Boot loader and ATT updates - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Hello fellow One owners
So since were all frolicking in the blissfulness of unlocked boot loaders, could a accepting an update from ATT ever relock our boot loaders? I would like to know for future reference. Does it even matter since we have our unlock bin already? Thanks!

Side question: what is the official download page for adfree? Can't seem to find the legit one and I'm afraid of downloading it from some rogue website
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

For anyone else curious, here is adfree. Its legit, just look at the permissions when you install it. Click the green download button at the bottom, not the ones up top

the unlock bin is tied to the device ID of the phone software won't change that. Once you're unlocked you have to relock to accept an OTA anyway else it will fail.

But if you unlock your bootloader and root then won't need to relock to update. You can just wait till someone post the OTA here or the full rom to flash to your device

[Q] htc dev site not working

I relocked my phone and now im trying to re root . the htc dev site won't let me get to the bootloader section. Is there a way around using the site to get rooted or s off
Pretty sure no is the answer.

By any chance do you still have the bin file from when you unlocked before? If so just skip all of that with dev site and just continue with unlock using all the adb commands. Or you could trust one of the other one click root tools.

The bin file should be somewhere in your emails if you haven't deleted it.

HTC dev unlock problemn

Hi guys.
Trying to unlock my boot loader so I can root my DNA and load a custom rom. Unfortunately I've run into a problem. When I go thru the steps at the HTC Dev site it comes back as unlock failed....with the following error code:
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
I have no idea what this is telling me or what I'm doing wrong. The only thing I can think of is when choosing the device from their list, I couldn't find the DNA listed so I chose "all other devices". Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
Sounds like your not copying the token thing correctly.
Either that, or you didn't do the supercid exploit.

As near as I can tell, I copied the token correctly. Tried it twice and got the same result.
What is the supercid exploit? Is it something I needed to do before HTC Dev unlocking?

Yep, you can't be on the ota though. If you are on the ota you can't unlock the bootloader for now.

Not to be rude but did you read any bootloader unlocking thread? Because if you did you would have known what to do

Ok, got it figured out. I wasn't quite clear on what I had to do to unlock the boot loader. Re-read everything on the link that Bigandrewgold posted. Now it worked. I didn't realize I was on the " TA update" and hadn't done the supercid exploit. Once I did that, then I was able to get the unlock code from HTCDev and unlock the bootloader. Now I'm rooted successfully! Thanks a bunch guys.
Wait, you installed the over the air (OTA) update and were still able to unlock it?

Reverting back to original firmware?

I want to root and unlock the bootloader on my phone, but the unlock methods I have look at don't work on 2.x firmware, which my device has. Is there a way to downgrade back to the older firmware so I can unlock, root, and ROM my phone? Thanks in advance!
Sent from my Droid DNA using xda app-developers app
Nope. Only way you can do that stuff is through jtag. Which involves you paying someone and you sending your phone to them.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
So I'll just have to wait for someone to unlock the bootloader for the 2.x firmware? Do you think someone will find a way to?

Downgrade from 1.27.531.11 to 1.27.531.8 and S-OFF available

In my search and attempt to find a method to downgrade 1.27.531.11 firmware and successfully run revone for S-OFF, I found it.

***Edit***
The downgrade is out there, DO NOT POST A LINK TO IT!!!! The thread will get closed again. Use your googling skills.
Has anyone tried this method with the bootloader unlocked? I'm just confused why the bootloader has to be re-locked.

When you run an RUU the bootloader has to be locked. You can always unlock it again. The HTC One toolkits make it really easy. Just save your email with the unlock.bin
Hello OP, may I ask which toolkit did you use to re-lock bootloader? Thanks!
Yeah it works. Im now s-off

i was in the same boat... make sure you are running the "ARUWizard" from the extracted folder and not the zip file. also do "fastboot reboot-bootloader" without the quotations. also update your drivers just to make sure. i got mine from hasoon's toolkit
Thread re-opened.
Let's keep this about the info only please and not about banned members etc.

Yes the folder after you unzip the .zip file. Then go into the data files and run the application I told you.
Nope that reboots bootloader to ensure you are good to go.

Mind pointing us to a guide?
So the ota update didn't change or affect anything?? I've never seen that happen. Usually an ota update blocks any type our root exploit until someone figures how to crack it.

Ya that what I was thinking, before I go ahead with it-I require atleast one more confirmation that this is untrue
The only thing that got blocked is the exploit that allowed s off because hboot was updated

confirmed. you can still unlock and flash custom recovery like you always have, but the new hboot makes it impossible to s-off at this point (unless you pay for a java card or for a shop who has one to perform the s-off). There have not been any reports (to my knowledge) that ATT or HTC has blocked unlocking via htcdev.com

Which is why I said unlock bootloader first. Honestly, it's as simple as I listed it. And if you don't plan on flashing ruu's for other models, s-off isn't that big a thing. I have it, it's nice to have, but if all you want is to root, flash roms, etc, just unlock and flash custom recovery.

What happens if you run the exe file that is the GPE RUU from the HTC site (Brightstar) after you have OTA'd to 4.3 ATT version? This is my only phone so I didn't try for fear of bricking it, but it seems like it opens the rom upgrade utility program and would flash a different ROM, or does it check and then fail the install?

I guess it's a catch 22, can't s-off after 4.3 OTA, so can't change CID, or obtain the SuperCID status, is that what I am understanding at this point?
