Issue with the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Update - Motorola Droid RAZR

Originally the phone failed to install the 4.1.2 update. It failed with an error such as "assert failed: motorola.motoflash("/tmp/lte.img")". Looked like everything was succeeding in flashing except the radio. That being said, I used fastboot to flash the 4.1.2 update to the phone. This was all and dandy, but 4g didn't work and wifi was a little bit spotty. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I flashed Cyanogen, but still had no 4g. I extracted the update_radio.zip from the radio.img file, and that fails to install in either stock recovery or in twrp. I believe that if I can get this file to flash then it'll fix it in both OSes, but I've hit a wall and ran out of options. Anybody else have any advice?

What type of jelly bean update are you using? What is your phone model? XT910 or XT912?

XT912, the verizon version. If I'm not mistaken, the other one does not have 4g. After the OTA failed, I flashed 9.8.2O-72_VZW-16 Blur_Version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US via fastboot.

Found a log file. This looks like the juicy part.

EDIT:
Searched for a portion of the error. Found a thread I hadn't seen before. Looks like I'm going to talk to my good buddies at verizon.

no custom rom after official update?

hi there!
i just flashed the official rom to my htc hero to get the latest radio.
T-Mobile DE
RUU_Hero_T-Mobile_DE_2.73.111.26_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
from here: showthread.php?t=559622
now im trying to flash the latest villian rom 12.
if i boot the phone via home-and-power into recovery mode i just get the orange/white warning triangle. if i hold home-and-power again i have three options: reboot the system, apply the update, and wipe data/factory reset. if i try to flash the rom i just get
e: cant't open /cache/recovery/command
-- install from sd card
...
e: no signature (785 files)
e: verification failed
installation aborted.
im trying to flash via the bootloader (back-and-power) and access the phone via fastboot my device will be recognized but i can load any recovery rom.
i entered:
"fastboot-windows boot recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img"
i also tried the latest recovery rom from here: showthread.php?t=561124... and others, that i found on different sites and threads.
this is the message i get:
"downloading boot.img ... FAILED (remote: not allow)
i also tried to flashing the recovery rom via flashrec.
these are the versions i used:
flashrec-1.1.2-20090909
flashrec-1.1.3-20091107-2
flashrec-20090815
but i cant backup and therefore flash a recovery-rom.
so are all my hopes to flash a custom rom to my phone gone because i flashed the official update or is there any way to maybe downgrade again?
im new to the rom scene, any help would be much appreciated.
cheers.
For now you are essentially up the creek without a paddle.
I'm not aware of a way to reverse this issue
Goes to show you should never flash anything that comes from HTC...
http://villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=28 explains why this shouldn't be done. Not much help though
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to q&a

[Q] E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7)

Ive just about tried everything to get my phone to do a system update. When i do try to update it. It starts up Teamwin Recovery and says updated aborted. So i tried to flash the update manually by going to /downloads then trying to flash the OTA Sharp shooter and thats when i get the E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) at the end. So if anyone could help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by System Update? What are you on now? Are you trying to flash a ROM? Going to /Downloads and flashing OTA sharp shooter; not sure what you mean by this at all......

A HTC OTA update cannot be flashed using a custom recovery, that is why you are getting the second error. Also a OTA will fail when HBoot attempts to run it when you have a custom recovery installed, that is probably the source of. First error.
Bottom line is that an OTA cannot be installed when you have a custom recovery, so just fine a custom, rooted Rom that is based on the OTA and flash that instead.
all you gotta do is go to recovery try to install it when you get the error pull the battery and go back into recovery from bootloader
Thanks i would make you kool-aid but im fresh out... and that didnt work either

Yea i think your right... O well
Hey guys,
I had a similar problem when trying to flash my Nexus s with CyberGR mod.
Tried pretty much everything from trying to wipe system/dalvik/cache/factory reset and also disabled signature check.
Nothing really happened, i kept getting the error again.
Then i had flashed the recovery image (had a TWRP 2.0 running... changed it to CWM) and then the flash went on just fine.
So my guess is that this something to do with the recovery ROM. I would want to ensure that the recovery image used by the dev and mentioned in the install instructions be used.
Hope this helps.
I just reboot recovery and that fixes it when that happens. Have you tried that? No need for battery pull imo

factory reset
flash restock from overcome
nothing is working. someone has to have some information on this.

SOLVED!!!
this is what i did to get back to stock after getting the errors above.
first thing, i re-rooted my tab.
once re-rooted, i flashed the hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip
then i did used ODIN to flash the stockrecovery file. (everything you need is ont the files for dummies zip
on the tab re-booted, it was stuck in a bootloop.
so i got back into recovery and did a factory/data reset/wipe.
tab rebooted and everything is working fine. back on stock.
android version 3.1
kernel 2.6.36.3
[email protected]#1
build number
hmj37.uekf3 p7510uekf3
hope this helps anyone having the same problem.
Which method to re-root did you use? I have the same issue.
EDIT: Nevermind! Got it! Thanks

Ack! Which method did you use to re-root? I'm getting the same error. I'm trying to root by flashing the root zip file in CWM. It flashes fine, but then I still get the same error. Is there another way to do it?
The problem seems to be the CWM version. I was on 5.x that came with one of the ROMs. So I used ODIN to flash the older CWM 4.0.0.4. Then I was able to flash the stock hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip file.

After attempt to return to stock, stuck at logo, no BMM

Hi, I was running CM11 for xt910 and was planning to return to stock.
It wouldn't work via bootmenu manager. it would give the following error:
Installing: /sdcard/0/update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Warning no file_contextsVerifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/app_process", "76c3a9a7a6d400a9ff3e4db391327daa33aa0663", "2a221441bf06f2618aa6c35ae0cade13bd4f6e1b")
E:Error in /sdcard/0/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
or something similar.
So I attempted flashing via RSD lite, after temporary unrooting via voodoo root manager.
It says successfully installed, but at the rebooting process it hangs. (or is it usual that first startup takes over 5-10 minutes and recovery mode gives an android with a red triangled exclamation, not enabling me to do any of the actions?).
So my only chance is to fix this with fastboot. what should I do?

CM11? Are you sure?
If you have the SBF Fastboot file, located Here, RSDLite under AP Fastboot, and start from scratch!
I've never used BMM, I'm a Safestrap advocate (since it's all I've used). It will retain Stock (as long as you don't overwrite it), and then all you have to do, if you encounter a really glitchy rom, is wipe that Romslot (partition), and recreate/reinstall whatever you want.
I hope I was of SOME assistance.

[Q] U.S Cellular SCH-i905 Unroot back to stock help

Need help getting this tablet back to factory stock.
Current Tablet State:
I get get to recovery (CWM v6.0.3.6) and install zips, but the only ROM that it will boot into is cm-10.1-20131020-NIGHTLY-p4vzw.zip... which is a verizon build. Seems like any other version of CWM causes a looping screen.
I can get to downloading mode and use Odin. Only file that works here with cm-10.1-20131020-NIGHTLY-p4vzw.zip is this file here -> PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5. With this combo I can actually boot into cm and I have wifi, but it's not what I am looking for here.
I get invalid binaries on the modem.bin or lte_modem.bin when using Odin if I try using any other PDA file. I can't find the U.S. Cellular version of the firmware anywhere on the internet.
if I try an install hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip from recovery I get this error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "p7100BUKB7"
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
I have tried about every single method on these forums and am unable to get this thing back to stock. Any help would be much appreciated. And whomever helps me fix it will be rewarded with some bitcoins
