if your rooted or ever plan on rooting.

What do you get from being s-off? I'm htc dev unlock with s on and I've been able to run every rom with no problem and able to update my radio?

Believe that s-on with the new hboot restricts u as to what is flashable, ie kernels, splash screens, radios. Whereas the old hboot does not. Why some of us are waiting for s-off on current ota/hboot.

Hello fellow One owners
So since were all frolicking in the blissfulness of unlocked boot loaders, could a accepting an update from ATT ever relock our boot loaders? I would like to know for future reference. Does it even matter since we have our unlock bin already? Thanks!

Side question: what is the official download page for adfree? Can't seem to find the legit one and I'm afraid of downloading it from some rogue website
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
For anyone else curious, here is adfree. Its legit, just look at the permissions when you install it. Click the green download button at the bottom, not the ones up top

the unlock bin is tied to the device ID of the phone software won't change that. Once you're unlocked you have to relock to accept an OTA anyway else it will fail.

But if you unlock your bootloader and root then won't need to relock to update. You can just wait till someone post the OTA here or the full rom to flash to your device

Trying to use revone to get back to s-off after installing the new OTA update but I'm getting an error.
I saw in the revone thread that it should work on hboot 1.44 which mine still is.
Specifically, I'm getting error -6. Anyone successfully gain s-off after the new update?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
i'm having the same problem I'm going to try and relock and revert back the firmware to the original software
Can you even downgrade back to a fully stock .8 phone after installing the .11 update? Assuming the phone is S-On of course.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
no theres no full ruu for the original version what i'm going to try to do is fast boot flash whats in the old ruu
OK if you wouldn't mind letting me know how that goes. It's not a huge deal for me since I wasn't running any ROMs due to really liking wifi calling and the tmobile camera but I'd like to know I can get back to S-Off if I wanted

I have S-off with .11... it was off before the update, just had to re-install the stock recovery for the update to install. Can toggle on and off.
Now it seems the camera update (that restores HDR) has caused my camera to no longer work AT ALL.
Yeah. I didn't know that the update would work with s-off so I turned it back on before updating.

Hmm...I started with s-off, custom Rom and recovery, and all I did was run the last official ruu, then upgrade to 4.3. Still shows unlocked and s-off.
